  1. I wonder when the Ryan Braun re-extension talks will start... he's such a good deal that the Brewers could offer to rework the contract to pay him better now, and extend him a few more years. He's an amazing hitter.
  2. Taylor Green plays, Taylor Green gets a double. Lee Haydel has been pretty impressive early on, too.
  3. Gomez just walked for the second game in a row... APOCALYPSE!
  4. Wolf is out of the game, and I think Inglett will stay in for Weeks.
  5. Salome is just as likely to hit .430 in AA as Lucroy was. It doesn't make a lot of sense to have either of them there.
  6. The Brewers' pythagorean record is going to be 15-0 before the end of this series.
  7. I will take full credit for anything good that George Kottaras does.
  8. I sort of like Anderson, but it drives me nuts when he says so and so "would be next" when they will be next. There is almost no reason why Weeks would not bat after Wolf.
  9. Seems like McCutchen (the pitcher) lacks an out pitch. Not that it's easy to put Braun away.
  10. You forgot: Kevin Costner - Baseball
  11. Lucroy and Salome would be top 10 prospects in any organization and Garfield is a really promising up and comer, and I think Tyler Roberts is too. So yes, the Brewers do have enviable depth at catcher. None of Kemp, Alfonso, Hopf, Maldonado, McCraw or Delarosa are or were anything much more than organizational guys. Zarraga may or may not pan out as a catcher, but he could be a good hitter. Kottaras and Zaun are generally uninspiring, but far from terrible (unless you're measuring their worth 14 games in to the season). Look, I know you're angry at the Brewers' handling of Alfonso, but that's no reason to run down the Brewers any time catching is brought up.
  12. No, it was the worst start in sports history, including Roman coliseum matches where one of the teams was a lion. I'm happy to be in second place after being so unlucky after a few weeks of games.
  13. That would make cents.
  14. In a shocking development, Taylor Green has hit a double. He's on pace to hit about 346 of them this year.
  15. Power 50 should be up by the weekend. We're working on comments presently. Escobar graduated due to ABs so there will be a new #1, though there were votes for three different #1s amongst the four voters. Exciting!
  16. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels.
  17. Nine Innings has been on my list of books to read for about a decade now. Some day... I've been in a play mood recently - Broken Glass, Dead Man's Cell Phone, Blue and some Shakespeare. I'm about to start reading Sum by David Eagleman. Pretty excited about it.

  19. FWIW, today is the day you can be called up without accruing a full year of service time this season.
  20. It will only get better for Mr. Howell. Dennis with another jack, and another walk. He'll be in Brevard after getting a few hundred ABs in Wisconsin, methinks.
  21. I would be disappointed if the Brewers let go of Kottaras over Zaun. Zaun is just a 39 year old catcher, while Kottaras still might have some future in the league. If the Brewers decide that Lucroy is ready in June or July, I'm guessing the Brewers could find a taker for Zaun, just like the Orioles did last year. In any case, I too hope the Brewers hold on to both Lucroy and Salome as long as possible - you're going to get max value out of both by doing that.
  22. Ka'aihue is slow in a Johnny Estrada sort of way and a bad defender. He'd be a good pickup for a team looking for better DH production, but he would be a liability for the Brewers.
  23. Wow, Jeff Suppan can even screw Mike McClendon.
