  1. Darn that Kapler, only averaging an RBI per inning today!
  2. 14 more strikeouts and Sheets surpasses Teddy Higuera for the Brewers' all-time record.
  3. Jack Zdurenciek said it a few times in the offseason.
  4. IMO, Rickie *can* hit 30 home runs, but if he does it won't be for a few years. The key to his whole approach at the plate is getting his timing down - that's why he's so inconsistent. When he's on with his timing, he takes pitches for a reason and knows what he can hit. When he knows what pitch he can hit and he looks for it, he mashes like few others in the game... he's hit some of the hardest hit balls I've ever seen. When his timing is off, he takes pitches to take pitches. He'll hit a few mistakes and get hit but will also strike out badly . This is the Rickie we see more often than not. Once and if he starts getting his timing down pat, he'll start hitting more jacks. I think that'll take a few years. He has such quick hands that it might actually take a little age to slow him down to the point where he'll hit the balls he should. I honestly don't believe any trigger mechanism will help him stay in the hitting zone. It'll just be maturity.
  5. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/0bb25c84109afdf796728dd7733d54ab3f5e342.jpg Can't have a Kapler thread without that photo. Anyway, you're spot on, splitter. Gabe Kapler has played no small part in this team scratching out a 7-4 record without a couple of their best players. He's had the big hits, made some good plays and for whatever its worth, he's fantastic in the clubhouse. I think he's on the club the rest of the year as the 4th/5th outfielder. Is he gonna keep hitting like he has? No way. However, I see him helping in a few areas: 1) He's a legit good outfielder. I'd trust him over Gabe Gross any day (even tho I think Gross is a good corner OF). 2) He'll keep TGJ off the team maybe long enough to realize that he can't hit. I'm not saying Tony has no place on this team, and truthfully with the makeup of the lineup I'd rather our backup OFers be Kapler and Gwynn, but the team seems overly obsessed with Tony's son. I have no problem with the guy, and I hope he helps the team this year. Will he last until the end? Hell, we have Joe Dillon and Salomon Torres too.
  6. 15 minutes x 162 or more games + time to develop the system = amazing work!
  7. Sample size, please. Iribarren has been a crappy baserunner for awhile now.
  8. I still think it's interesting he took the blame for shaking off Kendall against the Reds. If he and Kendall stay on the same page, good things will happen.
  9. You're very quick with these this year, woogster. Don't burn yourself out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Oliver Perez is due to give up something. Hope it's not more than Suppan is due to give up.
  10. It's too bad Hoffpauir is hurt. That guy mashes. In addition to the guys piccione mentioned, Jose Ascanio is a pretty decent relief prospect.
  11. I agree, I think he'll be ok in the long run. I'd really like to see him have a string of nice outings to get some more confidence.
  12. We're now 7-4 with no one in our lineup besides Gabe Kapler, Bill Hall and Jason Kendall hitting, still no Mike Cameron for 2+ weeks, still no Yovanni Gallardo for about a week, and Eric Gagne just pushed his save conversion percentage back to 50%. Could be a lot worse.
  13. Don't particularly care about the national media. Hopefully he'll continue to build on his 50% save conversion rate.

  15. I think he used to pitch for the Angels.
  16. Before the Weeks AB, I was going to post something along the lines of: "Who wants to place money on Rickie striking out in 5 pitches or less?" Then I realized I was too cynical.
  17. I know its cliche, but against a pitcher like Santana, you really need to get a guy in from third with less than two outs.
  18. Periard could have a monster year. His velocity is up into the middle 90's and he's good at keeping the ball down. Combine that with the extremely good pitching environments in the FSL and not much should stop him. He might be up to AA around his 21st birthday in the middle of June. Trowekamp - Salome is back and playing with Huntsville. Jeffress will be out until the middle of May and will probably be with Brevard. Braddock should be back within a month and will start at Brevard. Don't know how far Rogers was set back in spring training... haven't heard anything major happened.
  19. I think John Hammond used to be a congressman from New York. Like in the mid-late 1800's. Amazing what modern cosmetics will do for you.
  20. It gets a little annoying at times. All things being equal, I'd rather listen to someone with enough eloquence to not rely on crutch phrases. I realize they are baseball players, but part of a baseball player's job is to bring in fans. The better they get at public speaking, the more affable they seem to the general public, the more people want to see them, buy their merchandise, etc. For instance part of Brett Favre's charm is his ability to talk well. And for their own personal gain, the better you talk, the more endorsement deals you're gonna get. The Brewers also seem to care enough to put them through interview coaching sessions during their minor league time.
  21. I've been a vegan less than a year. I couldn't just be a vegetarian because with cheese, I was too tempted to have some meat with it. Since I became a vegan, I've lost about 30-35 pounds of fat and added about 12-15 pounds of muscle. If you keep complete proteins in your diet, it's not like your body is gonna be like, "Hey! Wait a minute! This is soy, not london broil! I refuse!*" I'm quite sure the Brewers' training staff is keeping tabs on Prince's dietary habits. Edit: *Unless of course you're allergic to soy.
  22. Except other natural foods, like soy, lentils, beans/rice, etc.
