  1. I don’t know…..my guess is they want to keep the option of pinch hitting/running for Sanchez without losing the DH at some point later in the game.. I’m not necessarily defending it but that is my guess……..I’m not sure he is wearing down……guys go through periods where they aren’t swinging well…..or just run into some good pitching. I think WC and the staff need to monitor how he is feeling…… it would be a good question for both Murphy and Contreras to address.
  2. Sanchez will catch tomorrow……..day game after a night game.
  3. So some good news before we go another 6/7 innings tonight without scoring
  4. Turang isn’t striking out much this year and yet Brown has completely overmatched him. just dominant stuff
  5. No he didn’t…….he decided to make him an offer he deemed appropriate……nobody would ever decide to pay a friggin manager anything he wanted. He didn’t go into it thinking…..” I can’t lose Craig Counsel and must pay him more then anyone else will even think about offering…….that’s negotiating against yourself…..which is idiotic “ The Cubs paid him wayyyy…..more than any other manager…….so if you want to view that as he misjudged the market that’s fine…….my view is when 1 team decides to go that far out of the norm they are making a desperate offer……and I wouldn’t have matched it even if given the opportunity.
  6. Just an amazing stat…….and we are 2-2 against them
  7. Brown has got good stuff…….going to be another grinder to score against him
  8. I’m not sure he misjudged it either……just because the Cubs decided to make a stupid offer doesn’t mean the Brewers should. They made a great offer……it would have made him the highest paid manager……..he wanted more…….. Brewers were never going to get in a bidding war with the Cubs……..when it comes to that…….it’s time to just part company.
  9. Not sure I read an exact figure but I did read something from a Mets site that they were definitely interested in hiring him but were never going to come close to the numbers he got…….and they kind of suggested that although Counsel took the interview they never got the feeling he wanted to move to NY.
  10. I have a hard time blaming MA for offering CC more money than anyone else was making as a manager in baseball at that time……..the Cubs decided to drastically overpay in the hopes of finding 3-5 wins at the margins and costing the Brewers the same………time will tell how it plays out for them but the Brewers( in baseball’s smallest market) made a more than fair offer. I mean even David Stearns wasn’t willing to offer close to what the Cubs did……with Cohen’s money to back him up.
  11. I’m not sure why I didn’t know this but apparently Hudson toiled in the Cubs farm system for 8 years……..before moving to the Dodgers as a minor league free agent. got to love it…….
  12. “ 0-0 late……the brewers have been beating us in those games for 6 straight years now…..I used to think the manager had a lot to do with that……it’s starting to look like that isn’t the case” enjoy…..starts at the 9 minute mark
  13. Umpire has been good….too bad he missed strike 3 there
