  1. I've now watched the most recent episode three times... I've formed some opinions as to what may be happening, but the more I think about it, the more confused I get. Some really brilliant patchwork writing in the episode, even if I had no idea what was going on. And where was Mitch Yost? He wasn't even in the show when the family was grouped together at the end of John's whatever it was speech. But yah, I'm mostly lost as well. Edit: Here's John's speech from the end of the episode. Lots of biblical illusions, amongst other things. www.imdb.com/title/tt0814...d/79857687 If you can't access the Imdb message boards, the entire speech is also on my Last.fm profile page, which is at the link on my sig.
  2. Salas should be a no-brainer for promotion. I'd also like to see Thurman promoted and sent back to the pen in AAA.
  3. Does Caleb have a brother we can draft in a few years?

  5. milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com...p&c_id=mil Parra is in Milwaukee, just may not be activated. All depends on what happens with Spurling/Sheets.

  7. Not knowing the ground rules to San Fran's park, that looks pretty blatant, though I didn't even see it when I watched the game. Can't do much about it now, however.
  8. I think the game on Saturday was sort of microcosm of the season. I had my doubts about the game through most of it, even enduring a potentially debilitating injury, and we still got through it OK, and with a win. Even after some of the recent tough losses, I get really giddy thinking about the potential of this team going forward. We are good at every position, have depth at most positions, have four All-Stars, two potential ROY candidates, one of the best bullpens in the league and a starting staff who pretty much can only get better if healthy.
  9. If fake Brewer fans are buying real Brewer tickets and real Brewer merchandise, they can be fake all the live-long day as far as I'm concerned. I don't think the Brewers count their receipts from fake fans any differently than real fans, and it could help raise the payroll anyway. It's all good up to the point of the "Whoever, Whoever... you suck!" chants. Those people need to be kicked out.
  10. PaulRigdon, that Neugie/Lopes photo made me throw up in my mouth a little. Thanks! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c7/NY-32.svg/600px-NY-32.svg.png
  11. If it is long term, it more or less has to be Villanueva. If it is short term, they could get by with Gallardo and his innings limit. If it is nothing, I'll be more than happy to see Ben Sheets pitch in five days. If the injury is nothing "serious" I guess I'd rather have Yo pitch for Sheeter at least once, just to make sure it gets healed up. I'd rather favor Sheets pitching in September/October than try him against Arizona.
  12. Mike Bell is a horse, really one of the more underrated prospects in the system. Really good gap power, and only 22 years old. Very athletic, though not polished, defensively at 2B as well. He's a guy to keep an eye on in Huntsville next year.
  13. Its not like i am going to go everywhere with 6 ounces of whiskey. Then it is time to admit you have a problem. The problem is, you're not drinking enough whiskey. I heard about these awhile back, and I agree with Al that the flask is at a point on the sandals where most of the pressure of the body would come down on it. I might design it so that the flask would be around the arch of the foot.
  14. Maybe Ned makes his "famous" tacos on Wednesday, and everyone eats them, but no one is willing to tell him that the ensuing trips to the bathroom leave them exhausted all the way through the weekend, and that frankly, its not just that he puts way too many refried beans in them, but that he uses a crazy concoction of Velveeta and cottage cheese instead of, you know, like, some cheddar or monterrey jack or something. And that guacamole ain't right. At least, I think that's the most likely reason.
  15. Garrison might get shut down here pretty quick, or at least moved to the bullpen. He only pitched 90 innings last year, and he's there already. Counting what he did in extended before being brought up to WV in '06, he might have a max of 120-130 innings.
  16. Who here has gotten a Bag of Crap from Woot.com? I know there are a few of you. What did you get?
  17. What this comes down to is, it is an interweb rumor, so it isn't going to happen. I'd love to get Saltalamacchia for Bush, but it isn't going to happen. Surprise me with something even better, team Canada.
  18. I'm much more inclined to ride out a bat than I am a glove. Heether had a bad back for most of the last year. He's been getting back into it since May, it appears. When I dropped him on the Power 50, I didn't know about the back. Had I known about it, I never would have dropped him. He's a really good strong glove/decent bat combo guy. I'd play him more at second if I were the Brewers.
  19. Unfortunately for Carlos, he's better in the pen than either Bush or Vargas would be. He's cursed to be so good as a proven commodity. I think even if the Brewers trade Vargas or Bush, Gallardo gets the call anyway. I think it would take both Bush and Vargas being traded/hurt to get CV in the rotation for the rest of the year. He's valuable how he is right now, and will be in the rotation next year.
  20. The new The National is very, very good, though it'll have a tough time eeking its way into my top three albums. There's been so much good music to come out this year, and this isn't their best effort.
  21. I have a lot of good Seitzer memories. He always seemed like a smart ballplayer who would naturally turn into a coach. Hopefully he's worth a crap as a coach and someone will give him another chance.
  22. HankSterling, welcome aboard. Hopefully you'll catch a little bit of major league Brewer fever while following Caleb in the minors. What are his chances of going to WVa this year? First, he has to get that hammy problem straightened out. I would have guessed that without injury, it may have been a tough chance for him to get to A-ball, tho I did mention that I thought he could earn it a few weeks ago. Now with the hamstring, I think the Brewers will be happy to have him finish the year in Helena, and have him go gangbusters in Charleston next year along with Haydel, Bryson, et al. Caleb has me very excited, especially with the comps to Brian Giles I've been hearing. Can't wait to follow this guy.
  23. Adam Heether may have firmly planted himself back on the prospect radar with tonight's showing.
  24. Ichiro is one of those few guys who defies the OPS model in terms of productivity, IMO. He just hits so well and field so well that I have a very difficult time objectively placing him on an accurate scale with most other OFers. Is he worth $20 a year? Maybe not, but many players have worse values.
