  1. What!?! If that's true that's completely ridiculous.
  2. I would go to one of the many bars on Bluemound and take a shuttle into the game. Find a bar that looks good to you. Park around there. Grab a drink or some food, then hop on the shuttle. I've been going to Rounding Third on 63rd this year, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. Kelly's, Long Wongs, Steve's, Mo's, etc... They all have shuttles. Of course if you are attending the game with younger kids (not sure if you are) this is probably not the best of options since several of the patrons on the bus (especially on the way back) will be younger men who have probably over-imbibed and who's favorite adjective is the "f-bomb" .
  3. You didn't have to say "come on people", you should have said "come on Patrick" since apparently it's just me that's being insensitive and politically incorrect.
  4. You guys make it sound like he's completely unstable and we never know when this disorder (please note that cancer is disease and this is a disorder....comparing the two is not appropriate) may worsen again and he won't be able to pitch. If that's the case, I sure hope that they have no plans to sign him to a LT contract. Of course, I don't believe this is the case as I saw him at Fan Fest and I have seen him do a few interviews. While he's an "odd duck", I don't think he's completely unstable.
  5. Again, some of you are not really reading my posts and/or twisting my words. The following is basically what I have been stating. A) The condition was so bad that he could not even do his Job. B) He sought treatment C) The treatment and medication was effective enough that he could pitch again in front of packed stadiums. D) Despite this remarkable progress, no one finds it odd that he can not stand on a stage with the rest of his team mates for 15 to 20 minutes. I guess I'm just not as sympathetic as most of you are towards a guy who's getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. Fulfill this obligation like the rest of your teammates did. It's really not asking that much.
  6. Exactly. It's analogous to saying someone's fight with cancer is "getting old". Please read this: http://socialanxietydisorder.about.com/od/celebritieswithsad/p/zackgreinke.htm Again, I am well aware of his past and what he has gone through. Call me callus, and maybe I'm just a little more "old school" than most, but it just seems like he uses it at times to get out of certain obligations. It was so bad at one point that he could not even pitch. He sought treatement and apparently this treatment was effective enough for him to be able to get back on the mound. And as far as the Cancer comparison...no, it not analogous to saying that....to me it's like someone who has fought cancer, got it out of their system, but still uses it as an excuse years later not to do certain things that they are fully capable of doing. Now, I will say that maybe there is a valid excuse for not being there yesterday (needing rest because he's on short rest is not one to me...yes, standing on a stage for a half hour can really drain a person) I will give him credit for showing up for the Fan Fest in January. If he can do that, why can't he show up for this rally? As far as a switch he can flip on and off..is it just a coincidence that he can flip this switch on days when he is pitching?
  7. I understand that. However, again, if you can pitch in front of 40,000+ fans, surely you can stand on a stage for 15 minutes with your team in front of 5,000 (?) fans....and why couldn't he just hang out in the lockeroom and at least on Friday night with his team and enjoy. Is he also a alcoholic?
  8. I guess I'll be one of the few guys that does care about it regardless of how good he is. I know not everyone will agree with this, but I think one of the reasons you get paid so much money to be an athlete is dealing with the "fame" that comes with it. If he doesn't want to speak..fine, I get that...but at least show up with the rest of your team. Also, if you get a chance to watch replays of last Friday's celebration...see if you can find Grienke anywhere. Yes, I understand that he had to pitch the next day...but to be completely absent from that celebration? I understand his past and his issue with people, but if he has learned to be comfortable enough to pitch and perform in front of large crowds, surely he can stand on a stage for 15 minutes and join his team in this celebration. I appreciate what he does on the field, but this "quirkiness" act is getting old.
  9. I use to have no problem posting pictures on brewerfan. However, recently (last 3 or 4 months?) I am unable to post a picture. When I try to upload a picture to my album it takes for ever and never completes. I have to exit out of my posting and then go back in and the picture shows up in the album. However, when I try to post it, I just get the "red x" that tells me that the picture did not work. I've tried on a couple of different computers and have used both explorer and firefox but I can not get it to work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
  10. I'm just hoping Reyes doesn't visit Brewerfan.net as he is a guy I might like to see the Brewers pursue in the offseason...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I'm not sure that this would be the case. IIRC, in past years they had weekday games that started at 1pm or 3pm. edit: here is a partial schedule from last year that shows games that started early and mid-afternoon during the week (Oct 6th and Oct 7th). Looks like it was the Rays/Rangers series that got the "horrible times" last year. However, I think with the playoffs starting on a weekend this year it will lower the chances of there being 4 playoff games on a weekday (next Tuesday would be the only day that this could happen I believe): Game Teams Date Time TV Result Game 1 Rangers at Rays Oct. 6 1:37 p.m. TBS TEX 5, TB 1 Game 2 Rangers at Rays Oct. 7 2:37 p.m. TBS TEX 6, TB 0 Game 3 Rays at Rangers Oct. 9 5:07 p.m. TBS TB 6, TEX 3 Game 4 Rays at Rangers Oct. 10 1:07 p.m. TBS TB 5, TEX 2 Game 5 Rangers at Rays Oct. 12 8:07 p.m. TBS TEX 5, TB 1
  12. Not to sidetrack this thread too much, but I guess I'm old since I almost always sign my emails (most people that send me emails do the same). Possibly the only time I don't is if I'm involved in a string of emails with the same person.
  13. The only flaw I see with the Game 2 start time is that doesn't Philly have to play at night because of parking/traffic issues with the Eagles game? I don't see the Philly game starting at 5pm...they would probably need more time than that to clear the parking lot after the Eagles game.
  14. Think about what time that game would end in Philly with a 9:50 start. I'm sure they will not allow that to happen and may bump up the currently scheduled start times on Sunday.
  15. Apparently Schlitz001 has it all figured out somehow, including the times.
  16. I don't think there is any effort to schedule around the Packer game. There are two NL playoff games scheduled for Sunday. I think the current slotted start times of those games are something like 5pm and 8:30pm. One game is in Philly and one is in Milw (Both NFL "areas"). MLB always starts their playoff games later on Sunday to avoid competing with the NFL as much as possible.
  17. My guess is MLB would prefer to move the 9:30 pm game to 12:30 (and move it to TNT until the conclusion of the earlier game), an hour and a half after the 11 am game (presumably Cards at Phils), then move the 2:30 and 6 Central games back by an hour and a half to 4 and 7:30 Central. That's quite of bit of negotiating with the network (which would be sacrificing some prime time on the West Coast) and the teams involved and this is what is taking so long. Still, couldn't they have seen this coming several days ago?? The only possible "West Coast" team that could have been a home team on Saturday was AZ. Other than that, the differences between Det or Tex (the other teams that were fighting it out for home field advantage) are not really that great. There really were not that many different scenarios that they would have had to figure out. If they are having all sorts of conference calls today to try to hammer this all out it seems like pretty poor planning.
  18. The one behind him says "Wild Card". You can see it when he turns around in the clip.
  19. There are actually two different signs at about the 0:51 mark. One says Wild Card and the other says Central Division champions.
  20. That makes some sense and yes the 11am game would seem to be the most logical choice for the Milwaukee game. In regards to the Rays starting at 10:30pm. I understand what you are saying in that even if there was a West Coast game it would probably still involve a East coast team. However, there is a difference between actaully attending a late starting game and just watching it on TV.
  21. I'll also say that one of the things that really added to the excitement last night was that the season ended on a Wednesday in prime time and was not competing with NFL games. I wasn't really thrilled when the schedule came out for the 2011 season and it showed the final games ending on a weekday, but I now I really see the value in that. I hope they continue to do that.
  22. Is this just based on what logically makes sense or do you have some sort of inside scoop? As it was stated in another thread, there is a 9:30pm time slot (Central time) that they need to fill on Saturday and they don't have a west coast game to put in that slot. Seems like the Brewers could also end up in that slot.
  23. That's a shame and was also one of the reasons I wasn't necessarily rooting for Tampa Bay to get the WC over Boston (Tampa doesn't support their team either). When I watch the playoffs I like to see packed stadiums full of fans that really care about their teams, even if it is one of the "evil" franchises like Boston or NY. Also, I really wish Milwaukee had a ticket purchase web site like AZ does where you can actually pick your section and seat location. Do most teams have this? That's sweet.
  24. I wonder if this is what is taking them so long to announce the times. Seems like MLB was counting on a Mountain or Pacific time zone game to slot that 9:30 game and now they don't have one and are hesitant to start a game at 9:30 local time. Perhaps they are discussing changing the schedule a little. I think they could cut the gap between the 2:30 and 6 game by at least a half hour and/or start the 11am game 30 minutes or an hour earlier.
  25. All the teams are set...why is it so hard to post a schedule? This wasn't all thought out ahead of time? I kind of expected that very shortly after the last slot was filled last night that mlb would post all the times on it's site. What are they waiting for?
