  1. Link to JS blog. Looks like Dave Bush has essentially been named the 4th starter, with Suppan and Parra to battle it out for the 5th slot in the rotation. Narveson will pitch in middle relief.
  2. My guess is either or both of Villanueva and Axford will be optioned, which is pretty much expected at this point. I wouldn't read too much in to it.
  3. From McCalvy's blog: "I appreciate the platform to come in and realize those things and to realize that I am a better version of myself than I have been for the last three or four years. It's just ironic that I can't get a job because my wife died. It doesn't make much sense to me." I don't know if discriminated is the right word, but it looks to me like he feels there is a stigma about the situation that is keeping him from getting a job.
  4. Schoeneweis is upset over his release. He certainly deserves the right to be pissed off about being released, but he seems to be blaming this at least in part on the stigma of his wife dying last year. I don't know about that. "I'm a big-league player," he said. "My wife died last year. That has nothing to do with me as a baseball player. To have to start over and be penalized doesn't make sense to me."
  5. He's in the Brevard box score, batting fifth.
  6. And that's why the Brewers won't risk trying to pass Narveson through waivers if he doesn't make the rotation. Barring injury, Narveson has the team made.
  7. Good. Kottaras still has upside, whereas Treanor does not. Glad they didn't go with the grizzled vet.
  8. I don't like Andy Samberg most of the time, but his Carl the Park Ranger character was hilarious. When he started talking and the birds flew away - awesome. Tom chasing the golf cart had us in hysterics for some reason too - I love how they just stayed with the shot.
  9. Suppan had a 12.0 K/9 today, clearly he has found the mustard on his fastball again. Opening day starter.
  10. Definitely. I'll have something up pretty soon.
  11. Were you cheating on the letters? Are you Corey Hart?
  12. I like Matt Cline - he's a gamer and has some decent on-base skill and middle infield versatility. Hopefully he's back on the field for good.
  13. If Bush opts to be a free agent, it isn't a certainty he'd latch on to a major league squad right away either. Heck, he may make more in arbitration than as a free agent anyway.
  14. Suppan hasn't seen the minor leagues in 12 years. I think he'd rather sit at home on the couch, play with the kids, run his restaurant and wait for another big league opportunity than stay in Holiday Inns and ride buses. Bush is more likely to accept a minor league assignment because he has more money to lose. If the Brewers can trade Suppan and eat most of his salary, that would be neat.
  15. Jeff Suppan. He can refuse a minor league assignment.
  16. Jan. 30th: Completed federal taxes. Jan. 31st: Attempted to file federal taxes online, was not able to because one of the forms "could not be submitted online" to the IRS. Feb. 1st: Mailed federal return to IRS. March 15th: 6 weeks later, still have not received refund from IRS. March 16th: Called IRS, was told I have to wait until tomorrow to check the status of return. March 17th: Called IRS, was told return will not be processed until April because I changed my filing status from single to married, and they have to create an entirely new file for me. As my daughter would say, bear shirt.
  17. It was a suicide squeeze - the batter bunted the ball to Narveson, there was a rundown between third and home that ended with Fielder tagging the guy out. Fielder then fired to second with Gomez covering and the guy who originally bunted the ball was out trying to advance to second.
  18. I'm interviewing for a new job and feel compelled to shave my beard. I've worked hard on this beard.
  19. I was kind of hoping I would open this and it would be a topic about bringing in So Taguchi to be our third baseman, because that would be awesome.
  20. The only way Boras could have made this more self serving would be to declare that if you sign with Scott Boras, you'll be excluded from the draft. OTHERWISE...
  21. That's one of the best things I've ever seen. I don't forward things, and I forwarded that to people.
  22. That was the most epic post in the history of the internet.
  23. My garage door broke this morning. Luckily, my truck was all the way out of the garage when it happened.
