  1. There's just no room here for this sort of nonsense. Most of what the mods get involved in here stems from the basic premise of "Don't be a jerk." Disagreements will happen, and they actually contribute to the site because they spur debate, which is perfect for a forum like this. The point is, be respectful, "I disagree", or "yes, but", will get you a lot further than "How can you possibly think the way you do?" The vast majority of posters here are outstanding, which is why this site is a model for all others of its kind. Thank you to all of you who make positive contributions.
  2. He'd have to do something insanely stupid off the field to keep himself out of the Hall at this point.
  3. Correct, this is his 4th MLB season, he would not be a free agent until after 2009. What's not to like? Excellent stats, and he'd be here for the next two years. This player will not come cheaply, but it's sure worth asking. career stats
  4. Man, am I dense. I could've done this faster with a box of crayons, but I finally figured it out. The photo is a shot of Mt Rainier's peak, which my wife took on our recent vacation.
  5. I'd love to see Otsuka in Milwaukee, the Brewers will need a new closer next year, I think he'd be worth trying.
  6. AVE OBP SLG OPS 342 386 632 1018 Braun 266 335 421 756 League Average Oh, he's also 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts. Thanks, as always, to baseball-reference.com. Braun's page
  7. Great photos, congratulations!
  8. 8 PM, there are a few out and about right now.
  9. Last summer I mentioned my neighbor's gross toes in this thread...the sandals are back...still bugging me.
  10. MillerParkSouth, follow the link to the birth of the magic...it was an honest attempt to spell "woe solved." forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=1.topic
  11. There were some great deer on the live cam last night. The best time to look would be early AM, or shortly before dark. It amazes me how big some of these guys get. www.deer101.com
  12. 39, first off, I can't help but think of Maxwell Smart every time I see your user name. Your agency has several Brewers now, and seemingly more all the time. I have to assume you have a good relationship with team management, do you think that influences a team's draft day decisions? Could it be that the Brewers do or do not take a kid in round 14, based on past relationships with agents?
  13. My buddy just called, his son just turned 5, and he's been learning to spell a little bit. The other night, they were at dinner, his boy took a sheet out of his mother's address book, and grabbed a green crayon. He wrote something for his dad, then handed it to him with a huge grin. The first ever note from son to father read "Fart Love."
  14. It's ironic to me, there's Suppan, with the big contract, getting hit...while we debate who's spot Gallardo should take to stay in Milwaukee.
  15. jsonline says "they're close." This is reminding me of the earliest days of Saturday Night Live, Chevy Chase as anchor of "Weekend Update".... "Our top story tonight, General Elisimo Francisco Franco is still dead."
  16. My Dad and Uncle always tell me the story of a Brewers vs Yankees game they went to and Caldwell was pitching and he threw a couple of brush back pitches to Reggie Jackson and then got him to pop it up or ground out and Regg was pissed so he threw the bat out toward Caldwell and Mike smashed it on the rubber, broke it and then a brawl broke out. Yes, I remember that clearly, I believe 1978. Reggie got all tough-guy, he took his glasses off, put them in his batting helmet, and charged the mound. Caldwell proceeded to knock the snot out of him in the middle of a huge shoving match...Reggie did not fare well. Uecker was going crazy over the radio, talking about how Caldwell wasn't the sort to back down to anybody, etc.
  17. One of my best childhood friends...he turned 'em down. (begins to meditate, to regain inner peace) www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?name=hilleshiem
  18. Good topic, let's just keep it to one thread.
  19. I was born on the same day as Robin Ventura, I wonder if he knows that? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. There's no way I'd even consider dealing Capuano during this season. Pitching depth is a good thing, last year showed us why in a painful way. I'm sure the team will pay attention to how many IP Yo gets this year, I don't expect him in the Milwaukee rotation through season's end. Next winter, I think Cappy's a good bet to be dealt, but not during this season.
  21. One could choose to build a MLB team by signing aging, expensive players to dangerously long contracts, or one could do so by developing young talent and knowing when to say when. Deal with it Giants.
  22. Another bit of fun news on Dan Scarpetta, Cody's father - Dan never appeared in the majors, but he was traded by the Brewers, to the Texas Rangers in the deal that brought Jim Sundberg to Milwaukee. The other player in the deal...Ned Yost.
  23. Glancing back through things, the picks seem to make sense to me. They fit organizational needs, they seem to have proven skills as opposed to "tools", and they appear to be the type that will sign fairly quickly. Nobody knows for a while of course, but at this point, I like it.
