  1. I was waiting for "And the Brewers have the lead" on the single - almost but not quite. The HR call is plenty though.
  2. "Lots of changes for the Brewers in the 6th. If you want them, buy a newspaper tomorrow."
  3. Ueck as they finish up the National Anthem: "And our final score tonight, Brewers 6, Reds 5. Wow. It didn't take Francis Scott Key that long to write it." Might be worth tuning in tonight.
  4. Larry the Lynx and Jack the Rabbit. Intolerable.
  5. Ha, Tony makes 2 pitching changes in a row in a 6 run game in the 8th and they both fail.
  6. Axford now unavailable tomorrow so Trevor can get 600. Dave Nilsson kind of represented the late 90s Brewers teams for me - good offense, no defense.
  7. Yes plate ump is bad - ball 3 to Ruiz was really strike 3 per Corey and Bob and gameday and Loe apparently - inning is a whole lot different if that is called right.
  8. 48-53 before losing 5 in a row at the end of July. 31-31 at home if they win.
  9. Pads announcers spent it seemed like half the pregame talking about how wily scrappy vet David Eckstein will give their young team valuable needed experience for the playoffs. Sweet.
  10. baybeachbum: I remember thinking Yount had a bead on it all the way after a great jump and not being surprised he got there. My brother thought there was no way he'd make it and it is one of the great game ending catches of all time. The Oriole fans were always pretty mellow and they were all rooting for the no no where we were too. They all remember 82 but there wasn't much of a rivalry by the late 80s, which was a down time for them. I had a friend who worked for EBW's law firm and their seats were always available for the Brewer games. The next year we went up there for opening day (had to buy tix for that one) and Higuera beat them 12-0 and I thought this is the worst major league team I've ever seen and they went on to lose the next 20 as well. Towards the end on the no-hitter I was thinking what are the odds I'd see the Brewers beat the Orioles 7-0 to start a season 9-0 and leave the game unhappy. Fortunately that didn't happen. It's also nice not to be on that list with the Mets and Pads. Good game last night. Needed that after the beat down out here early in the season. The bag is off my head.
  11. That was my brother and me (#118 above). Along with the video, my brother also has his scorecard signed by Nieves after the game as proof. Paciorek made a great catch early on to keep it going. I remembered the 20-7 game as 7 in one inning to tie it up and then 13 the next (listened to the Angels broadcast that day). Now I see it was 1 then 6 then 13.
  12. Some generous calls for Jimenez. No wonder he's undefeated at home. That and I guess the Rox are built for their squirrelly park. They are pretty much the worst team in the league on the road.
  13. I was at that game in Fenway where Caldwell gave up 4 in an inning. It had a happy ending.
  14. That's 2 W's in a week with 3 hits and 1 LOB for the game.
  15. Brennaman: "Randy Wolf has it all together now." Who'd have thought?
  16. hawing is correct ueck said many times how fine it was at the park
  17. Coming late to this since we've been out of the country for 25 days. 1. Nieves no-hitter at Memorial Stadium. My brother and I were in the first row behind the Orioles' dugout in Brewer hats and we made the broadcast back to Milwaukee and the 1987 highlight video. It poured rain on the way up from DC and we almost turned back. 2. Brewers first playoff win in Yankee Stadium, 1981. Molitor won in it the 8th after Fingers blew a long save in the 7th but finished for the win (whatever happened to the 6 and 9 out save?) Saw #2 the next day - Brewers won 2-1 on 4 hits behind Vuckovich and Fingers. Then saw Reggie win it for the Yanks the next night before getting robbed at gunpoint on W. 68th St. on my 25th birthday. 3. Bellhorn's switch hit grand slams in 2002, my first game ever at Miller Park. Sexson had a GS in the 9th and the Brewers got the tying run up after being down 10-0. 4. Bat Day 1970 when the guy who'd been on the scoreboard all summer came down since they drew 44K. My first Brewer game ever. Walton tied it with a 3 run double in the 8th and and Gus Gil won it in the 9th. 5. Mike Caldwell giving up 4 HRs in an inning in Fenway on Memorial Day 1980 after the Brewers staked him to an 8-1 lead - they then beat up ex-Brewer Skip Lockwood and won 19-8 which was their record for runs scored until they got 20 in 1990. 6. The Brewers giving up 6 in the 9th and 5 in the 10th to lose 11-6 and get swept in a DH by the Orioles in the mid-70s. Still remember them playing the washerwoman jig as Irish Tom Murphy trotted out to blow the save. Saw Braun's 1st AB, hit, run, HR etc. in San Diego in 2007 also.
  18. All 5 times the Mets have scored this series the Brewers answered in the bottom of the inning. I'm kind of unhappy when they don't score.
  19. I think Macha was setting Braun up in a situation where he has been failing and in a sense took the bat out of his hands as well as Escobar's. It's like he hasn't been watching the games. And even if you ignore that and just look at the stats the bunt takes you from a greater than even chance of scoring (112%) to less than even (94%). And it's in the 1st inning!
  20. I have now officially joined the Ken Macha is an idiot club. Braun has been horrible all year with a runner on 3d less than 2 out. So why would you give up an out to set up that situation instead of taking 3 cracks with a RISP against a guy who all he's done all day is give up a double, has a near 5 ERA etc.
  21. Not sure if this will work - gameday for Gonzalez AB in the 8th: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2010_05_01_milmlb_sdnmlb_1&mode=gameday
  22. First time I've walked out of stadium after a Brewer win since May 03. That includes a game at MP where I saw the only loss in a 9 game homestand. Very nice. Trevor got a pretty nice reception, particularly considering how ugly the crowd was after the 8th. Really good to see him lock it down. I think that would have been his last save attempt, at least in a long while, if he'd blown it. If gameday is right, both teams had about the same amount to complain about on balls and strikes over the past 2 nights but the Brewers did a whole lot less whining. That's consistent with how it seemed at the park.
