  1. The Brewers are 12-6 against pitchers with ERAs under 3.00. Then again, it is Helling starting. My prediction: Brewers win 8-7 just to give Uecker Night some good karma.
  2. If, as some people are advocating, we trade Bill Hall -- how far is Enrique Cruz from being the new Bill Hall? A full year of AAA at least to get anywhere within sniffing distance of a major league 775 OPS. Cruz has loads of power potential for a middle infielder, but in the same vein as Hall, and who thought Hall would work out as relatively well as he has? Cruz could be a decent backup middle infielder with some pop in a few years, and have a nice little career because of his skills. I don't know that he'll ever reach Hall's numbers, but there's always the chance he could exceed them, too. He will have to earn his way onto the big club, which will be a better team than the team Hall got his chance on. Has Wahpepah pitched in a while? As was suggested in the last Power 50, the Brewers have moved Wahpepah out of the rotation to minimize innings here on out. He's pitched 2-3 times out of the pen, IIRC.
  3. Seriously, if he abides by the rules of the board, why heckle him over what he posts. The rules of the board include no play by play. If you really can't stand it, just pretend it's not there. That would negate the need for any of the rules here, yes? I'm not going to get into an arguement over it because this is the way it is.
  4. We don't need play-by-play in the IGT. The IGT is for commenting about the game, not for telling the story of the game. Obviously, you may want to type happy things about a big play, such as: "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. HRRR!####@!!!!!" Or you may want to comment on something in the game, such as: "If Corey Hart grounds into one more double play, I'll demote him back to Ogden1!!!!!##!@#$$!@" That's fine, but merely typing out inconsequential events such as: "7-1" or "Moeller grounds out" or "Santos give up 3 more runs" is kind of pointless. Basically, Brewerfan's official stance is no play-by-play. If you want play-by-play, listen to the radio, watch TV, or go to Sportsline, ESPN, or MLB.com and gamecast it. Edit: Grammar is my friend.
  5. Now if we could only have enough talent to be able to do the same things with our catchers next year. Braun and Heether will be on the Huntsville squad next year, maybe for most of the year. Even though he's the better third baseman right now, Heether better get his first baseman's or second baseman's glove warmed up.
  6. Krynzel has been making noise since he was bumped down to the 2 slot in the batting order behind Durro. Making an offhand guess, I'd say his BA has jumped about 15 points in the past week to week and a half, and he's been taking more walks to boot. Maybe he feels more comfortable as a #2 hitter? I'm fine with that if he's fine with that.
  7. The Reds' TV announcer just said the Brewers had the second-worst offense in the league. Eh?
  8. Well, technically speaking there were seven seperate transactions. If someone really wants to start an in-depth Kane Davis mechanics thread, or a thread comparing Hart to a robot, or a thread comparing Capellan to Paul Anka, they can start a thread on that. Transaction threads are for announcing transactions, and these came as a group. If you're unimpressed with that, so be it. http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/s/stevierichards/11.jpg
  9. It was censorship. Good. Now let's move on with our lives.
  10. Sarfate may have been promoted to Nashville, that's always a possibility, especially if a Nashville pitcher or two was promoted to Milwaukee. Besides Bradley, who else would you promote from Huntsville?
  11. my perfectly legitimate thread was locked and declared rantish yesterday In your opinion is was "prefectly legit." Obviously, is someone else's opinion, it wasn't, especially in lieu of the other trouble you were causing yesterday. If you want to call it censorship, that's fine, but moderators will censor things that need to be censored in the best interests of the board. Is it opinion-based censorship? Yes. However, all censorship, including censoring swear words and political rantings is opinion-based, so you're just going to have to live with the opinions of those that govern you here.
  12. If two people want to tangle this much, please tangle in private messaging. The rest of us don't want to hear about it. Thanks, BrewerFever and Lithium75.
  13. Hey look, the venting thread! Seriously, it is one game.
  14. I think Davey Nelson is a pretty good baserunning coach. Aside from Brady Clark, he's had some pretty good success stories with base stealers. The stuff that goes on on the bases in more on the player's heads, IMO. Going from first to second on a liner to RF is, well, stupid. That has to do more with player maturity than anything else.
  15. we are losers That would make a great t-shirt.
  16. I bet we win this. A bad pitcher pitches well, so a few good pitchers might as will pitch badly. These things even out.
  17. He was drafted in the 47th round of the '04 draft, was signed as a DFE. Throws in the high 80's to low 90's. Probably a relief prospect to maximize his velocity. Pretty good breaking ball.
  18. But aren't we keeping Overbay next season? Keep Prince in AAA until Lyle retires, that's the only way. But seriously, Robert Hinton is very good.
  19. Yes. YES!
  20. Gibson looks like he has a miniscual strike zone, no wonder hitters like him.
  21. 2TO But we all know a strikeout isn't a true outcome because one can reach base via the strikeout. A walk and a homerun are the only true outcomes. That, and the Brewers' wildcard chances, which are prety much akin to reaching base via a strikeout at this point.
  22. I say we're only a WC contender once we get within 1-2 TEAMS of the Astros. We're not there yet. If it were just us and the 'Stros, there would be one of two possible outcomes. Since there are 6 teams in the chase, there are (insert permutation here) possible outcomes.
  23. Braun now with 10 errors and 26 K's (and 5 walks) in 27 games. When he connects, he seems to be hitting the ball hard, but I'm having trouble feeling comfortable with a college #1 pick lacking the plate discipline that he does in low-A ball, not to mention the defense. I don't care what the coaches say, 10 errors (most of which have been throwing, IIRC) isn't good, and neither is a 5:26 BB:K ratio.
  24. If we could take 2 out of 3 from the Cards, I'd say it would be a great series for the Crew. Milwaukee is just so out-gunned by the Cards that I'd say 1 out of 3 is acceptable, and would be good motivation for kicking the crap out of Cincy and Colorado.
