  1. Planet green keeps running an ad that states "Storm Chasers - All new episode next Saturday at 8pm". They had the same ad running last weekend. Yet, from what I could there was no new episode last night (Just 5 rerun episodes). I look ahead a week on the guide...same thing next week. Why does the ad state "All new episode"?!
  2. I don't use Firefox. I know, GASP!, how can I not be using the vastly superior Firefox?!? I have tried it and I just don't see all the fuss. I use my browser to view web pages. Both Explorer and Firefox accomplish this function for me. Are there other things a browser does that I am not aware of? I don't find one faster or less troublesome than the other. So, since I have been using Explorer for so long and I'm comfortable with it, and I don't see a difference between the two browsers, I'll just keep using it. On top of that, one of the main programs I use at work will not work in Firefox. If they come up with a browser that deposits cash into my bank account each time I use it...I might think about switching. Anyways, there's spell checkers built into browsers? Is there one built into Explorer? Where? If not, it's not enough to make me switch browsers. I find most spellcheckers to be good enough for my needs. I just find the Web Grader spell checker to be horrible. It's like they just randomly show you suggested spellings that don't correlate at all with the word you are looking for.
  3. My son is in 7th grade and they have a site that you can view to check on grades and communicate with teachers. It's called WebGrader (actually I think the formal name of the site is now Standards Score), maybe some of you use this same site with your school age kids. Anyways it's spell checker (for sending emails to teachers) is horrible. It doesn't have problems finding words that are spelled wrong, but the suggestions it gives are often way off even if just two letters are transposed or an extra letter is added accidentally. For example, this morning I wrote a WebNote to one of my son's teachers and I misspelled the work English as "Enlglish". The list of words it suggested were enolic, unlike, anlages, enology, unalign, unalike, unlocks, anglican, analogist, enologies, oenologist. It also has a hard time with the word "assignment". For example if I spell it as "assingment" it give me these words for suggestions: acing, using, easing, easying, issuing, assaying, isinglass. Huh?? Who programed this?? What's funny is when I run a spell check on this site, many the words (8 of the 11 for "Enlglish") that are listed as "suggestions" come up as being misspelled (or nonexistent)!
  4. About 20 years ago (something like that?), Channel 4 Weather did a promotion where they hid an "Ice Crystal" somewhere in Milwaukee. Every night before the weather they would give a cryptic clue (like in the form of a riddle or limerick) on where it was. I forget what the prize was (I think it was a cash prize?), but my brother-in-law and I tried hunting for it. It ended up being hidden in Hanson Park on a small bridge on the golf course (this was during the middle of Winter). We were in the right vicinity, but were not the lucky winners and I forget how many clues they gave before someone finally found it - I think it was a couple of weeks worth of clues. I do remember seeing a few other people out with flash lights in Hanson park area towards the end (after 10pm on a weeknight), but there were not throngs of people looking for it. Obviously this was just one item that people were looking for (not 1,400 or whatever the number was for the Bernie statues) and it was very well hidden. This was also long before Twitter, Facebook. You had to watch the 10pm news to get the clues (my brother-in-law would call me right after the clue was given and we would hop in the car and go). My suggestion would be to limit the prizes, make them "certificates" (as someone suggested), and hide them well ahead of time (or don't make it so obvious as to when they will be placed). Also, just give once a day subtle hints on twitter (or where ever) as to where they are hidden. Make people have to think or work a little in order to get the "prize".
  5. I purchased my first smart phone a few days ago, the new Nexus 4G phone. It will take me a while to get use to but I like it except for one major issue. The battery life. It's ridiculous. Yesterday I hardly did anything on it except make and receive a few phone calls and half the battery life drained from it. Overnight while it was just sitting there another 25% drained from it. When I charge it, it charges ridiculously slow. It took me 45 minutes to get to work this morning, I had the phone plugged in the entire ride and it only added about 12% charge time. When I got to work I checked out what was using up the battery. The number one culprit was the Android system at 30% (not sure what I can do about that..can't really turn that off..right?) and number two was Maps at 24%. The only time I used maps was a few times driving as I was testing out the navigation system. I then checked out my running apps and Maps was still running. I turned it off. Here is my question. After I ran the GPS navigator and got to my destination, the phone kept telling me something like "GPS signal lost"..this was 5 or 10 minutes after I was done with it. I closed the application and I thought I shut it off, but it kept wanting to talk to me. How do I turn it off?? I still can't believe that this is my entire battery issue, but we will see.
  6. Endless, thanks for finding and revising this thread!! Event though I started it, I completely forgot about it and must have missed this movie when it came out in theaters (was it even out in wide release?). I'll have to rent it. By the way. I'm guessing you meant "bonding" of the two brothers, not "boning". Otherwise, I'm not sure how much of a family film it could be http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif edit: Also, looks like Michael O'Keefe only had a fairly small role (Dr. Stuart)
  7. I'm not sure why I even open this thread. It depresses me a little. Remember when comedy use to be Three's company, Happy Days, Full House, etc?? Today's TV comedy's, even the bad ones, are soooo much better. I think we are going to come to a point where people are so jaded, cynical, and hyper critical that nothing will be funny and comedy will completely disappear. I still think "The Office" if very funny. I just try to sit, relax, and enjoy without being overly analytical about it. It's a sit-com.
  8. Yeah, me too. I thought to myself..."Did I just see what I thought I saw??" We sit right in front of the press box. I had to look back at the replay, because it just seemed impossible.
  9. My biggest concern is Gomez and Kotsay continuing to get playing time over Morgan and Hart and Gomez staying in the 2 hole. There have been somewhat plausible explanations to this point but at some point this has to change. First it was Hart will play and hit #2 as soon as he is back. Now it's well Hart isn't quite ready to play every day and not ready to face MLB pitching yet. When does it end and the right decisions get made? Morgan has been injured, so not much they can do about that. As far as Hart - because of rain outs, I'm not sure he got the ABs that they wanted him to get in the minors, also he didn't really get a whole lot of ST time in. Not saying that I completely agree with it, but that's my understanding as to why they think he needs to see some more AB's before moving him the the 2 spot in the lineup. I'm confident that he will be there before too long.
  10. Considering the hot starts by Braun and Fielder, Marcum quietly going about his business, and the surprising starts from Wolf and Estrada, I guess it is a bit frustrating that the Brewers do not have more wins at this point. However, I'm still optimistic. With both Hart and Grienke out, my thought was that if they can stay within a few games of first they should be ok. To me, adding Hart and Greinke to the roster now is like making a big trade that improves your team without having to give up anything. My biggest concern at this point is Gallardo. Hopefully, he'll figure it out and turn it around soon.
  11. This is something that annoys me as well. I think this is more of an MLB issues, than a Brewers issue (I beleive all MLB team sites sell tickets the same way...correct?). Perhaps if enough people send emails commenting about this (and the one row vs. several rows thing), they will make some changes.
  12. Robin19 wrote: I called them, and they said I had to set up an appointment. For what? The apartment is already wired for cable. I already have the box and service. Just turn it on and we're set. No, they wanted to set up an appointment for Tuesday afternoon between 4pm and 6pm. Well, I'm going to the game at 5pm, so I declined. They then offered a Thursday appointment. I still didn't understand why I would need to wait so long.? ?? This reminded me of this from my favorite comedian, Brian Regan:
  13. Yeah, my son and I can never understand the booing on this ether. My son always mocks the people booing.."Booo...he's doing something completly legal that is part of the game...booo"
  14. Last year Franklin stated that he was going to retire after this season and then later (I think after the season ended) he changed his mind. I wonder if he's thinking about changing it back?
  15. No one who falls off at 32 or 33 profiles that way, but pre-PED it happened all the time. Dont' want to take this thread too much off topic, but I have people say things like "Well, with all the money that is at stake, can you blame players for using PEDs?" Braun's contract got me thinking about other LT contracts. I started thinking about ARod. When did he sign that big contract with Texas and when was it reported that he first used PEDs? If the steroid era was all about making more money, why would a player continue to use PEDs after they have signed a LT contract that takes them close to the end of their career and pretty much secures them financially for the rest of there lives?
  16. Wow, I was just thinking about this the other day. I was thinking what a unbelievable deal the Brewers have right now with Braun and how you don't hear him complain too much about it. This is really cool. I grew up watching Yount, Molitor, and Gantner as the faces of the Brewers. It's nice to know my son will have at least one player that he can always associate with the Brewers as he grows up. You just don't see this type of thing happen a whole lot anymore with small market teams and All Star caliber players. I liked Braun, but I have a whole new respect for him now. Not only as a player, but as person.
  17. I guess this is why you always pay attention to the 3rd Base coach and not where you think the ball is. Although, the brief glimps of the 3rd base coach at the end of the clip almost seems to suggest he was somehow fooled as well (not sure how?). Edit: I was thinking that I would want to try this with the 7th grade team I coach. However, you really have to rely on the base runner not looking at the catcher while he is running...I think many runners, especially at the youth level, tend to take a peek
  18. I'm solidly in the every 5 days category. Your 1,2,3 pitchers are there for a reason and if you have any opportunity to pitch them more than the 4 & 5 pitchers then it should be done. I really hate this fear of "over pitching" someone. They are in the majors now. If they can't pitch 200+ innings they shouldn't be getting paid millions of $$. So, not taking salary into account, would you be willing to trade Gallardo for Wolf or for Narveson? Gallardo is better than either of those guys over the course of a full season and if you can get him more starts, take it.
  19. Meat Loaf? Really? I have caught him on "Celebrity Apprentice" a few times and I can't even imagine what he could possibly have left on stage.
  20. Yeah, in another life that would be my dream job. I envy those people. If that makes me one of the stupidest people on the planet...so be it.
  21. I'm thinking that was planned comedy "skit".
  22. Yeah today at work I tried calling 2 different 262 area code numbers and got "Due to network congestion your call can not be completed at this time". I then tried my cell phone and got through. I saw on JS online that TW was having phone issues today. So then I tried calling my house (we have TW phone service) from my work LAN line and got the same message (call can not be completed). I tried it from my cell phone and got through. Does it make any sense that you can call a TW phone from your cell phone but not a LAN line??
  23. Ok, Saturday was the opposite of Tuesday as far as leaving the "Fingers" parking lot to the south. This time they would not let you go towards the Genereal Mitchell Blvd exit, you had to go towards the Miller Parkway exit (which is where I wanted to go anyways). From there jumped on Miller Parkway, took that to West Bound 94 and made it home in good time. Someone running the show finally got smart. As far as Tuesday night when we had to go towards the Mitchell Blvd exit (with the ramp to WB 94 closed), we went EB 94, took 41 north, got off on WI, got back on 41 south and then to 94 west. Sounds like a lot, but it actually worked out fairly well.
  24. You are a lot more patient that me. I want to get on the freeway and go. There have been times (before the construction) that I have been in my driveway in Waukesha within 20-25 minutes after the game has ended. I don't want to have to go all the way out to Bluemound and then back to the freeway.
