I remember when Pedro was dealt to Detroit, I believe for Gary Sutherland. Gosh, what a shaker upper that deal was. Thanks again.
  2. splitterpfj
Thanks Pedro, you rock! The avatar is Mr Garcia, right?

    I just PMed...and I'm sure I'm not alone...good luck choosing someone.

I think he's just playing every right-handed bat he's got.

If either team can get to two runs, this one might not last two hours.

If the broken system will allow it, this is a shrewd move by the Cubs, I would want the Brewers to do the same. At least he'll miss five games, all is not lost. MLB should have addressed this years ago, this nonsense happens all the time.

I don't mean to be contrary, but why? Nobody had posted in this thread for 2 months. The new thread is discussing a possible deal for Greinke, the old thread had 25 solid posts on the subject...why not blend them into one? I'm not telling the new poster that he's done something wrong by starting his thread, I'm showing him what others have said about Greinke, and allowing all of us to pick up the conversation from the new post.

Let's stick with this Greinke thread.... Would you trade for Zach Grienke and what would the price be? Cubs are intrested in him and there offering like 2B Eric Peterson and another prospect. Thoughts?

"Do your damn job"....for those of you scoring at home, this is a bad idea. Whether it's Casey, or any of the other mods, what's wrong with a PM, stating that there are two threads on one topic? I have no idea why MLB has allowed Lee to play for so long following the incident, but I do know I have no authority in the matter....sorry if I hadn't been appropriately furious...it's out of my hands.

If Sheets is out until Sept 1, it looks like Gallardo would get about eight starts. I would guess that's about 50 innings, putting him at 155-160 for the season at that point. That is assuming they never skip his turn due to off-days, which of course they could decide to do along the way. If things play out that way, the team should be able to have him at 175-180 IP at the end of the regular season. If there is a postseason, flip a coin and look away...there won't be an easy answer.

I still love Rickie, and I believe he will be a significant contributor going forward. Even at that, I think the move to sit him right now is absolutely the right choice. Whether it's physical or mental, Rickie is hitting like a pitcher at the moment, and the team is in a pennant race. I like the move, I look forward to the re-launch of #23, which I'm sure will be well worth the wait.

Let's see, some psychology perhaps? Hey Cappy....those dogs in AZ gave up on you because they didn't think you were good enough. The pitching staff has carried the bats since the break, except for the guy who got that first start vs Colorado....I'll bet that guy really wants to win one! C'mon, it's Doug Davis...how hard can it be?

Give me one more than the other guys....again! Anyone not having fun right now needs a new hobby.

Dear Giants: Thank you for responding well to my kind, mature appeal for your success vs the Cubbies on Tuesday. As for Wednesday....knock the snot out of Zambrano.
  16. splitterpfj
That sure looks like good news. Gallardo can hold that spot through the end of July...depth is good.

They were making fun of "Who's Now" on Madison's ESPN radio station yesterday...that says it all.

All in fun...I saw that photo, and I thought it was a perfect fit for this discussion.

    Who's arrogant? This, on a double? http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/Aramis.jpg

Hello to the Cubs fans who are reading this, I hope you're enjoying the race. Thank you for noticing the young talent in Milwaukee...we've waited a long time for this...kindly tell your guys to knock it off and start punching each other again, that was much more fun from our perspective. On behalf of Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy, Corey Hart, Yovanni Gallardo, et al, we appreciate your envy.
  21. splitterpfj
Looking for bobbles...Hit it to Braun. I'm sorry, it'll never happen again...I couldn't resist.

What? No magic number? This is an outrage.

Dr Giants: Good effort lads, although you might want to avoid that Ramirez fellow the next time around. From afar, it appears as though Mr Zito has not lived up to that rather unadvisable contract you folks gave him, would someone your way please encourage him to get going on this issue? You see, we here in Milwaukee have been waiting for our club to best the chaps in the Pacific Coast League for some time now, and those silly Cubs have chosen our year as their time to remain relevant beyond Flag Day. We all know you can't lose 'em all, and I've noticed your squad travels next to Milwaukee. It occurs to me that your nine are likely to win one prior to your next return home, I'd consider it rather sporting of you if you'd handle that business while still in Chicago. Best to Mr Bonds, Splitterpfj

I'm not a Vargas fan to begin with, and this one's against his old team. I don't like it. I'm betting we get our first look at Manny Parra, no later than the 5th inning.

I can see why Braun is getting under their skin, it's not much different than the way most Brewer fans feel about Aramis by now. Oh goodie...a rivalry worth having!
