  1. Out of it and they don't even flip the order.
  2. Sox won so the Twins will stay 1/2 back with a win.
  3. Sort of last year: the top 3 were in the NL West (Arizona and then the Rockies and Padres tied with the Phillies) and the Padres went out (and down to 4th) when they lost the playoff.
  4. Bartman moment for some kid in the bottom of the 10th. Probably doesn't matter but maybe it hits off the wall and takes a funny hop and you don't have to waste the out getting the guy to 3d.
  5. What a day for Melvin Mora. I think Helms stranded 10 once.
  6. Last visit to County Stadium by the Orioles in 82 they started out on Friday night with 4 in the top of the 1st. In the bottom of the 1st Molitor got on, Yount homered and the Brewers won 15-6.
  7. Fun fact. Cubs are 2-4 at home against the Brewers this year and 27-4 at home against everybody else.
  8. Looks like another W for the mighty Grant BallFour.
  9. For his career Branyan has HRs in 5.9% of his ABs (counting walks).
  10. Agreed. The 2d out was worth 16% and the last out was worth 17%.
  11. It looked like BBTN spent a lot of time talking about the Brewers last night but I was somewhere where I couldn't hear it. Did anyone see it? What was the takeaway?
  12. Take away the 8 ER from last Cubs game and Soup is right at 3.00 for the year.
  13. If Kapler stays put they have to pitch to Prince. Worst possible time to go for 3d.
  14. So maybe you leave in Carlos and bring in Shouse to face Helton. Either way you have Shouse ready for Helton right?
  15. I will be at Petco tonight cursing Zambrano and all things Cub.
  16. Also when Gagne's come in a semi-closer-type situation at home (tie going into the 9th or later) he's pitched scoreless twice. There's a "result" that doesn't show up as a win or a save but he did the job. And it does matter if you keep it a tie even after blowing the save so you still have a chance to win so he does have something to say in those results.
  17. So far we've lost 1 game all year where Gagne blew a save. So even if the hypothetical other closer were perfect we wouldn't be in first place. 1 loss in 13 save opportunities (or maybe 2 of 14) isn't too bad.
  18. Too bad about strike1, we needed the no pitch win for Shouse.
  19. Great thread. Jason the flags are now my background, thanks much. Brews, Pads and Nats all in 1st!
  20. My son and I stayed up for all 22 innings. He wanted to see the postgame show. And both my kids now know about cheese sandwiches. As a SD homer, it should never have gotten past the 14th. The 2-2 pitch before the run was walked in was strike 3 and the 3-1 when the Pads had the bases loaded 2 out in the bottom of the inning was ball 4. And Vasgergian was messed up all inning; he kept thinking the tying run was the winning run.
