Per the Shuckers, INF Blake Allemand has been promoted to San Antonio. This will be his first taste of AAA. He's been in Biloxi since the beginning of the 2017 season, amassing 768 PAs in 221 games played. Might be safe to assume that utility man and extra catcher Skyler Ewing will be transferred back to the Rocky Mountain roster to make room for Allemand, but we'll see. To fill his spot on the Biloxi roster, RHP Tyler Spurlin has been transferred from the Rocky Mountain roster. When he takes the mound for the Shuckers, it will be his first official inning since 2016 in the AFL. Spurlin has missed time due to Tommy John surgery and then a PED suspension. Additionally, RHP Tristan Archer is back on the San Antonio roster after being transferred from Rocky Mountain. This is his third stint on the active roster for the Missions this year.

I assume he's not a hard thrower? I've seen some varying gun readings on him. He's not a soft-tosser by any stretch, he'll sit in the low 90's. I've seen him hit 94-95, though not this year yet. If you have access to MiLB.TV, go to the bottom of the 3rd. With two outs and the bases loaded, he starts Tyler Payne with a called strike on a slow curve, and then absolutely eats him alive with two straight 4-seamers. Just gross.

Dylan File is one of the Brewers' better pitching prospects. Love that guy. Everything moves, and he controls the offspeed stuff well.
  4. And That
Forever is a mighty long time.
  5. And That
RHP Bubba Derby transferred from San Antonio to Rocky Mountain to clear a roster spot for Jake Petricka.
  6. And That
Per my own tweet on the matter.
  7. And That
Rasmussen was clocked up to 98 with his fastball, 90 with his slider.

Gatewood is still rehabbing his ACL.

RHP Drew Rasmussen transferred from Wisconsin to Carolina RHP Gabe Friese to the Carolina 7-day IL. LHP Wilfred Salaman transferred from Rocky Mountain to Wisconsin RHP Tyler Gillies transferred from AZL Blue to Wisconsin.

Kimbrel's agent isn't holding Kimbrel out, Kimbrel is holding Kimbrel out. If Kimbrel wants to sign a deal presented to him, he would direct his agent to accept the deal. Or change agents.
  15. And That
    Yes it is.
  16. And That
Per Daren Willman's tweet, you can now use Baseball Savant to search for any pitch from the beginning of the 2018 season until now, and then watch it. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search It's pretty amazing. I just killed about 15 minutes of lunch break watching Donnie Hart changeups and sliders. And I'm sure you could easily find much more entertaining searches. Dive into this at your own risk.

  18. And That
Before last night's season opener, LHP Donnie Hart was added to the Missions' roster, while RHP Tristan Archer was transferred to Rocky Mountain.
  19. And That
RHP Tyler Spurlin transferred from Biloxi to Rocky Mountain. RHP Gabe Friese transferred from Carolina to AZL Gold. 1B Pat McInerney transferred from Carolina to AZL Blue. I believe all three are staying with the full season clubs. All rosters are now set at 25 for opening day.
  20. And That
IL moves: INF Brett Lawrie and C Nick Rickles to the San Antonio 7-day IL. Rickles is a coach, so this is just a procedural move. LHP Quintin Torres-Costa to the San Antonio 60-day IL. RHP Preston Gainey, 1B Jake Gatewood, and RHP Cody Ponce to the Biloxi 7-day IL.

  22. And That
There was talk about that but as far as I'm aware, it's still 7/10/60 days this year.
  23. And That
Nelson is on the 10-day IL. He'll be on a rehab assignment with the Missions. If they feel he's not ready after the rehab assignment ends, which I believe is 30 days from the beginning of the AAA season tomorrow, he can be optioned to the minors if he's healthy. Nelson accrues MLB service time while on rehab. However, he won't hit the 5-year service mark until 5/31 if he accrues service time each day until then.
  24. And That
LHP Brad Kuntz transferred from Biloxi to Rocky Mountain. I believe he'll be traveling with San Antonio though. C Nate Rodriguez transferred from Carolina to Rocky Mountain. He's the Mudcats' 3rd catcher and he'll remain with the club. C Charlie Meyer transferred from Wisconsin to AZL Blue. Not sure if he's staying with Wisconsin or not. RHP Victor Castaneda transferred from Rocky Mountain to AZL Blue. Was part of Helena's rotation in 2018.
  25. And That
They were both throwing in spring training, but both have been sent to the Rocky Mountain roster to begin the season. From what little I've heard, Rasmussen should be back on a full season active roster before Kirby. When they are ready, Rasmussen is likely headed to Wisconsin, Kirby to Biloxi.
