    I don’t know…..my guess is they want to keep the option of pinch hitting/running for Sanchez without losing the DH at some point later in the game.. I’m not necessarily defending it but that is my guess……..I’m not sure he is wearing down……guys go through periods where they aren’t swinging well…..or just run into some good pitching. I think WC and the staff need to monitor how he is feeling…… it would be a good question for both Murphy and Contreras to address.

    No he didn’t…….he decided to make him an offer he deemed appropriate……nobody would ever decide to pay a friggin manager anything he wanted. He didn’t go into it thinking…..” I can’t lose Craig Counsel and must pay him more then anyone else will even think about offering…….that’s negotiating against yourself…..which is idiotic “ The Cubs paid him wayyyy…..more than any other manager…….so if you want to view that as he misjudged the market that’s fine…….my view is when 1 team decides to go that far out of the norm they are making a desperate offer……and I wouldn’t have matched it even if given the opportunity.
