  1. Yep; that's what I do with my computer with This. You'll still need an audio cable that runs separate from this though. You'll plug the HDMI into "HDMI 2" port and then red and white audio cables into the "DVI IN" port.
  2. Yes it appears you can. the LN37A550 has a VGA port on the back of it. So simply plug a VGA cable into it from the labptop for video, and a simple 3.5 mm sound cable from laptop to TV for audio, and voila; you've got mlb.tv greatness in 37".
  3. Wow. Real cool! I'll put my name in for the Grab bag please! thanks again!
  4. For the most part; you'll be better off running 720p; especially for sports. 1080i can feel a little slow and have a "stepping" problem when it comes to fast-moving sports and action.
  5. Thanks for the replies; and that would be great eanelson if you could try, it's definitely a service I would love having, but $110 for simply supplementing my Brewers baseball time might not be worth it. OHP, that's sort of what I was expecting the answer to be. Mlb.tv makes it sounds like if there is any detection at all of a proxy being used, they'll simply block playback altogether.
  6. You are 100% correct. I guess I'm just thinking of that glorious FedEx envelope that I hope comes every year.
  7. I believe they were sent FedEx if I remember correctly.
  8. No I know blackout rules apply to me for the regular season, but what about this upcoming Spring Training game that's on mlb.tv but not on FSN or MLB Network; does anyone know if I could watch that? Also, does anyone know if just a simple proxy server would allow me to get around blackout restrictions or not? Thanks in advance
  9. I know you can buy archived photo's from jsonline's site, but it doesn't look like they really have what you'd be looking for. http://jsonline.mycapture.com/mycapture/enlarge.asp?image=20606062&event=603539&CategoryID=32271 That's the only one that comes close.
  10. Honestly, I would probably say yes. Especially since you're going to be using it for sports, the extra 60 Hz makes a quite noticeable difference. And, as stupid as it sounds, the Red Touch of Color really does make the tv look just that much more slick. Than when you add in the better contrast ratio and extra HDMI port, personally, I believe it's worth the extra money if you've got it. Amazon has it for $1442 and you won't pay shipping or sales tax. That said, you definitely will not be dissapointed with the 550.
  11. With what's Macha's already said, and what worked for us in the past, I'm going to guess: Weeks Hardy Braun Fielder Hart 3B Cameron Kendall Pitcher We'll see though; it should be interesting. I can't wait to start seeing some games being played!
  12. Not only are plasma screens more reflective, but most actually have a chemical compound that is put on the screen to try and make it less reflective. Note to anyone who owns a plasma: never ever use cleaning supplies on a plasma screen like Windex or something of that sort. The chemicals are too harsh and will screw with the anti-glare compound. Also, make sure to use a microfiber cloth as even just a paper towel can be too abrasive for the sensitive material. As far as 720p/1080i/1080p, I'm going to disagree with the majority here that say there is not much of a difference. If you're watching blu-ray's or HD-DVDs, you're going to want a 1080p tv for anything over 40" or so. Anything under 40 or so, definitely do not spend the extra money; in that case it's fairly unnoticeable, but I know I just recently upgraded my Westinghouse 32" 720p LCD to a Panasonic 46" 1080p Plasma and besides the difference in size and make of the tv, the 1080p is a huge difference to me. When playing xbox 360 or ps3, or watching blu-rays/HD-DVD's, it is absolutely a huge difference. Plasma/LCD? It's definitely up to the user. Both technologies have gotten so much better with time that they're main weaknesses of the past aren't as big of a deal anymore. Plasma's last longer than they used to and burn-in isn't as much of a concern. The anti-glare coatings some of the tv's have fix that once big-issue with plasmas. LCD's are starting to get quicker response times (which more $$$), and are starting to get better for sports and quick action. Honestly, I would probably reccommend a plasma tv, just because of it's fluid motion (480 hz as opposed to 60/120 on an LCD), and the higher contrast ratios which will make you're blacks blacker instead of somewhat gray like they are on my LCD. I would go with LCD if you're looking for under 40", have a ton of sunlight or reflective lights in your room, don't want to spend the extra $$$ on electricity every month (plasma's consume a lot), or just want something thinner and more lightweight. If you do decide on a plasma though, be very careful for the first 100 hours of usage. The first 100 hours are the most sensitive to burn in. So you want to have something on the tv without the bars (widescreen) and without a static image for an extended period of time. When I got mine, I ran Planet Earth on HD-DVD on it for a full day before even using the set. Than I just made sure to change channels every 15 minutes or so, as to not let watermarks or anything burn in. Also, make sure you never have to set the TV on it's side for anything as it will ruin the set. Any way you go with this decision though, you'll for sure be happy with the product.
  13. Ahh, gotcha; I'm blind. the whole "fielder" and that being his last name screwed me up.
  14. Really? Career numbers: Cecil: .255/.345/.482/.827 Prince: .278/.370/.533/.903 Not to mention Princes 12 SB, to Cecil's 2.
  15. Would anyone have a bigger version of these pictures? If so, and you could email it to BlueDevils4life1(AT)wi.rr.com that would be really really cool. I've got a 22" monitor and I need a good background image, but these look too blurry stretched out to fit it. Thanks in advance. These pictures give me the chills every time because I just think of the noise that came from that stadium when it happened. Wow, I hope I get to experience that again in my life.
  16. Sadly I'm only 19, but yeah we have Charter so it usually works out that we get to see the game, but if there is a Bucks' game on that night the Bucks have precedent (for reasons unbeknown to me). I may still try mlb.tv to watch other teams' games and for archived games. Pretty chunk of change though.
  17. Nevermind, Just found my answer: "Reminder: When you are traveling and accessing your MLB.TV subscription, you will be subject to that area's local blackout restrictions and not your home territory blackout restrictions."
  18. That's sort of what I had figured. There's no way to try and sign up as a MN resident or anything like that is there to avoid blackouts? It's probably all based off IP address?
  19. Wow! Those new features look absolutely awesome. I especially like the live player look-in to players that you're interested in seeing their at-bats. Now, it is to my understanding if I live in WI; I will be blacked out for many of the games correct? I've thought about buying something like this because I live in La Crosse during the school year and go to school there, and when games are on WMLW and it's during the Bucks' season, we don't get those games (we don't have WMLW up here, and FSN will show the Bucks); and I once logged into to someone elses Mlb.tv account and it was blacked out. Am I correct in these statements? I've also thought about buying a slingbox and having the games slingboxed from my TV's at home in Waukesha; and that's a possibility, but I don't really have a use for a $100+ Slingbox besides this one application. Any help is appreciated.
  20. I like the "Chicago can win 120 games as far as I care, we'll just come in and win the Wild Card with 95 wins and join the playoffs" Great interviews, thanks for sharing
  21. So for my introductory information systems class here at UW-LaCrosse I need to interview someone who works in either IT or I-S. I don't really know anyone in my circle of family and friends who works in the field, so I figured I'd come to the trusty brewer fans. It's just 5 quick questions and I'm to write a one-page paper summarizing your answers. If anyone would be willing to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated; please PM me and I can send you the questions.
  22. Thanks a walking-salesman up here in la crosse, my roomates and I have got an absolutely crazy deal on our Charter, so I've got to say I would be disappointed if they were to go under. We get digital cable, showtime, starz, HBO, all sports channels like espnu, espnnews, cbssports, as well as the second-tier internet for $59 a month; would hate to lose out on that deal.
  23. I as well would looovvvee a cirillo bobblehead. Maybe the first bobblehead with the 90's logo/uniform?
