  2. Terrace Box, Section 421. YAY!
  3. Beastie Boys: "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)"
  4. Counsell's OBP the previous three years: .355, .323., .327 Amezaga's OBP the previous three years: .312, .324, .332 Counsell's OPS+ the previous three years: 75, 65, 70 Amezaga's OPS+ the previous three years: 80, 79, 76 There's pretty close offensively and Amezaga is much younger and more versatile defensively. Plus he's a switch hitter. But since Counsell doesn't cost anything to pick up but signing his option, I bet they'll just stay with him.
  5. The game is still 52 hours away. This is going to be a tortuous wait. OTOH, it's good to be waiting for it.
  6. My favorite line of the broadcast was Brian Anderson's call on the final outs: "Hardy! To Durham! To... first!" YAY! GO BREWERS!!!

  8. The last time the Brewers had the 25th overall pick, it was 1982 and they selected... Dale Sveum. Other 25ish notables include Jeff D'Amico (23rd) and Kelly Wunsch (26th) in '93, Alex Fernandez (24th) in '88, and Dan Plesac (26th) in '83.

  11. Here's a little survey, it's pretty simple. The Brewerfan staff wishes to know which baseball-related blogs you read on a regular basis. Please reply to this post (or PM/email me) with the following information: Blogs read on a regular basis (5-7+ times a week) Blogs read on a semi-regular basis (a few times a week) Blogs read on an occasional basis (a few times a month) Feel free to mention your own blog, but do not elaborate on it beyond its mention. If you feel the need to link to the blog, go ahead. While we're more interested in Brewers-specific blogs, feel free and list general baseball blogs too. Please do not reply to other members posts. This thread is for information gathering, not discussion. Every response is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  12. You can watch archives of every game if you are a subscriber to MLB.TV. If you're not a subscriber, you're out of luck on that front.
  13. There might be something on MLB.com. If there's not, Brewerfan does not condone the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted MLB material.
  14. The Brewers have financial wherewithal and flexibility to get it done. They can start by not re-signing both Ben Sheets ($12 million), Greg Gagne ($10 million) and Chris Capuano ($3.75M). That's almost $26M right there. Indeed. It's somewhat encouraging, but I'd be shocked if CC re-signed. And if he did, somewhat disturbed, given he'd account for 1/4 of our payroll at least.
  15. Assuming the rain doesn't get their until early morning, isn't the ideal situation a 1-0 Cubs win in 22 innings? They blow through all their pitchers and get into Milwaukee super late.
  16. True, but the option of getting to the playoffs the easy way (say, a .500 record in September) was itself cashed sometime ago. At this point I'd rather run the risk of CC having nothing in the tank during the playoffs than having him at home resting during the playoffs.
  17. Wouldn't someone "have some cojones" if they stuck to their word? Making empty promises based on bold statements is just false bravado.
  18. Coming up with a single musical genre for Gorillaz is an impossible task.
  19. Gallardo and Parra are top flight arms. LaPorta basically got us Sabathia. Jeffress is gonna be a good one if he stays healthy and clean. I'm very high on Anundsen and Periard, but of course you can't really count those guys in the win column yet. Has he been excellent at drafting pitching? No, but Gallardo, Parra and Jeffress are pretty good in 9 years given all the offense we've drafted. If Melvin were canned, I would be livid if they didn't give the job to Jack.
  20. Please do not make a post using 100% capital letters. I too am curious about which game it is we're going to lose. I can plan around it.
  21. Aside from Gagne's suckitude, Riske's unhealthy go of a season and about a dozen of Mota's appearances (anyone else notice his ERA is under 4.00 now?), the bullpen has been wonderful. That said, say you convinced your boss that you needed this really expensive piece of equipment in order to function properly as a business. It might take up 1/8 of the company's entire budget, but this equipment used to be top of the line, industry benchmark. Then it broke. However, you have heard a repairman fixed it, and it's gonna work just fine now. It worked pretty well for the last business that owned it. Your boss gives you the ok. Is your boss gonna be happy with the machine breaks down on you for a chunk of the year and doesn't do well when it's working properly? Attanasio can't be happy about spending all that cash on Gagne.
  22. As half of the remaining home games are against the Cubs, this is a more than fair bet. If we need to win 2 or 3 of those last 3 games against the Cubs, those games could get ugly quickly from a fan perspective.
  23. Today's loss was the Brewers' existence in a microcosm. Look promising, suck for a long period of time, be good but not good enough, suck again, utterly fail in the face of a positive outcome, continue to suck until we're put out of our misery. Repeat.
  24. I was planning to go to Lowe's tonight to buy some carpet. Unless Lowe's also sells Johnny Walker Black, I will now need to make two stops.
