  1. I'm real glad we got him back at a nice reduced cost. You've just got to love Capuano and he should add some much needed depth in due time.
  2. I can't wait to finally be able to watch that game again. I've had the itch to watch it practically ever since I saw it live at Miller Park. I also am really hoping that cool "thank you fans" montage that they showed on the montage the last couple weeks of the season and the playoff games is included on it. Should be a really cool DVD.
  3. My worst fast-food experience was when I ordered a McRib (which I love) "Plain"; as in I didn't want the onions and such. I drove away and found that I had received a McRib without barbecue sauce on it, and let me tell you; those pieces of meat look absolutely disgusting when you can see what they really are (a grey patty with fake grooves and grillmarks). I ate a bite and wanted to vomit. I still love the McRib, but wow that almost scarred me.
  4. It sounds like the book Ball Four by Jim Bouton would be a perfect book for you. It's basically a journal written by Jim, a AAAA-type knuckleballer. He writes about the entire 1969 season that started with the Pilots. It's a lot about the personal side of baseball and a lot of humorous stuff that goes on in the bullpen and in the clubhouse and such. I would highly recommend it.
  5. You can always park off of Hawley road on one of the side streets for free. Take the Fiesta Garibaldi or many of the other numerous shuttles right up to the gate. That is of assuming, of course, that you're not looking to tailgate.
  6. I'm really interested in this as well. There were so many games this year I wish I would have recorded through my TV tuner on my computer. I got really excited by your title because I thought they had announced them. Hopefully we'll get lots of them, as there were lots to remember! Which games do you think they'll have? -Playoff Clinching Game -Fielder September Walkoff -Braun September Walkoff -Playoff victory -Sheets complete game shutout?
  7. I'm definitely glad we picked up the option. We got a great fielding, veteran, power hitting CF for 9.25 million virtually when you consider the buyout price we would have had to pay.
  8. well I signed up and put in an order for Dwade. Looks like this site definitely has potential but it seems like it just needs more users before it can get real good. I'm definitely more into Protrade. It's free and I can almost cash out for a $100 gift card already.
  9. That's a good point. I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the inventory goes more than 25% off in the coming weeks to unload for easier renovations. I scored an Octoberfest shirt of both colors, and some pennants/programs and a bumper sticker. Great deals to be had
  10. Truly a sad day. It was obviously inevitable with the Melvin extension, but I was hoping at least for another year or two... Good luck in Seattle Jack Z, and most importantly: THANK YOU!!
  11. I was thinking about the same thing at the couple of playoff games I was at. I also noticed that whoever made the banners/budgeted room for them didn't think too optimistically with the Brewers. I noticed there isn't that much room for many banners if/when needed
  12. Yep, that would be 3rd Street here in downtown La Crosse.
  13. I would absolutely love Field of Dreams, Casino and Casablanca. All classics that I've never seen (I know! How could I have never seen Field of Dreams?) I also made the mistake of betting on HD-DVD, but luckily I wasn't an early adopter or anything so I didn't buy at an extreme premium or anything. I still use the player for my fairly vast collection and because it's a great up-converter.
  14. I know not really what you're looking for, but the "Thank You Fans 3 Million Times Over" montage is with O.A.R. -- This Town. Anyone else get chills everytime watching that montage the last series at home and the playoff games? I would be very interested if someone has a link to the video online anywhere. Edit: The video in question:
  15. I can also attest that 870's are a great gun. For cheap guns I would honestly suggest going with a used gun. For the most part, nothing really can go wrong with a gun. I bought a Remington Wingmaster TC Trap from a gun show in Waukesha for $350. After contacting Remington I found out it was manufactured in 1971 and is still in absolute perfect condition. I see this gun regularly go for 500-600 in online auctions. I would say either a local gun shops used supplies or a gun show that comes to town. If you want new, there really aren't too many deals that differ from place to place. Most stores don't allow coupons or any other promotional offers on firearms. You can, however; get a 30$ mail in rebate right now if you purchase a new one. http://www.remington.com/...08_load_up_on_savings.asp
  16. Well if we look at it strictly mathematically: The last trade on light crude oil as of tonight for November delivery was $80.85 for a barrel. There are 42 gallons in a barrel (80.85 / 42 = $1.925) Then add in all the gasoline taxes (Wisconsin has about 51.3 cents of tax on each gallon) so we're looking at around $2.50. Now considering the refining process isn't 100% effective, and that only about half a barrel is made into gasoline; I would expect gas to hover around $2.99 all winter long, barring any major supply/demand obstructions.
  17. If anyone has some good high-resolution pictures I would be very interested in them. My monitor is over-pixelating any picture I've chosen so far
  18. I've got to admit, for the most park they were very classy. I got a lot of congratulatory remarks and "good lucks"; it was strange, but good to see
  19. Wow, we finally have made it to this point. I've been to the last two games and can't tell you the emotional rollercoaster rides I've gone on. After Rickie Weeks homerun someone could have punched me in the face and told me my dog died and I still would have had one of the widest smiles of my life on my face. It was one of the happier days I can remember. Today; not so much; in fact, quite the opposite. So let's go get em' tomorrow and cheer on the Marlins like you never have before and hope that we will have attained what was only an expectation 161 games ago by the end of the day! If you're parked in the Giants lot and we're in the playoffs after the game ends, feel free to join our champagne shower!
  20. I've got to admit, I'm not the hugest McClung fan on the field; I still don't have too much faith in him (though it's growing lately); but you guys are absolutely right, he is what all professional baseball players should be like when they're preparing and playing baseball. When I went to Cincinnati for the series in August, he signed all three days for any fan that wanted a signature before the game, walking down the entire line, joking with people and taking pictures, etc... He was so down-to-earth it was extremely encouraging to see. Stuff like giving Gatorade to the ball-boy a couple games ago when he had to run all the way to CF to get a ball; he seems to really love the game of baseball and that's really cool to see.
  21. You're right; rather "economic slowdown"
  22. http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/sports/brew/img/sep08/plate925.jpg Just after posting, the game recap article was up on JSonline and this got the "big picture treatment" This will be my wallpaper for a while. (well really only 2 or 3 days until we've got champagne shower pictures http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif)
  23. So many good desktop background possibilities here: Completely agree! Does anyone know where a good place to find these pictures in higher resolution? Jsonline usually has one or two of the pictures (the ones that are linked directly in the article) in high-resolution but other than that I can never find any. I've had some very pixelated backgrounds over these last couple of days on my 22" widescreen monitor.
  24. Well, I'm coming home from school in La Crosse this weekend to go to the three games, making me miss Oktoberfest festivities; so this better be all I've dreamed of the last decade as a brewer fan! We have a chance to do something incredible these next three days, let's not blow it! Pray for a AAA lineup and a 75 pitch limit for dempster. Oh and Suppan lowering his 10+ ERA in September too, that'll help. GO BREWERS!!!
  25. I guess that's why they say recessions are almost good in the longrun because they streamline the economy and weed out the weak...
