I still have that bat (see picture below)! For some reason I always thought I got it at the game where Ricky Henderson broke the single season SB record, but guess I was wrong. Growing up in West Allis, went to many games with my friends during those years. We would hop on the county bus that would drop us off by the VA. Turned 16 in 1982 and was also fortunate enough to go to all the play-off games including the WS. Such great times!

He was always one of my favorites in my early years of following the Brewers. I was not aware of his struggles after his career (and apparently during his career). Happy to hear he found his way out of it. The video suggests that he wrote a book. I Googled, but could not find anything. Anyone have any additional information on that?

Yes, yes you will. Total trash show. Sure, I'll agree, pretty simple humor and plots and didn't really age well. Not up there with other award winning and ground breaking shows of the era like All in the Family or MASH. However, I completely get the warm, nostalgic, happy feeling of watching some of those old shows. Was flipping around channels the other day and stopped on an old Starsky and Hutch episode. One of my favorite shows growing up. Had a poster on my wall with the car. The over the top close ups and drama are humorous now, but it still brought back some memories. I will also agree that there are some great things to watch now and so much selection. Also, being able to watch whenever or binge watch several episodes is convenient. However, I do miss many things about the Network TV era. What I miss most were the shows that everyone watched at the same time. The "water cooler" talk the next day. I still have pretty clear memories about the day after the original airing of Seinfeld's "The Contest". I remember talking about it with people I work closely with as well as overhearing other people talking about it on the elevator and in the cafeteria. My work is having a virtual "happy hour" later this afternoon. Most likely there will be conversations regarding shows that people are binge watching. But for most of the shows it will be 2-4 people (out of 8), that have watched it, are currently watching it, or plan on watching it. But none watching the same episodes at the same time. No "did you see 'name of show' last night?!" Those days are over. Outside of reality shows, I feel like maybe "The Office" was the last show like that? Maybe "Lost" (never watched) ?

Oddly enough, I always think of 'Hannah and Her Sisters' when I think of Max Van Sydow.

Not really being that familiar with Chris Stapleton, I decided to listen to some of his stuff on You Tube after all the raving about him here. Listened to parts of 4 or 5 tracks and yes, that's not the type of country music I was referring to or that I tend to hear in bars from time to time (that I don't like). That music seems a lot more bluesy and closer to country rock from the 70's or 80's, like the Allman Brothers or Lynard Skynard (although, was never a huge fan of Lynard Skynard). Some of it even sounded like it could have come from Springsteen. The video for "Fire Away" is really well done and captivating.

Thank you for being 55 and not liking country. Seems like 90% of the people I know that are around my age (I'm 53) like country. I don't get it. You grew up in an age where we listened to The Clash, REM, Bowie, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Queen, Beastie Boys, etc...all this rebellious stuff, and you now like Country? Huh? I realize most people mature and mellow and become less rebellious as they age (I sure have) and with that your taste in music may change. I don't listen to that music I listed as much as I use to, but Country just seems so uninteresting and unoriginal to me compared to what I grew up with. Same formula - Pickup trucks, blue jeans, beer, the American Flag, your small hometown...put it in a blender and have a male with a deep voice or a female with a twangy voice sing it. Sorry to the country music fans out there. Yes, I know, I'm oversimplifying it...but still, just not my thing and I just have a hard time understanding how that is now the music of choice for many people my age.

Not sure if this counts as "New Music", but enjoyed the 2 singles released by the Raconteurs this year and looking forward to hearing the full album that is supposed to be released in June. I'm a big Jack White fan. Although I was not thrilled with his last solo effort.

The sheer stupidity (& selfishness) of the parents literally boggled my mind numerous times & just when you think they couldn't possibly be any dumber they go & do something even more idiotic. The way they continued to communicate with him right up to almost the very end. The cheerfulness they still had in their voice after several years when they answered phone calls from him, "Hi B!", just odd. However, I do believe it was an era where basically people were more trusting of others in general. There was very much of a "Well, he/she would never do something like that" towards anyone who seemed "normal" or "nice". Even the FBI guy, how he talked about the fact that they didn't even know what the word "pedophile" meant. It wasn't a term they used. Parents kept less tabs on their kids than they do now and were a lot less fearful that someone would do something bad to them. They just thought if they lived in a "nice" neighborhood and their kids were somewhere in the neighborhood, everything was good. All the neighbors seem to be nice people. Scam artists tend to target older generations. Yes, some of that is due to just taking advantage of old age and the deterioration of the mind, but I believe some of that is the current population of the older generation. They didn't grow up as "on guard" and as cynical as the generations that came after them. They have a harder time believing that there are people in the world that can be so devious and untrustworthy.

When I was in high school in the late 70's early 80's my dad and I would watch reruns of M*A*S*H every night at 10:30 after the news (I think they were showing reruns while the show was still creating new episodes in prime time) . I did enjoy the show a lot, but I thought it really lost a lot of comedy after Larry Linville (Frank) left, and the last 2 or 3 years of the show were pretty much unwatchable to me. After a while I believe they switched from M*A*S*H reruns to Cheers reruns at 10:30 (I think it was Channel 6 in Milwaukee that showed those reruns).

Always thought Taxi was one of the most underrated shows in Television history. The cast alone: Danny Devito - Still hitting it out of the park as Frank in "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia" Andy Kaufman - Immortal Chistopher Lloyd - How can you not like Doc from "Back to the Future"? Not to mention Doc becoming the inspiration for Rick of "Rick and Morty". Marilu Henner - One of the stars of the always underrated movie "Johnny Dangerously" and don't forget her uncanny ability to remember details from just about every day in her life. Tony Danza - Of course, best known for being the subject of the Elton John hit song "(Hold me closer) Tony Danza" Judd Hirsch - Just as easy to play Seven Degrees of Judd Hirsch as it is to play Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon Jeff Conaway - Kenickie from Grease Right up there with the cast from "Freaks and Geeks". How are there not more reruns of Taxi on TV (I'm not sure if there are any at all)?

I like the format. Switching back and forth between the actors in a docudrama format and the actual people in more of a true documentary format is interesting to me and I think it gives more credibility to the actors depiction of real events. I also enjoy the quirkiness of occasionally breaking down the 4th wall and some of the "one-off skits" like the rappers explaining things during the Netscape-Microsoft meeting. It's different and interesting to me.

I believe 'Valley of the Boom' officially debuts this Sunday on the History Channel, but the 1st two episodes are currently available on demand on Spectrum (and also probably on any History channel access if you don't have cable). Watched both of them, really enjoying it so far.
