  1. The odds of Matt Cain being included in this deal are slightly lower than the odds of Angel Salome being traded for just Ray Durham.
  2. Whether or not they get Taschner, they need another high-quality arm in the bullpen, IMO. I predict one more deal for the Brewers before the deadline.
  3. As I noted, I want more than one source, especially since ESPN only mentions Durham.
  4. I know the likelihood of this deal occurring is very high, but I need something more than just Buster Olney before we're willing to call it official. For instance, Durham has to waive his 10/5 status. Please keep all comments about this in the Trade Rumors thread for now.
  5. Games of interest, central timed: 12:10 - Philadelphia @ Florida (C. Hamels vs. J. Johnson) 12:15 - Mets @ Cincinnati (M. Pelfrey vs. E. Volquez) 1:05 - Cubs @ Houston (R. Dempster vs. B. Backe) 1:15 - San Diego @ St. Louis (C. Baek vs. J. Garcia) Go Marlins, Reds, Astros and Padres!
  6. I see your Angel Salome, and lower you Vinny Rottino. Or can I interest you in Carlos Corporan? The only way Salome is included in the deal is if we get a lot more back than just Durham and Taschner. Even Brian Wilson wouldn't be enough, IMO.
  7. Durham has no range at second base anymore... big offensive upgrade, but actually a defensive downgrade from Weeks. I suppose we'd have an outside chance at getting draft compensation for him after the season. Taschner is about as exciting as a warm glass of water, but he's another arm I guess.
  8. There's nothing like sitting back in front of the computer, drinking a big glass of ice-cold water and watching some baseball on Gameday. Life is good.
  9. Sometimes, you just gotta listen to Herb Alpert. http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MMPH/261658~Herb-Alpert-Posters.jpg
  10. Outrageous! I think it's a shame not to be able to watch Sheets pitch, but that's just how the scheduling ball bounces sometimes.
  11. Cody Scarpetta is your starter for the Baby Brewers this afternoon, making his third appearance as a pro.
  12. The thing about Street is, we'd have him for the rest of this year, next year, and the year after that. So while we have options for the eighth inning right now (many of them being dubious options, IMO), Street would give us somewhat long-term stability in the ninth inning. That trickles down to the rest of the staff. With Street, Torres becomes locked in to the 8th inning slot for the rest of the year and presumably next year. I'd rather have "lots of options" for the 6th and 7th innings and know exactly what I'm going to have for the 8th and 9th. Street goes a long way to that end.
  13. Limeade and orange juice is much better with ice than without ice.
  14. If they could get Street and Ellis for Weeks, Bush, Salome*, Pena, Dillard and Ford, I'd be elated. *Assuming Lucroy is not part of the Sabathia deal.
  15. Sabathia just has sick stuff... man oh man, I'd love to have him back. The ump's zone is pretty big tonight. These MLB Extra Innings commercials are already re-driving me insane.
  16. Periard with another very good outing... he's now above his inning total from last year and might be moved out of the rotation soon. Roque Mercedes with yet more dominant work out of the bullpen. Has he finally turned the corner? Steffan Wilson with two more extra base hits as well.
  17. Aurilia is alright, but you'd have to be pretty sure he could play 2B before you trade for him.
  18. Mitch Stetter has a shot to have a nice big league career, though he'll never be a relief ace type of guy. And Tim Dillard should stick around for awhile too. But yah, the Brewers just haven't had a good track record developing relievers. Bateman is a side-armer who doesn't throw particularly hard... I think once big league hitters figured out his delivery, he'd get hit pretty hard. But you never know.
  19. -The team needs a starter for Monday, the 21st. It will presumably be either McClung or Bush. If Yost wants to go with his home/road platoon with those two, the guy not pitching will be in the bullpen. -Mitch Stetter is up. -A move will have to made to take someone off the roster when Suppan comes back on the 22nd.
  20. Compare A to B to C to D, it doesn't make them the same player, especially given the lengthy numbers both have accumulated.
