  1. Three weeks ago, Graffanino's meer presence in the line-up would have been grounds for Yost's immediate termination for most around here. Now he needs more AB's? Yost was also routinely BBQ'd for "playing the hot hand" in the preson of Gwynn in particular, and that was the wrong thing to do. I just don't get it. I think almost every guy on the roster has settled into a pretty nice and well defined role, and it is working out pretty well. Graffanino is doing exactly what he was brought in here to do, and I am all for letting sleeping dogs lie.
  2. While listening to the Cub game last night, I came to realize that my growing distaste for the Cubs has almost made me start to dislike Pat Hughes. He has always been one of my favorites, but I find myself getting quite annoyed with him, especially when the Cubs are playing well.
  3. You could easily flip that around and say that Bush is already becoming that extra bullpen arm, and this confirms Gallardo is staying in the rotation. What better way to recover from your last start, than to not make it?
  4. Its a sign that Dave Bush isn't a particularly good SP.
  5. Just as the moves he didn't make, could have. They didn't. Well then i guess its safe to say that Yost's decisions have cost us 39 losses so far this season. You guys who feel the need to find something wrong with everything Yost does, do realize that the other team does get a say in these things don't you?
  6. It was definitely a bad move by Soriano, but I sort of think he may not really have known what he was doing. Not an excuse, and still pretty weak, but I'm not necessarily convinced there was a whole lot of intent there.
  7. It was pretty clear to me that Young said (after Lee started talking too him), "Are you alright?" I am also assuming based on the smirk on his face that his tone was a bit, shall we say, sarcastic. Even if he was being a wise guy, what Lee did was beyond stupid. Fine by me. Having him out of that line-up for the better part of a week in American League ballparks works for me.
  8. Janet Jackson should be be signing the 7th inning stretch, and follow it up with What have you done for me lately, because all of the sudden, Zambrano is a good guy again to Ash Clown Nation at Wrigley. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/ed/Jjwhydfml.jpg/200px-Jjwhydfml.jpg
  9. Zambrano won't finish this. If he doesn't have a no-hitter going does he make that play on the infield? No.
  10. If SD can aquire a bat, they just may win the WS.
  11. My what a good weekend in Minnesota could mean for the Brewers... Looking at the upcoiming schedules, after this weekend with the Twins, the Brewers have a 9 game homestand consisting of SF, KC, and HOU, prior to a weekend series at Wrigley Field. The Cubs play 12 games between now and then as well (SD, @TEX, @CWS, COL). Both teams then finish the first half with 7 games at PIT, and WAS. I fully expect the Cubs to do pretty well against SD, but if we can avoid total disaster against the Twins and at worst lose a game in the standings, we should be in a position to not only get that game back, but create a little additional distance prior to the series with the Cubs at the end of the month - and potentially go into that thing with a 6-8 game lead, really needing only to avoid getting swept to prevent any real damage in the standings, where even losing 2 of 3 wouldn't really hurt. If on the other hand we are only 3.5 or (gulp) 2.5 up come Monday, things could get mighty interesting.
  12. Making Pie, Theriot and Fontenot regulars in the line-up has absolutely helped the Cubs. Whether or not those guys can sustain a high level of play throughout the season is obviously a big question mark. If they can (especially Pie), the Cubs become much better and much deeper. Pie's ability (or inability) to hit LH's is going to be a huge factor the remainder of this year.
  13. You're right, it is highly unusual for a team to bat their 2 worst hitters 8 and 9 in the lineup.
  14. I would really like it if the Brewers won today.
  15. I dunno. One run seems like enough against the Tigers.
  16. Such as...
  17. Lord knows he hasn't seen any kind of results.
  18. If only Braun would have played instead of Graffanino, we would have for sure gotten one hit and would not have to be so embarrased today! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  19. As far as "We're gonna win this thing" goes, I thik it was pretty simple, the agent came to consider himself part of the family. Despite his claim in teh car that Ton was overreaching, he still made the phone call.
  20. You guys are trying to read way more into it than was actually there. Its pretty well known that they taped 3 alternate endings to help "keep it under wraps". Yeah, ok. Think those will be available when the DVD's come out? You bet. Think people will run out and buy them hoping to see the ending they expected? No question. This was a great way to leave the public wanting more and provide an opportunity to sell lots of DVD's and/or create a box office smash if they decide to go that route. While I think the final scene in the restaurant/the parking, etc. was very good from a dramatic standpoint, it was basically a non-ending ending, reducing 6 years or whatever it has been of these characters lives down to 6 minutes. They're the same people, living the same lives and always will be. That's the point.
  21. Once again the Yost is to balme for every loss, and none of the wins crowd, can't seem to reconcile teh fact that sometimes you lose. As for not using Hall to PH, he was in and out of the the On-Deck circle the entire 9th, but they weren't going to use him unless solebody else got one first - the correct decision. When you need 3 runs, is it really smarter to play to have to hit 2 HRs vs. one? Of course not. Until you represent the tying run, your job is to get on base. That's baseball 101. Do you guys complaining want Bill Hall out there just to get on-base? The correct decision was made there - get two guys on then rip one. As far as Hart not starting goes, that was explained quite well also. RH's don't hit at all against Kim, and LH's don't hit againt Willis who is going today. Getting a couple of left handed hitters in there was the correct decision as well (Hart came in pretty handy off the bench too). The (lack of) results by the RH hitters that were in there should provide plenty of evidence why. Why use Capellan? Weren't many other options. For the 100th time, Wise, Turbow, and CoCO cannot pitch every game. Something thet seems to be conveniently lost on those intent on finding ways to blame the manager for each and every loss. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30475
  22. I just saved money on my car insurance.
  23. One run in 2 days - I'm no mathemetician, but I'm thinking even in the NL Central that might not get the job done. You guys who say there is nothing wrong with the live/die, HR or nothing offense are right. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif If this team doesn't figure out how to score runs without the long ball, and win some close games, we are not going anywhere near the playoffs. Can we fire Butch Wynegar again? As I recall, it was all his fault last year.
