  1. If I see anyone with a #2 Plush jersey, my head will explode with awesomeness. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/6001544b94d7952d9549cd84e679b3d5becc7a5.jpg
  2. Dan Merklinger has cleared waivers and been re-assigned to Huntsville, per TH. Huntsville's roster stands at 24.
  3. Damon Krestalude and Tony Pechek have been transferred to Helena from Wisconsin. Most likely just a paper move - both could stay with their Timber Rattlers teammates. These moves bring the Rattlers' roster down to the Midwest League limit of 25.
  4. Didn't like it, especially with the awkward edit they did to it. Oh well. I'll get over it as soon as he finds his curveball.
  5. Haudricourt: "More Bad News on Arnett" Pertinent: Eric Arnett, the right-hander taken in the first round of the 2009 draft out of Indiana who has profiled as a major bust thus far, developed rotator cuff tendinitis during minor-league camp and will be out of action indefinitely.
  6. Haudricourt with a D'Vo update: Ash said outfielder D'Vontrey Richardson, a fifth-round pick in that same draft, is still in extended spring training recovering from a hip injury. Richardson will open the season on the DL before reporting to Class A Brevard County, according to Ash. So, no timeline, but we know what's wrong and where he's going. Wording doesn't make it sound like he'll miss too much time.
  7. Merklinger comes off the Huntsville roster as he's on outright waivers for a few days after being designated for assignment earlier today. If he clears waivers, he'll go back to Huntsville. If he's claimed, I'd look for Fiers, Byrd or Hand to move into the rotation, at least temporarily. The Brewers could also push Heckathorn.
  8. Rogers is scheduled to pitch on the 8th & 13th to open the season. Not extremely conducive to a 4/16 start. Don't know how much they want to mess with his schedule.
  9. If Estrada were optioned after the game, he wouldn't be available to be recalled until April 17th. He has to accrue at least one day on the active roster, IIRC.
  10. Are we going back to assigning players to Helena as opposed to putting them on the fake DL? Have to keep MiLB officials on their toes.
  11. Between Cena-Rock (WM28 will be in Miami, Rock's hometown), HHH-Taker 2 (which may well be another career vs. streak match vis-a-vis HBK-Taker 2), and the two major titles on the line, I think next year's Wrestlemania could be a potentially huge show. Agreed this Wrestlemania was blah. I didn't get into the HHH-Taker match because it was so obvious who the winner would be. If there had been any doubt, would have been a classic. Both men worked their butts off, hats off.
  12. Parra and Hart are both outside candidates for the 60-day DL, though I hope neither end up there. My guess is Parra to the 60-day or a Maldonado DFA. Edit: I also suppose, again an outside shot, that the Brewers could activate Lucroy and DFA Kottaras.
  13. As noted in the Major League Forum, Brandon Kintzler has been optioned to Nashville. He might be the Sounds' closer, though he also might not be in Nashville too long. His arrival changes the complexion of the Nashville pitching staff somewhat, though I'm sure the Brewers were planning on this very scenario. Assuming Estrada gets the call to Milwaukee, it all but firms up a rotation of Rivas-Rogers-de la Cruz-Butler-Narron.
  14. Tentative Brevard County Manatees roster, with a few roster moves left to go: CatcherRafael Neda Mike Roberts Shawn Zarraga Infield Mike Brownstein Chris Dennis Scooter Gennett Hunter Morris Josh Prince Shea Vucinich OutfieldKentrail Davis Khris Davis Brock Kjeldgaard Scott Krieger Starting PitchersEvan Anundsen Nick Bucci Hiram Burgos Maverick Lasker Kyle Heckathorn Adrian Rosario Relief Pitchers Santo Manzanillo Efrain Nieves Jon Pokorny R.J. Seidel Trey Watten Mark Willinsky Rob Wooten FWIW, Rosario was listed as a starter and Seidel was listed as a reliever. We might have those flip-flopped. The Florida State League roster limit is 25, so they're be at least one more move from the current 26 young men prior to tomorrow.
  15. Neda is superior on defense right now, and 2.5 years older. They have to find out if he can hit. That's why he's in Brevard. There's no age discrimination, or anything else going on here. And I say that as a longtime vocal critic of Reid Nichols. I realize it sucks he isn't being promoted, and I don't think putting Garfield and Roberts on the same team is a great idea, but he's still a major league prospect, and a better one than Neda. Garfield's maturation as a catcher is not being hindered by being in Wisconsin.
  16. I'm not too worried yet. Some tough losses that just happen to be coming all together at the beginning of the season.
  17. Thanks to the wonderful powers of the process of elimination, we know that 25 of these guys will comprise the Manatees roster unless there are last minute roster shifts elsewhere. Dudes with asterisks are the guys who are my best guesses for the roster. Catcher*Rafael Neda *Shawn Zarraga *Mike Roberts Brett Dean Gerald Ogrinc Sean McCraw Jhonathan Javier Kevin Berard Steve Felix First Base*Chris Dennis *Hunter Morris Demetrius McKelvie Hitanial Arias Second Base*Scooter Gennett *Matt Cline Shea Vucinich Third Base*Mike Brownstein Joey Paciorek Kyle Dhanani Shortstop*Josh Prince Mikey Marseco Yadiel Rivera Outfield*Khris Davis *Kentrail Davis *Brock Kjeldgaard *Scott Krieger D'Vontrey Richardson John Bivens Kenny Allison Derrick Shaw Chad Stang Max Walla Jose Garcia Starting Pitchers*Maverick Lasker *Hiram Burgos *Nick Bucci *Kyle Heckathorn *R.J. Johnson Dane Amedee Joel Pierce Relievers*Jon Pokorny *Trey Watten *Mark Willinsky *Adrian Rosario *Efrain Nieves *Rob Wooten Chad Robinson Alex Jones Morgan Brinson Jameson Dunn Santo Manzanillo Andre Lamontagne Skyler Crawford Kevin Shackelford Seth Harvey Michael White Jose Ramos
  18. Just realized this means that Matt Cline will be headed back to BC. Blargh.
  19. I called the Charly Bashara roster spot. I win. Wouldn't be shocked to see Mike Walker get some outfield work, maybe Nick Shaw too. Both those guys will need to be versatile to succeed. Last I knew Thornburg was going to be the only guy with a piggyback platoon (well, and the guy he's piggybacking with) and looks like that guy should be Krestalude. Wawrzasek may start in the bullpen and move to the rotation later on in the year. I'm sure the Brewers are hoping Nelson/Miller/Ross/Howell/Thornburg won't stick around Wisconsin all summer. Bit surprised not to see Dishon or Stang on the roster. Suppose either could end up in BC, but it looks like the OFs there are set with the Davises, Krieger and Kjeldgaard, unless someone is injured. Hope that if Richardson is injured, it isn't too bad. He can't lose any development time.
  20. Well, that's why I don't bet on something that can be predetermined. And I only said to bet on Taker... right about that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Oops, I'll get these in before the first match, in order of confidence: Taker vs. HHH: Taker. If you put money on Taker, you'll make money. Cole vs. Lawler: Lawler Morrison, Snooki, Stratus vs. Zigler and LayCool: Don't really care, which is saying something given the push Morrison has been given, but Team Snooki wins Cena vs. Miz: Miz retains WWE Championship Del Rio vs. Edge: Del Rio wins Heaveyweight Championship The Corre vs. The Not-Corre: The Corre, but I don't care. Punk vs. Orton: Orton Rhodes vs. Mysterio: Rhodes Sheamus vs. Bryan (if they have it again): Sheamus. Bryan might be turning heel shortly.
  22. Just tweeted almost the same thing on my Twitter feed. Great minds, Jim, great minds. Edit: To make this post substantive... I'll be interested to see who the Sounds go with as a closer. Justin James would seem to make the most sense, even though he isn't yet tentatively on the roster. Who wants to put odds on Patrick Arlis starting the year on the "DL"? Marco Estrada will not be on the Sounds' opening day roster unless the Brewers have a last second change of heart for their 5th starter slot. Estrada should be summoned to Milwaukee the day before the Sounds' season begins. Of course, the Sounds will get a reliever back from the Brewers in all likelihood.
