  1. The Brewers should have let Narveson pitch one pitch, then bring in a reliever, then keep doing. I'm half joking. I know it would be bush league, but this situation is a bit ridiculous
  2. I know that in early August of either 86' or 87' there was a day where Milwaukee had something like 7 inches of rain. edit: Ok, a little off - 6 inches of rain in 6 hours. The only reason I remembered it is because I was working on a playground for the West Allis/West Milw Rec dept. and I remember kids doing Pete Rose slides across the grass. Here's a link (2nd bullet point under Floods): http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mkx/wiwx.php edit 2: Ok, this site shows 1987? http://www.newportriweather.com/mwd/history/aug/aug06.html
  3. Well, I guess I'm not "entertained" by that gesture. I find it childish.
  4. Just saw a comercial yesterday for Keylime Cove that compares the traffic to the Dells vs. the traffic to Key Lime Cove (located near 6 Flags). It kept flashing back and forth showing the traffic as being bumper to bumper going to the dells and free flowing to Illinois. Huh? I think they have that backwards.
  5. I really like the way Prince plays the game. He hustles all the time (i.e. the sac fly on Weds. night for the go ahead run, he didn't need to run that hard to the plate, but I really like to see that). However, I don't agree with others here. Regardless of the how the fans act, you are supposed to be a professional. There really is no need to stoop to their level. I would have hoped he would have shown a little more class. Let your bat and glove do the talking and leave it at that.
  6. My uncle named his dog "Dawg." We had a cat when I was younger that no one bothered to name and so he ended up becoming "Cat"
  7. I don't understand why people feel the need to complain about every little thing. Now shadows are apparently too big of an obstacle for professional athletes to deal with. "For he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good." In other words, it effects both teams, so what's the big deal? I couldn't have set it better myself. I'm not for curtains, sheilds, anything. These are the conditions. Live with it.
  8. Sometimes it's nice to be underated and fly under the radar. Off topic - really need another "explain your avatar thread". I need to know what the heck Heartbreak Yid's avatar is all about....slightly disturbing.
  9. 217 represent! Though we sit toward the back, and while we can hear the hum of the AC in the press area, I can't say I've ever felt cooled off by it. The other perks listed by Legacy25GT are pretty much on target. 217 in da house! Last row. Great seats and yes the A/C from the press box on the humid days is very nice, along with the multiple foul balls that we have obtained over the years.
  10. Anyone know the size and specs that Braun actually uses (length, weight, cup, etc.)? This would make an awsome Xmas gift for my son who is not only a huge Braun fan but has a facination with wooden bats.
  11. There was actually an Ed Debevic's open in Milwaukee on Jefferson street for 2 or 3 years. It closed about 7 or 8 years ago.
  12. The whole roof opened/closed debate pops up all the time. I guess I'm in the minority that believes the roof should be closed when there is any doubt. Yesterday was an iffy day. If you were downtown it was in the 50's. If you were west it was closer to 70. As pointed out on many posts here not all parts of the park are the same temperature. There can be as much as a 20 degree difference between the shaded and sunny parts of the park. The only part I don't like about domed stadiums is the artificial surface. As long as they are playing on grass, it doesn't matter to me if the roof is open or closed. I prefer that it be closed if it means I'll be more comfortable.
  13. Yeah, I'm not sure I'm getting this either. Are they saying curve balls don't actually break....it's just an optical illusion? If so, what about the center field camera that clearly shows a path of curvature. Also, wouldn't a fast ball have the same illusion? Wouldn't all pitches look like curve balls? Why are curve balls so hard to hit? Because they curve! (..oh and the fact that they are usually mixed in with 90mph fastballs, wicked sliders, and effective change ups)
  14. Thanks for the links and recommendations. Very helpful!
  15. I really wish BA would stop referring to Carlos Gonzalez as speedy. I believe he was more known for his power in the minors. He stole 6 bases in 190+ ABs. Not bad, but not the stat of someone you would continue to refer to as being speedy every time he's on base.
  16. Does any one know a way to get the best deal on Orlando area attractions (Disney World, Universal, Sea Worlds, etc)? Going there in October with the family. Thanks
  17. My guess is that Hanson will end up pitching good enough to win ROY.
  18. A. From the video I'm assuming he's a catcher. Any relation to Brian Harper? B. Can he hit a breaking pitch from a lefty?
  19. Where were you last night Jim? I definitely would have encouraged my son to put that down as an answer. Although, my son may have gotten in a little trouble for being a smart a.....ah....donkey.
  20. For the record, wasn't calling you "stupid". What you stated could very well be what they are looking for, but that's not at all how the question is worded.
  21. Well, that's more like three sets of two decimals. If that's what they are asking...it's very poorly written. Edit: Actually, I don't understand your answer. 1.9 + 9.1 = 11. 1+9 =10, but that would be really stupid if that's what they are asking for.
  22. My son's 5th grade math homework today had this problem: Write three decimals who's sum is 10 in two different ways. Huh?
  23. I thought Letterman was really, really funny in the 80's. Similar to what someone else mentioned with Conan, Letterman use to go out on the streets and do various things. He has not done that in years. I still like Letterman, but he not nearly as good as he was 15 or 20 years ago. I think Conan is very funny. I can tolerate Leno and Fallon. I don't understand the hatred for Fallon. I guess just like I don't understand the hatred for Joe Morgan. Don't want to turn this into a Joe Morgan discussion, but I figure he's a HOF 2nd baseman. He probably knows more about baseball than I do. Then again, I can't think of any sportscasters that I really dislike. I don't get Ferguson at all. I think I've seen the first 5 minutes of his show a couple of dozen times. The audience seems to find his monologue hysterically funny, but I just don't get it. Maybe it's the accent.
