  1. Only 21 hours, 30 minutes, and 5 seconds more and you could have broken a record! http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-3000/longest-whistling-marathon/
  2. Looking at the "Cards vs. Wolf" and the "Brewers vs. Lohse" career stats in the in-game thread puts "good vibes" in my head.
  3. Has LaRussa announced his lineup yet? I wonder if he's waiting to see what the weather does and is contemplating not starting Carpenter.
  4. I'm not a weather expert, but I have monitoring the radar. Seems to me that it's very possible that the game gets played without any rain delays. edit: Current Hourly forecast - keeps getting better and better. 5. Does he confide in the rest of his coaching staff at all when making these decisions? Sveum? Shelby? Iorg? Sedar? Narron? None of these guys suggested to Ron that he may want to rethink this??
  6. Why do I get the feeling that I'm going to be screaming at the TV tonight when Jay hits a ball not quite to the warning track and slightly right of CF.
  7. You have got to be kidding me!! If you are going to do this, at the very least move Hairston to the 2 spot.
  8. That is interesting considering how they have such a reputation for being the most passionate fans in the game. I will say that it appears that the prices they are charging are much greater than the NLCS prices at Miller Park . Our loge level seats in section 215 near home plate have a face value of $75. The lowest price I saw available on the Cards web site for tonight's game was $79 for upper deck on the 1st base line. All the other prices were above $100.
  9. Yeah, I think LaRussa is about the only manager I can think of that could figure out a way to use 7 different pitchers in a 12-3 win.
  10. I still have not been charged. I'm slightly concerned about it. My season ticket representative with the Brewers is checking into it.
  11. Last night during the game, one of the announcers stated something along the lines that whichever of these teams wins this series and then possibly the World Series will have a greater chance of retaining their prized sluggers (Prince and Albert). I wasn't sure if their line of thinking was that the team that advances would also gain a little more revenue or if the players would be more apt to stay on a championship team or both. Regardless as to whether or not you think it would be a good idea to spend the money required to keep Fielder, I'm curious what people think of the above comment. Do you think going to the World Series (and possibly winning the WS) increases our chances of keeping him?
  12. Fine, but I hope when you are in public you take into account the people that are around you before dropping F-Bombs. Not sure if you have kids or not jamie, but it can be quite annoying when you have smaller children and someone near you is loud and has the vocabulary of a drunken sailor and does not know how to censor them selves. Also, I think talking in that manner around elderly people is disrespectful. The fact that swearing has no shock value any more is a sad comment on our society.....maybe the movie Idiocracy is not that far fetched.
  13. Why would there be an off day between games 4 and 5? Maybe I've not paid close attention recently, but haven't the off days always been the travel days between games 2 and 3 and between games 5 and 6? I was thinking the same thing. I don't ever remember there being an off day between games 4 and 5.
  14. I guess I may be a little biased, since I have absolutely zero interest in the NBA. Hard to get too excited about a sport where 50% of the teams make an endless playoff season and the regular season really is meaningless. I very rarely hear any office chatter about the NBA where I work. Pro football and baseball and college sports dominate most of the sports talk among people I know. Anyway, didn't mean to change the direction of this thread. I think every team's true fans feels that their team has character, but I think even a non-Brewer fan would have to admit that the Brewers truly do have character.
  15. Nice article. Always nice to get that kind of positive attention on a national level. However, I didn't get this at all: In a time when the perceived popularity of baseball is dipping, when football has long overtaken baseball as America’s Pastime and when the NBA has reemerged as the viable No. 2, these Brewers — today’s version of the 2004 “Idiot” Red Sox — are just what Selig's sport needs. I can buy the football argument, but the NBA at #2?? Huh?!?
  16. I noticed yesterday that they blocked off a large amount of bleacher in right field for additional press. It also looks like the 4 or 5 rows of bleachers in front of the press were empty. It's a shame that those seats have to go to waste. Also in our section (215) there is a network camera in the front row. Because of this there are about 20 or 30 seats surrounding and behind this camera that are not being used (or sold). I'm not sure why the camera needs to be there. During season games the camera in this area is on a platform near the corner of the press box (between sections 215 and 216).
  17. I think jj meant that she would have to have a full season package to get the same seat that she had during the season. I have a 20 game pack and the same seat for every game of the playoffs, but not the same seat that I usually sit in during the season. Considering that she is in the front row behind home plate, I'm guessing she has at least a 40 game package. I thought I heard that she splits a full season with someone else.
  18. For the most part, I think Roenicke has done a good job this year and this post season. Hard to argue with the results so far. However, I have had some frustrations over the last couple of games with how he has handled pitching. My grievances: Game 4 - A) I don't think he should have stuck with Wolf after the first inning. He had Narvy and Estrada in the bullpen. B) Why use Narveson in the 6th? It seemed like this was almost a surrender move. Like he was saying "Ok, just get us through the rest of the game and we will see what we can do on Friday" In the 6th and beyond it's time to bring in Loe, Hawkins, Saito...etc. Game 5 - Gallardo was up to about 105 or 106 pitches in the 6th inning and was laboring. He had absolutely no one warming up in the bullpen (I think he finally got someone up with 2 outs in the 6th). It was like he was a deer caught in the headlights. I was screaming at him from section 215 (I'm sure he heard me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ). Didn't really agree with bringing in Axford for another inning, but I guess it worked for him. Is Hawkins injured or something?
  19. I have a preferred parking pass for Monday night - $25. I'm in Waukesha today and tomorrow (will also be at the game tomorrow). I'm in downtown Milwaukee during the day on Monday.
  20. Ok, just got back a little while ago. Despite my post earlier in this thread, I found myself standing from pretty much the 8th inning on. Not because of people standing in front of me, but because I just could not sit!! I have a feeling my throat is going to be quite sore tomorrow!
  21. I agree that the thunder sticks provide more noise and are pretty cool visually, but they are somewhat of a pain to keep track of. You are not going to hold on to them the entire game and where do you put them when you are not holding them. I just hope they don't go to pom poms like AZ did. I realize that AZ did not want to look like they were copying the Brewers, but they should have at least made the pom poms a lighter color. Could not really see them that wiell on TV from full crowd camera shot (like you can the white rally towels).
  22. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw that was Charlie the Unicorn
  23. Not sure if it's going to be open at game time, but it's open right now. I can see it from my office. edit: Just called the roof hotline. Still not updated from last Sunday.
  24. Yeah, and with Selig throwing out the first pitch today, I think my avatar is appropriate. edit: I just really hope no one boos him. I'll never get that. Without him, this day is not possible.
  25. I understand that this is game 5. I understand the need for fan support. I was at game 1 and 2. I did plenty of standing and yelling and towel waving at those games. At appropriate times. Please don't be one of those guys who thinks, because of the weight of the game, it's for some reason necessary to stand the entire game. In the 2nd inning when there is one out and no one on don't stand and yell at people and question their "fandom" because they are not standing and cheering throughout the entire game like they are in the student section at a Friday Night HS football game. I'm a short guy, my son is even shorter. We love to stand and cheer and go crazy during key moments in games, but it's also much easier for us to see what is going on when everyone is sitting. We purchased seats for a reason. Bombers, I'm not saying this is you, but many times I find people who think it's necessary to stand throughout an entire baseball game (regardless if it's an elimination game) and get upset with those around them who do not feel the same way to be bandwagon fans who know very little about the game of baseball. Don't get me wrong, bandwagon fans are needed. The money they spend on games, food, parking, apparel is all helpful to keep this team competitive. However, the true fans are not the ones that yell and scream the loudest. The true fans are the ones that continue to spend money and invest time on the team when they lose 90-100 games and finish 20-30 games out of 1st. Not everyone is wired the same way. Don't get upset at the people who do not stand and show their "fandom" in the same manner as you do and please don't be that annoying guy that will not sit down when everyone is yelling at him/her to do so.
