  1. My son's baseball game got cancelled around 2pm yesterday because of poor field conditions which left me scrambling for tickets. Finally got some at Ticket King. Sat in the 300 level near home plate.
  2. I know it's late notice...but if anyone has a parking pass for sale for tonights game, I would be interested. Thanks
  3. What is all this weight training and carefully planned out conditioning and throwing between starts that today's pitchers go though all about? Why is 170 such a magic number? I still think today's pitchers are way too pampered.
  4. I guess I'm just a little "old school" (sorry for using that very overused phrase), but these discussions about innings limits just kills me. I understand the desire not to overwork a rookie pitcher or young pitcher with little ML experience. However, do we need to put a hard number on it? Some of you act like his arm will fall off if he goes one pitch over 170 innings. Does he have some sort of microchip in his arm that counts the number of innings he throws and after that he just shuts down? I would be willing to take the bet that if he pitches another 20 or 30 innings in the postseason (after 170 innings) it will not effect the rest of his career in the least. Cut to Warren Spahn spinning in his grave as he reads this thread.
  5. I realize that it probably will not matter this year, but it still drives me nuts that two teams from the same division can not play each other in the first round of the playoffs. Regardless of the unbalanced schedule or what division each team is in, the team with the best record should play the team with the worst record in the first round (and 2 should play 3).
  6. My son has a baseball game tomorrow night, but it looks like there is rain in the forecast. If his game gets rained out, there's a good chance I'll be heading down to MP tomorrow night with him.
  7. I know I questioned this before, but people talk about these innings as though it's some sort of MLB rule or something. It's just a guidline. I'm not saying that Yost pulls a Dusty Baker on Parra and I know I'm going to get a lot of disagreement on this, but imho when the team is in a pennant race, you have throw out that innings limit garbage to a certain extent.
  8. Not sure if this adds 2 more wins or what, that's hard to figure. I do think it helps assure (assuming Sheets stays healthy) that the Brewers avoid a meltdown like last year. It also gives the Brewers more starting pitching depth for the rest of the year. I'm still holding my breath in regards to the way Parra will perform in the 2nd half in his first full season in the bigs. The other intangable of this is that it sends a message to other players and possible free agents in the league that this is not the same financially strapped Brewers of the past. They are drawing some very good crowds and will do what it takes to get to the playoffs. Signing a LT contract with the Brewers is no something to fear. As far as this being the Brewers best team ever...uhhhh...let's wait and see how history plays out. Molitor, Yount, Fingers, Sutton - 4 Hall of Famers...along with guys like Cooper, Simmons, Caldwell....that's a pretty good team.
  9. Ok, yeah, should have done a little more research before making my post. Didn't realize that Sabathia is not even the best pitcher on their team this year. However, I still wonder what would happen in the scenario I described (AS starter traded to another team or league before the AS game).
  10. This may have already been discussed, and I'm sorry if it has (I tried skimming all the posts in this thread, but I'm sure I missed some.). However, is there any chance of Sabathia making the AL All Star team this year? I don't follow the AL close enough to be in touch with who the pitchers for the AL AS game would be. I know he leads the league in K's and I'm not sure about other Cleveland representatives or what other candidates there are for the AL as far as pitching goes. I guess what I'm trying to ask is could it be possible that they are waiting to see who is officially announced for the AL all-star game before they make a trade? Although I'm not sure what difference it would make, because I'm sure the Brewers are not going to wait (or at least I hope they won't) until after the AS game to make a trade for Sabathia. However, wouldn't it be kind of odd if he was named to the AL AS squad as an Indian and then traded to the NL? What would happen? I'm guessing that he would be pulled from the AS game and someone else would take his place. Has this ever happened before? Again, sorry if this has already been discussed.
  11. "This Week in Baseball" use to be a weekly religious experience when I was growing up in the 70's and early 80's. Now, with the saturation of baseball and sports on TV, it doesn't have nearly the draw that it use to have. However, I still happen to catch it once in a while. Does anyone know what the "E/I" in the upper right hand corner during TWIB is all about (actually, It's not even in the corner, it's about a third of the way towards the center of the screen)? Does it really need to be there the entire show, especially if most people watching (such as myself) do not even know what it means??
  12. About 10 years ago, my wife and I lived in West Allis. Late in the golf season, I use to jump on Greenfield Golf course around dusk and play a few holes on weeknights when the course was mainly empty. One time I was finishing up and it was getting pretty dark (could hardly see the ball). I was in the parking lot, putting my clubs away. Two teenage "thug-looking" kids approached me acting suspicious. One was looking nervously around the parking lot while the other asked me if they could "help" me at all. I angrily replied no as I slammed my trunk and anticipated some sort of threat or assault. There was one other car in the far corner of the lot with a golfer who was just about to pull out. Not sure if that was enough to "scare" them off, but I also don't think they really thought through their plan enough as I quickly got in the car before they could build up enough courage to carry out what ever it was that they were thinking of doing. I never told my wife about this, as she would probably never let me go golfing by myself as the course was closing again.
  13. Really...only 90 days? I temporarily lost my SS Card 6 or 7 years ago (ended up being returned the next day), but I could have sworn it was 1 year at the time.
  14. Did you contact the three credit bureaus? (Can't remember their names - I'm sure someone will). Generally, you can set something up with them so that if anyone tries to open up any line of credit in your name over the next 12 months, you have to be notified and have to approve it first. You can continue to "re-initiate" this feature every 12 months by calling the credit bureaus (actually, you may only have to call one). Edit: Bureaus- Equifax 888-766-0008, TransUnion 1-800-680-7289, and Experian1 888 397 3742
  15. I finished all the levels during the Brewer Game last night. I'm not much of a gamer either...but that was addicting. I did have to turn to UTube to get help on level 12. After that, I started to get the basic "gist" of the other levels - although it took me several moves on most of them.
  16. ARod must like older women. As I mentioned in another thread, I saw him with Jane Seymore on Jefferson St during lunch hour the last time the Yankees were in town.

  18. The real question is who will replace RXT#7 in 2136?
  19. Are you referring to basketball teams. It appears to me that most baseball teams stay at the Pfister. Whenever there has been a baseball team with a big star or stars (The Yankees a couple of years ago, Barry Bonds, etc), I see autograph seekers gathering outside of the Pfister. I told this story on here before, but when the Yankees were in town I saw Arod and Jane Seymore walking to lunch together on Jefferson. I know...that seems to be an odd couple. Seymore was in town promoting some mattress company or something. I'm pretty sure it was just a plutonic friendship thing, although I'm not sure how they know each other. Seymore seemed to be indecisive on where to eat and Arod seemed to be getting a little impatient with her because he people were starting to take notice of them. When I walked past them Arod was saying something like "OK Jane, well, where do you want to eat?". I also saw just about the whole Diamondbacks lineup eating in the Grand Avenue. This was when Sexson was with AZ. This really struck me as being kind of odd. Anyone who's been to the food court at the Grand Ave can understand that...not really the place where you would expect professional athletes with substantial per diems to be eating.
  20. Tell me about it! How many times did the Brewers have a better record than the best team in the West? It was probably only once or twice...but it seemed like it happened every year. I hated 1987. I hated the Twins. I think there were 3 or 4 teams in the East that had a better record than them..and they go on the win the WS!?! Uuuughhh, and everyone I knew was rooting for them because they were the underdog and from the Midwest. Not me, I didn't even think they deserved to be in the playoffs. Ok..checked it out....The Brewers had a better record than the top team in the west in 78,79,87 (not including years the Brewers made the playoffs).
  21. Agreed, and also to reiterate what SoCal stated, it was really Boston, NY, and Balt that were the the "hated" rivals when I was a kid. I still remember sitting in the bleachers at County Stadium and booing Reggie Jackson. My friends and I all liked the Cubs. We could watch them every day on WGN when cable first came out and before Wrigley added lights. My dad was a teacher and a life long Cubs fan and the Cubs home games were always on in our house during the summer afternoons. So, unlike 99.9% of the posters on this site, I could never really "hate" the Cubs based soley on the last 10 years. In fact I have rooted for them in the playoffs...I know..*Gasp!- Blasphemy!!* Now, my 10 year old son.....he hates the Cubs with the passion of 1,000 burning...however that saying goes.
  22. I found that sheets can be really appreciative towards fans. Two or three years ago at spring training, my son (who was 7 or 8 at the time) was wearing a Sheets t-shirt. We just walked in the park and were looking around from above the Brewers dugout. Sheet was standing on the field by the foul line. He turned around and saw my son. He smiled, gave a thumbs up and waved at my son, almost like he knew him. It was really cool and something my son will never forget. Also, there is a guy with some form of mental disablilities, who is a big Brewer's fan, that sits near the Brewer dugouts for many of the games at Spring Training. All the Brewers seem to know him, however Sheets is probably his biggest "buddy". They banter back and forth and Sheets is always gives him a some good natured ribbing.
  23. Amen. And I think those of you with kids will appreciate this, but is it even safe to take children to a ball game any more? Just reaffirms why I sit in the family section.
  24. Oh...now I feel really stupid. Asked my wife about this. I was pronouncing it wrong. I guess I never saw the word in writing (I was reading it like nuck..you know rhymes with..well...you know). I've heard of a nuk before. Had no idea it was a brand name.
  25. Nuk? Is that a common term? Sounds like I'm the only person that never heard of it. I guess I always just called it a pacifier.
