  1. Mt. Dew and Chinese Food....pure heaven
  2. Yes, that is John McGivern in the Cedar Crest Ice Cream radio spots. I work in the high rise attached to The Rep, so I see those posters all the time. He used to be on WKLH's morning show all the time, not sure if he is anymore (have not listed to KLH in years). I think this is the second year that he has had is "Midsummer Night McGivern" show at the Rep. Seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm not really sure who is going to see those shows or how he became such a local celebrity.
  3. I do. I guess that make me an "ungreen - friendly" dinosaur
  4. Really? Where do you live and where do you park? We are usually home by 10:30 or earlier (depending on the length of the game), and we live in Waukesha. We sit right in front of the Press Box. Our MO is to get up in the last half inning and stand behind our seats (we are in the last row). Then, as soon as the last out is made, we book it to the car (preferred parking, west of the stadium) and we are usually to our car before most of the other leaving fans. From there it takes us about 3 minutes (maybe less) to get on I-94.
  5. Just listening to the game at work...listening to Uecker talk about Jim Backus and I had to chime in. He didn't do any of the voices Ueck mentioned. He was the voice of Mr. Magoo. He was also great in "A Christmas Story"
  6. Ahhh...ok. I guess that makes some sense.
  7. I just noticed that all the weekday day games after the end of May start at 1pm, instead of 12pm. Why did they start earlier in April and May? I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with school being in session (although I don't see the connection), but the day games still start at 1pm in September, so that doesn't seem to be the case. I work downtown and live in Waukesha. I liked the noon start because the games would usually end 2 hours before I left work. Although, I guess I really have not noticed a big difference in traffic on game days whether it's a noon start or 1pm start. My preference would be for weekday games to start at 3pm, but I know that will never happen.
  8. I was just about to respond to the Chipper jones video post in the ML forum. Why was it locked?
  9. I know why. Because it's mind-boggling.
  10. That's exactly how I buy cars. I look at Consumer Reports. Most of the top cars on consumer reports are foreign cars. I never ask a friend or coworker or listen to someone say "Oh, I have a Chevy Impala and I love it" or "I have a Toyta Camry and it's been nothing but trouble". Anyone can have a bad or good experience with a car. That does not mean that most of the cars of that model or type will be the same. CR does pretty thorough testing and gets feedback from it's population of subscribers. Why would you find it silly to use a resource like that when shopping for big ticket items? You'd rather just go by looks and how it feels during a 15 minute test drive?
  11. Nottso, obviously you have strong feeling about this and I have a feeling the moderators are starting to get a little nervous about where this thread is going, but isn't everything you described pretty much the definition of capitalism? Here is a link to consumer reports top cars in each category. Every car on the top of the lists (except pick ups) are foriegn cars: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/new-cars/news/2007/04/top-picks-for-2007-4-07/overview/0704_top-picks-2007.htm
  12. Uuugghh, don't even get me started on that. I help coach my son's team (10 year olds). The head coach's son rarely has his shirt entirely tucked in (I'm talking during the game). He's basically the only one on the team that does this and it drives me nuts. I've given up trying to get him to tuck it in, since his dad could seem to care less.
  13. Sorry, just turned the game on. What's the deal with Fielder and the ear plugs? Why is he wearing them? Has he been wearing them and I just have not noticed?
  14. I was quickly going to say Danny Ainge, but I don't think he ever played for the Red Sox
  15. I like him...44...damn I am getting predictable I like him too...I'm 42. Then again, I'm not as nearly as opinionated about sportscasters and announcers as others seem to be. I don't get why people get so annoyed by some of these guys.
  16. I'm not saying the gutter. You didn't read my post correctly. See this picture. That's not a gutter. I think it's reasonable to expect the bikes to be somewhere between the white line and the gravel. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/e72250e945747fa39cd1f6a25b683c69c92dd85.pjpg If the actual law is that bikes are supposed to ride on the line or to the left of the line, that's insane. Looks like I'm going to be in the very small minority once again. I don't think hwy roads were originally designed for bikes taking Sunday rides. They were designed for cars to get from point A to point B. Baldkin's point about getting side swiped on the "bike lane" (it's really not much of a lane at all) is one reason you would never see me biking out on a country highway. I think it's a huge leap of faith to trust that every driver is going to give you the room you need.
  17. I use to ride my bike everywhere as a kid. Now I only ride a bike casually for exersice with my son around our neihborhood or close by bike paths. Here is something that I don't understand regarding bikers on country roads. There is generally about 3 or 4 feet of pavement between the gravel on the side of the road and the line that marks the edge of the road. Why do bikers always seem to want to ride right on the line? I asked a friend who does a lot of biking about this once. He claimed it's because there tends to be more stones and pebbles closer to the gravel. Ok, MAYBE this makes sense if you are riding with someone else and do not want to have your back tire spit a stone into them. Even so, The risk of being side swiped by a passing car vs. being hit by a stone?
  18. Someone mentioned in another thread about blackjack and being misdealt and how it messed up the hand and the shoe. I don't get to play blackjack as much as I would like, but it always kills me when I'm in a casino and 3rd base at the BJ table takes a hit when he shouldn't or vice-versa and people get upset. A few things about this.. -My guess is that a "novice" 3b BJ player who makes plays "against the book" helps the table as much as he/she hurts it. There is always this assumption that the next card is a bust card. Well, if that's true then shouldn't the card after the card that the 3B erroneously hit on also be a bust card? Why do you assume that the sequence of the next two cards is "bust" then "nonbust" instead of vice-versa? -In the example given in the other thread, the dealer misdealt and then realized it and burned the card which was a 7. The next player in line had a 14 and the 7 would have given him/her a 21. Well, what if the burned card was a Queen and the new card was a 7. The odds of that happening are pretty much the same. - Why is 3b held under such scrutiny? If anyone at the table plays against "the book" (not just 3B), doesn't that allegdly mess up the shoe? I guess I just don't buy into the assumption that a "misplay" always messes up the shoe and causes everyone to start losing. Misplays help as often as they hurt. I have seen people get totally disgusted at the 3B at a BJ table because he/she takes a bust card. Then the next time 3B takes a ill advised hit, he/she gets a low card and the card after that ends up busting the dealer. I have to do everything in my power not to say to the previously disgusted player "Well, aren't you going to thank him now for making the dealer bust?" It works both ways. The cards are in random order. A "novice" player has no effect on everyone elses winning or losing in the long run.
  19. I watch Idol from time to time during the city tryouts part. I start losing interest when it gets down to the final 10 or whatever it is. Baseball season starts, weather gets warmer, and I don't find the voting part of Idol that interesting. Can anyone please explain to me the hair style of the winner. Mohawks, dying your hair green, all that kind of stuff I can somewhat understand. But I don't get the half hair plastered to the side of the face and the other half sticking up. It reminds me of the kid back in school who looked like he had not showered for weeks. Why would anyone purposly want that look?
  20. I entered to win a car at Brookfield Square. Same deal (same company I believe). They call and claim you won a vacation - but the catch is the time share hard sell. So, when I saw these same people at Miller Park, I said no thanks.
  21. Everyone should know that Tom Hardricourt never chases rumors. I posted about my emails back in forth with TH in the "Brewers moving ST to FL?" thread. If you didn't read that thread....he replied to my first email stating that there was no way the Brewers were moving the ST operations to FL. I wrote back stating that I was somewhat irritated that the JS would not at least ask the Brewers about something that is being reported by other sources (not blogs) such as ballparkdigest.com. His response was this? O'rly Tom?? You don't focus on rumors? Hmmmmm....
  22. My opinion of him before the season started was that he was a 35 year old on the downside of his career and that his lack of offensive production will cancel any defensive help he brings to the team. I'm going to stick by that.
  23. Well, I think that's a little extreme. How could the story/rumor be proven untrue anyways? Even if the Brewers never do move to Florida, that's not proof that they never looked.
  24. We've been season ticket holders since 93' if that answers your question. The only reason I would not renew is because my son is getting older and getting involved in so many different activites. We don't have as much free time as we use to.
