  1. When I read this I thought why not just go on the Brewer web site and see what the packages and prices are? Then I went on the site and saw that this information is no where to be found!? I see info for 4 packs, but no pricing or other information for full or partial season ticket packages. I know in past years this information was always on the site because I use to print out my 20 game package schedule from the promotional information on the Brewers site. I have a 20 game lodge level package, so I'm not sure about club level pricing. I guess you will need to call the Brewers to get this information.
  2. We use Norton Anti-Virus software at home but after reading online reviews and comparing costs it appears that we could get the same or better anti-virus protection for less (or free?). I was wondering what other people on brewerfan use and looking for any advice on a good anti-virus software program. One thing I would like (in a program that I pay for) is the ability to install it on multiple laptops or devices (at least 3 different devices). If I have Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop, is it necessary to have another anti-virus program installed?
  3. Same thing on Consumer Reports. In the 46-52 inch range, Samsung holds 9 of the top 10 spots. Panasonic Viera is ranked 5th and shown as a best buy based on it's lower cost vs. Samsung. In the 40-43 inch range Samsung holds 3 of the top 4 spots with LG being 3rd.
  4. This bothers me a lot. I will always hover at a table before I sit down to see the knowledge level of the players- especially 3rd base. I refuse to sit at a table when the person at 3B has no idea what they're doing. Nothing worse than "that guy" busting instead of the dealer. That thought doesn't really bother me at all. The cards are random (especially in a 6 or 8 deck shoe). A person that doesn't know when to hit and not hit is not hurting the table any more than he's helping it (half the time when people take/don't take hits when they shouldn't/should it ends up helping the table...but no one ever notices that). Also, doesn't really matter where they are sitting at the table, it's the same result. My issue is that I just can't believe someone would put money down on a game that they don't know how to play. Even if you know how to play, the odds are against you, not knowing how to play just makes it worse.
  5. Just curious, why not? Residue on the bulb will super heat and implode it. You know..kinda like in that 80's film "Real Genius" with Val Kilmer
  6. I have a Samsung Galaxy 4 phone and I use the Gmail app. I noticed lately that the look/feel of gmail on the android phone has changed. At the same time it appears that I have stopped getting new email notification on the top of my screen. I have checked the settings and every thing seems to be set to get notifications, but I'm not getting them. I have it set to give me a visual (no sound) notification (a little mail icon that appears on top of the phone when I receive a new email). Anyone else having this issue or any help advise anyone can provide? edit: Nevermind...seems I am getting notifications now.
  7. Either the Cards will platoon him and he absolutely will have better numbers or they'll do as the Braves did and value his defense enough to play him every day. If you play fantasy, just play him against RH starters. I've been keeper league for many years (since 84'), and had Heyward since he was in the minors before I traded him towards the end of this last season (I only had control of him for one more year). Unfortunately, it's a rotisserie style league (not team vs. team), so I didn't have the option to only start him vs. right handers (as all players on your roster count every day in rotisserie style). The Cards will play him every day and he will hit .300+ from both sides of the plate and have a 40/40 season...because....it's the Cards.
  8. If you are in a fantasy baseball league, you would be wise to draft Heyward next year as he is now almost guaranteed to have a break out year.
  9. My guess is that there will be a big buzz that it will be either the Rolling Stones or Springsteen and it will end up just being Elton John and Kid Rock.
  10. You mean not this guy? http://www.brewerfan.net/images/articlepix/unknown.jpg
  11. It's not that I factor the BJ payouts into any "strategy"...I just prefer to get paid more on a BJ win. The funny thing is that at least 2 of the casinos I was at including NY,NY offered even money if you had BJ and the dealer had an ace. This seemed like a no brainer to take to me, especially on a $5 or $10 bet. Yet, there were some not taking it (actually it was probably that they just didn't understand that they could take that and only risk losing out on and extra dollar or two). I sat at a table at Mandalay Bay and they did not offer even money in that situation (the dealer pointed at the 6:5 odds). I stated that NY,NY offers it (both casinos are owned by MGM) and they (the floor manager was standing by the table also) insisted that the dealer at NY, NY must have made a mistake. Got a different dealer/table at NY, NY the next day and again got even money on my BJ (with dealer showing an Ace). When I told them about the Mandalay Bay thing, they seemed confused as to why they would have told me that.
  12. I feel the same thing about bobbleheads always being on Sundays. Sundays usually draw pretty good crowds anyways. Never understand why they don't do more handouts (or any handouts?) on weekdays.
  13. The decreasing odds for blackjack payouts in Vegas. Finding a $5 or $10 table that pays 3:2 on blackjack is nearly impossible now (most tables now pay 6:5). Also, the increasing appearance of the continuous shuffle machines at some of the lower limit tables. I'm not talking about the ones that shuffle the next shoe, I'm talking about the ones that continuously shuffle the current shoe that is being played. I can't believe that these are acceptable to the Nevada Gaming Commission. Also, this doesn't really bug me as much as just makes me shake my head....the number of people who sit down at a black jack table and not only do not have any clue as to what they are doing, but don't have any plan at all as to when they will walk away from the table (i.e. a win and loss threshold).
  14. Didn't have any big problems renewing. I use my online account a lot (usually need to sell 4 or 5 tickets every year on stubhub - which is done through the online account). This is also the way I have paid for my tickets in past years. Also, we don't have a game choice plan, so no issues there. I guess the only issue I had was that I didn't see anywhere to indicate what "bonuses" you were choosing for early payment (decided to take that option this year). So, I just emailed our representative with our choices.
  15. I'm the administrator of our company's 401(k) plan. It's very common for companies to have vesting schedules on their 401(k) plans. Our plan vests 25% each year (fully vested after 4 years). Obviously, this only applies to employer contributions. While vesting is put in place to encourage employees to stay with a company, I'm not sure if the reason for leaving really matters in regards to vesting.
  16. Have her start taking Zicam right away. I know that helps me get over colds a lot quicker. I've also been using a NeilMed sinus rinse every day for about the past month, and I find that it helps a lot with clearing up my sinuses. If she is all stuffed up, something like that can help. It's the thing where you mix a saline packet with water inside a bottle and then squirt it up your nose. Yeah, not the most pleasant thing, but I find it helps a lot. They're available at most pharmacies. We are both huge on the Zicam thing. Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does seem to have some affect on at least minimizing the symptoms. I actually started taking them a few days ago without symptoms, just to try to "ward off" any possible oncoming cold as we approached our vacation. My wife wasn't as diligent. She took the last one she had in her desk at work this morning when she started feeling a cold coming on. She went home and took another one (but it had expired in June - I'm not sure how Zicam "expires").
  17. Leaving for Vegas on Thursday. My wife and I have really been looking forward to this. Now...she's coming down with a cold, and my wife tends to get really bad colds that completely knock her on her butt for 7-10 days. If anyone has any uncommon advice (other than the usual fluids, rest, etc) that they can share, I think she's willing to give anything a try at this point.
  18. I have the Kuerig Mini where you have to fill it with water each time you make coffee (no water reservoir). So, I avoid the overflow issue by just filling the cup I'm going to drink out of with water and filling the machine with that (It doesn't give you cup size options...just no more than 10ozs.). Thanks for the Sams Club/Costco advise. I'm sure it's a great deal. I can't tell you how many times someone has told my wife or I that they have great deals on one thing or another at Sam's Club. We went there one time when they had a "open house" (that statement alone is one reason why I won't shop at Sam's club..."open house"? It's a grocery store!!) and decided that we have no place to put 28 rolls of toilet paper and we don't have a freezer to store a dozen chicken breasts (we have 3 people in our family). On top of that, its about 5 times farther away from our house than the Sentry we shop at. I'm all about convenience. I hate shopping and Sams Club just seemed like a nightmarish zoo to me.
  19. Just catching up on some of this. That 24' WS film was fun to watch. I think pitching instructors today would have totally tried to correct Johnson's mechanics. Especially where he just drags his push off foot and never brings it around. I wonder what the last MLB game was where fans rushed the field afterwards. That was always one of my favorite parts of watching the post season when I was a kid and I was lucky to actually take part in one of those "field rushes" at County Stadium after the 5th game of the 82' ALCS.
  20. Yeah, I thought of this, but then I was wondering if I would have to use two K-Cups for that? Seems like I would (I think the bigger models allow for bigger cups and still only use one K-Cup). So, it would be a little more expensive to do it this way. Also, that seems like a lot of work for someone who has not had their coffee yet and is just trying to get out of the house in the morning (I know - first world problems). I tend to be a bit impatient and lazy in the morning. Eventually I'll just upgrade my coffee maker to one that allows for bigger cups.
  21. Because I'm weak and I need caffeine to survive. Get off my back!!
  22. A couple of weeks ago, at the age of 48, I finally joined the coffee drinking population. Always avoided it because I never really cared for hot drinks, but I quit soda about a year and a half ago and have been searching for a good caffeine replacement ever since. I figure one cup of coffee in the morning is better than the 2-3 cans of Mt. Dew I use to down on a daily basis. Even purchased a single cup Kuerig coffee maker last weekend. Just wish I would have purchased the bigger version (with the water reservoir)...tough to find good travel mugs that fit in the one I purchased.
  23. When I got my new car, I took some cones out to an empty parking lot and practiced on my own, just to get an awareness of how far I could see (for both bumpers) and what size space I could fit into. It takes practice, like any other skill. Actually, it's a skill you are born with. It's all geometry and angles. Just ask George Costanza:
  24. I always heard stories that her and Gabe Kaplan did not exactly get along on the set of "Welcome Back Kotter"
  25. If there is any reason to wish that the Cards would have made the WS, I guess this would be it (as this sad news would have been avoided).
