  1. Final: Kane County 8, Wisconsin 3 Kane County Pulls Away Late to Beat Rattlers Cougars top Wisconsin 8-3 By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars scored six times with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to blow open a close game with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Sunday night at Northwestern Medicine Field. The Cougars took a 2-0 lead and turned it into an 8-0 advantage on their way to an 8-3 victory over the Rattlers. Wisconsin (22-28) loaded the bases with two outs in the first inning against Kane County starting pitcher Jeff Bain, but Pat McInerney's line drive was right at shortstop Jasrado Chisholm and the ball was caught for the final out of the inning. Eduardo Diaz gave the Cougars (25-21) a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the second inning. Tim Susnara followed with a double. Then, Joey Rose drove in Susnara with a single and Kane County was up 2-0. The Rattlers missed out on opportunities in the fourth and fifth innings against Bain. In the fourth, McInerney and Zach Clark both singled with one out, but they were left stranded as Bain retired the next two batters. In the fifth, Joantgel Segovia doubled to start the inning, but the inning ended with Segovia standing on third base. Bain left the game after giving up a two-out single to Clark in the sixth inning. He walked two, scattered six hits, and struck out four without allowing a run. Devin Hairston walked to start the Wisconsin seventh inning against reliever Erbert Gonzalez, but Gonzalez struck out the next three batters to send the game to the stretch with Kane County still up 2-0. Wisconsin reliever Wilfred Salaman made his Timber Rattlers debut by entering the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. He gave up hits to the first two batters he faced, but got out of the inning without allowing a run. Salaman was not as lucky in the seventh. The first two Kane County batters after the stretch drew walks against Salaman. But, a strikeout and a force play at second gave Salaman a chance to escape the inning. They did not escape as Kane County strung together six straight two-out hits to score six runs and put the game out of reach. Yoel Yanqui and Renae Martinez had back-to-back RBI singles to score the first two runs of the inning and drive Salaman from the game. Yan Sanchez greeted reliever Jose Cuas with a two-run single. Diaz followed with an RBI double. Susnara was next and he singled to score Diaz and it was 8-0 in favor of Kane County. Rose, who started the inning with a walk, singled for the final hit of the sequence before Cuas got the final out of the inning. The Rattlers avoided the shutout with a three-run home run by Segovia in the top of the ninth inning. Wisconsin stranded ten runners on base and finished the game 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Wisconsin is 0-6 against Kane County this season. The final game of the four-game series at Northwestern Medicine Field is Monday afternoon. Christian Taugner (0-4, 4.02) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Kane County has named Mack Lemieux (1-3, 5.13) as their starter. Game time on Memorial Day is 1:00pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Joantgel Segovia hit his third career home run (HRs are old hat now for Joantgel) and added a double for good measure but the Rattlers ended up getting squished. Carlos Herrera has exhibited major control problems this year. Love the arm angle, but it'll take work for that angle to work as a starter. That said, he made his best start this year, allowing 2 runs over 5 innings, but with only one walk vs. 6 strike outs. Wilfred Salaman, making his T-Rats debut, picked off about a dozen guys last year for the AZL Brewers but he did not manage a pick-off today, and got hit around a bit. Wisconsin Game Log
  2. RHP Dylan File was placed on Wisconsin's 7-day DL; 20 year-old LHP Wilfred Salaman replaces him on the Rattlers' roster. Salaman is making his full-season debut.
  3. Final: Kane County 6, Wisconsin 5 Rattlers Can't Close; Cougars Rally to win Wisconsin had 5-0 lead, loses 6-5 to Kane County on a walk-off single By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GENEVA, IL - A 5-0 lead on Saturday night at northwestern Medicine Field wasn't enough for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to get their first win over the Kane County Cougars this season. The Cougars chipped away at the lead to get close, threatened to at least tie the score a few times, and eventually won the game with two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-5 walk-off win. The Timber Rattlers scored five times in the top of the second inning to take the lead. The Cougars opened the door with an error to allow Nick Roscetti to wind up at third to lead-off the inning. Pat McInerney drove in Roscetti with a single. Gabriel García followed with a single. Then, Jay Feliciano cracked a long homer to left and the Rattlers were up 4-0. Wisconsin took advantage of another fielding miscue later in the frame to add to their lead. Devin Hairston walked and Joantgel Segovia singled. The ball was misplayed in center to allow both runners to move up to second and third. Tristen Lutz got Hairston home with a grounder to short and the Rattlers had a 5-0 lead. The Cougars got on the scoreboard with a two-out rally in the bottom of the second inning. Wisconsin starting pitcher Nelson Hernández issued a walk on a very close 3-2 pitch to Tim Susnara. Then, Joey Rose, who homered for Kane County on Thursday night, hit another home run and the Cougars were within three runs. Hernández settled in after the homer by Rose and retired the next nine batters in a row, but ran into trouble with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. A single, a walk, and an infield single loaded the bases for the Cougars. Yoel Yanqui followed with a single to center to score two runs and cut the Wisconsin lead to one run. The inning wasn't over yet. Hernández walked the next batter to reload the bases before getting a popup to end the frame with the Rattlers still up 5-4. Robbie Hitt took over for Hernández in the sixth inning and worked around a two-out walk. In the seventh, Hitt had to work around a much more serious situation. Jasrado Chisholm reached on an error against second baseman Nick Roscetti with one out. Then, Yanqui singled and Ernie De La Trinidad drew a walk to load the bases. Hitt fell behind Eudy Ramos 3-0 before coming back with strikes on his next to pitches to run the count full. Ramos sent a one-hopper near the second base bag that Roscetti fielded cleanly. Roscetti stepped on second and fired to first to complete the inning-ending double play. Rodrigo Benoit entered the game in the eighth inning and allowed a one-out double, but escaped to the ninth with the lead intact. However, the Wisconsin tightrope act ended in the ninth inning. Yan Sanchez singled to start the inning, but Benoit struck out Chisholm looking for the first out. Yanqui was next and he sent a grounder to third that looked like a game-ending double play. However, García let the ball get past him and the game continued. Benoit walked De La Trinidad to load the bases for Ramos again and Ramos did not let this opportunity slip through his fingers. Ramos lined the first pitch he got from Benoit to deep center for a two-run single and the Cougars celebrated their 6-5 win. Wisconsin is 0-5 against Kane County this season. Game three of the series is Sunday night at Northwestern Medicine Field. Carlos Herrera (0-2, 6.59) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The Cougars have named Jeff Bain (2-1, 3.32) as their starter. Game time is 6:30pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log
  4. RHP Trey Supak has been promoted to Biloxi. To backfill his rotation spot, RHP Phil Bickford has been transferred from Helena to Carolina to make his season debut. RHP Wuilder Rodriguez has been transferred from Biloxi to Carolina, and RHP Alec Crawford has been placed on the Mudcats’ DL.
  5. Final: Wisconsin 11, Quad Cities 1 Rattlers Score a Split With Big Eighth Inning Wisconsin beats Quad Cities 11-1 with a nine-run eighth inning By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers DAVENPORT, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers earned a split in their four-game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park on the strength of a nine-run eighth inning on Thursday night. The Rattlers pounded the River Bandits 11-1 for the win. Wisconsin (22-25) scored thanks to a two-out rally in the top of the fourth. KJ Harrison doubled with two outs. Gabriel García followed with a double and Harrison scored for a 1-0 lead. The River Bandits (25-21) tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Colton Shaver. The home run was the only run allowed by Wisconsin starting pitcher Alec Bettinger, who made his fourth straight quality start. The right-hander went six innings, allowed four hits, walked none, and struck out three. He was in line for the win after the Rattlers rallied to take the lead back in the top of the seventh inning. Pat McInerney walked with one out and stole second with two outs. Nick Roscetti, who had four hits in the game, followed with a single to right and McInerney beat the throw to the plate for a 2-1 lead. Reliever Gabe Friese retired the River Bandits in order in the bottom of the seventh. Then, Wisconsin exploded for their biggest inning of the season as they scored nine runs in the eighth. The eighth inning started with Demi Orimoloye reaching second on an error and taking third on a wild pitch. García sent a grounder to first and the throw came home, but Orimoloye beat it to give the Rattlers a 3-1 advantage. River Bandits pitcher Enoli Parades retired the next batter before being replaced by Dariel Aquino. The Rattlers feasted on Aquino. McInerney doubled to drive in García for a 4-1 lead. Aquino walked Devin Hairston and gave up a single to Roscetti to load the bases. A passed ball let McInerney score. Then, Joantgel Segovia doubled to drive in the other runners for a 7-1 lead. Aquino walked the next two batters to reload the bases and Harrison unloaded them when he launched a home run to left-center for the first Wisconsin grand slam of the season. The nine-run inning finally ended when Adam Bleday took over for Aquino and got the final out. Gabe Friese, who started in the bottom of the seventh to protect a 2-1 lead, worked a scoreless eighth and a scoreless ninth to close out the game and earn his fourth save of the season. One down not for the Timber Rattlers was when starting catcher Payton Henry had to leave the game. Henry beat out an infield single in the second inning while avoiding a tag by the first baseman, but he stumbled hard over the bag and came up limping. Henry stayed in the game to run the bases, but left the game after he was erased on a double play. Wisconsin one game one of the series 2-1. The River Bandits took game two 8-0 and game three 8-4 before the Rattlers won the final game of the series. The Timber Rattlers continue their road trip with game one of a four-game series against the Kane County Cougars on Friday night. Bowden Francis (1-1, 3.31) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Kane County has named Jhoan Duran (1-0, 3.00) as their starter. Game time in Geneva, Illinois is 6:30pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log
  6. I honestly don't even know if you're joking or not, but no. He struggles at third base both with footwork and arm strength. Maybe he works up to passable at the hot corner but his defensive skill set will not translate at all to short.

  9. Aaron Wilkerson has been placed on the Sky Sox' 7-day DL in order to add Freddy Peralta to the active roster. Wilkerson missed the first six weeks of the AAA season after dislocating his non-throwing shoulder at the beginning of April. No word on whether his current DL stint is related to that. He's appeared in 3 games for the Sky Sox, 2 of them starts.
  10. Final: Quad Cities 8, Wisconsin 4 River Bandits Rally Late to Beat Wisconsin Rattlers 4-1 lead isn't enough By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers DAVENPORT, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 8-4 on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Wisconsin (21-25) scored a run in the top of the second inning by taking advantage of a bout of wildness by Bandits starting pitcher Patrick Sandoval. KJ Harrison drew a leadoff walk. Gabriel García reached on an infield single and Devin Hairston walked with one out to load the bases. Then, Sandoval uncorked a wild pitch to allow Harrison to score. Quad Cities (25-20) put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the third inning. Wisconsin starter Christian Taugner retired the first two batters of the inning, but walked Jake Meyers to extend the inning. Jonathan Arauz followed with a triple into the right-field corner and Meyers scored the tying run. The Rattlers went back in front in the top of the fifth. Payton Henry singled and Nick Roscetti doubled to start the inning. Then, Tristen Lutz lined a three-run homer to right with one out and the Rattlers were up 4-1. The homer was the fifth of the season for Lutz. Taugner allowed one run over five innings and struck out five before leaving the game in the hands of the Wisconsin bullpen. Jose Cuas walked the first batter he faced in the bottom of the sixth inning. Then, Miguelangel Sierra doubled to drive that runner home. Next, Cuas walked Jake Adams and a wild pitch on ball four allowed Sierra to take third base. The River Bandits sent Adams to steal second with Michael Papierski at the plate. The throw went through to second to get Adams, but Sierra raced home and scored without a play to cut the Wisconsin lead to one. Cuas got the first out in the bottom of the seventh inning before giving way for reliever Cody Beckman. Beckman gave up a single on an 0-2 pitch to the first batter he faced, walked the second batter, and gave up an infield single to the third batter to see the River Bandits load the bases. Corey Julks, who had four hits on Tuesday for Quad Cities, sent a grounder deep in the hole at short. Devin Hairston made a diving attempt, but the ball glanced off his glove into left. Two runs scored by the time the ball was retrieved by the Rattlers defense and the River Bandits had a 5-4 lead. Jake Adams, who hit two homers on Tuesday for the Bandits, added insurance for Quad Cities with a line drive off the wall in left-center with two outs for a two-run double and a 7-4 lead. A misplayed flyball led to a lead-off double in the bottom of the eighth. That eventually allowed Meyers to hit an RBI triple with two outs to make the score 8-4. Wisconsin was held scoreless by the Quad Cities bullpen after the homer by Lutz. Juan Robles pitched 3-1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win. Carlos Sanabria pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game. The final game of the series at Modern Woodmen Park is Thursday evening. Alec Bettinger (3-3, 4.20) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Quad Cities will counter with Cesar Rosado (2-2, 5.02). Game time is 6:35pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log
  11. Yep, they are 2 over. Tim Dillard was placed on Colorado Springs' 7-day DL and Shane Opitz was transferred to Helena. The Sky Sox will need to clear 3 more spaces to accommodate the returns of Freddy Peralta, Ji-Man Choi, and Brandon Woodruff in the coming days. Have to imagine Michael Brady and Radhammes Liz are feeling some heat, though there is the open roster spot in Biloxi recently vacated by Tom Jankins.
  12. No, we won't. Never forget.

  14. Final: Quad Cities 8, Wisconsin 0 River Bandits Shut Out Rattlers 8-0 Wisconsin suffers first shutout loss of 2018 By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers DAVENPORT, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were beaten 8-0 by the Quad Cities River Bandits Tuesday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park. Wisconsin hitters were held to six hits by three River Bandits pitchers in the game. Wisconsin (21-24) had opportunities early. Zach Clark singled to start the game, but was caught stealing in a strike-'em out, throw-'em out double play. KJ Harrison started the second inning with a double for the Rattlers. Then, River Bandits starting pitcher Leovanny Rodriguez struck out the next three batters to strand Harrison in scoring position. That would be the last scoring chance the Rattlers would have against Rodriguez. The right-hander pitched five innings, allowed two hits, and struck out nine. Jake Adams gave the River Bandits (24-20) a lead with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was the first of his two home runs on the day. Quad Cities knocked Wisconsin starter Dylan File out of the game with one out in the fifth inning on a single by Jonathan Lacroix and a walk to Jonathan Arauz. Corey Julks, who was 4-for-4 with a walk in five plate appearances on Tuesday, welcomed reliever Robbie Hitt to the game with a single to left to score Lacroix. The Rattlers did get the second out of the inning when Arauz was tagged out between second on third while trying to advance on the RBI single by Julks. Miguelangel Sierra made it 3-0 with a double to drive in Julks. The Rattlers got reliever Patrick Mushinski on the ropes in the top of the sixth inning as Tristen Lutz walked, Demi Orimoloye singled, and Harrison walked with one out. But, Mushinski got out of the inning on a 5-2-3 double play. Jake Meyers put the River Bandits up 5-0 in the sixth inning with a two-out, two-run double off Hitt. Adams struck again with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. He hit this home run off Matt Hardy. The River Bandits scored their final run in the eighth inning on a two-out, RBI single by Julks. The Rattlers tried to avoid the shutout in the ninth inning when Gilbert Lara smacked a one-out double to right-center off reliever Luis Garcia. Pat McInerney drew a walk with two outs, but Garcia ended the game with a routine fly out to right. The shutout loss was the first suffered by the Timber Rattlers this season. They had played their first 44 games of the season without being shutout. Wisconsin's three-game winning streak and Quad Cities' three-game losing streak both ended with the result on Tuesday. Game three of the series is on Wednesday evening. Christian Taugner (0-4, 4.29) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Patrick Sandoval (3-1, 3.57) is set to start for the River Bandits. Game time is 6:35pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log
  15. Ability to move suddenly/show bursts of muscle strength. Like quick acceleration out of the box/reaction time in the field.
  16. Just on the eyeball test this doesn't seem toooooo far off to me, though I'd take out Hiura/Nottingham and replace with Erceg. I also wouldn't trade Peralta - Woodruff would have to be the guy. Given the constitution of the Yelich deal, I actually wonder if they'd want *another* Brewers OF prospect. They might have interest in Mario Feliciano as a long-term replacement for Realmuto, perhaps? Assuming Mario's medicals are getting to the point of clean. Burnes/Erceg/Woodruff/Feliciano seems like a strong package to me. That's arguably 3 top-125 talents and a high-upside young catcher. Don't know if they'd bite, though.
  17. Final: Nashville 5, Colorado Springs 4 *** Colorado Springs Box Score Not to rag on the guy, but Eric Sogard's .237 average sticks out like a sore thumb. #FreeNateOrf on base 3 more times. Tristan Archer continues to produce, and I'm a little surprised the Brewers haven't given him a shot yet. He has an oddball delivery, but decent ability to command plus go multiple innings. Colorado Springs Game Log Tying run left on second in the 9th: Col. Springs Top of the 9th Pitching Change: Bobby Wahl replaces Dean Kiekhefer. Dylan Moore flies out to center fielder Jake Smolinski. With Nate Orf batting, Kyle Wren caught stealing 3rd base, catcher Beau Taylor to third baseman Sheldon Neuse, Quintin Berry to 2nd. Nate Orf hit by pitch. 19. Yep, they are 2 over. I had assumed that Dillard and Noriega would be Helena'd, but Gabriel played last night so I'm not sure what the deal is. They shouldn't need to clear room for Peralta for another few days, though.
  20. Final: Wisconsin 2, Quad Cities 1 Rattlers Win 2-1 to Start Road Trip Hernández has another strong start; Orimoloye & McInerney homer in support at QC By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers DAVENPORT, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers began their 11-game road trip with a 2-1 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The Rattlers did just enough to pick up the win in another close game. The River Bandits (23-20) nearly took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Roman Garcia doubled to start the frame. Jake Meyers singled to center and Garcia tried to score. Centerfielder Joantgel Segovia fielded the ball cleanly and came up firing to the plate to catch Garcia for the out and keep the game scoreless. Demi Orimoloye and Pat McInerney gave the Rattlers (21-23) the lead in the top of the fourth. Orimoloye lined a lead-off homer to right-center for the first run of the game. McInerney cracked a two-out solo shot to center and the Rattlers were up 2-0. Orimoloye's homer was his fourth of the season. McInerney's homer was his eighth of the season. Wisconsin starter Nelson Hernández retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the fifth, but he walked Jonathan Lacroix, the number nine hitter for the River Bandits, on a 3-2 pitch. Jake Meyers made Hernández pay for the walk by lining the next pitch for a double to left-center. Lacroix scored easily and the Wisconsin lead was cut to one run. Hernández would get the final out of the fifth, retire the River Bandits in order in the sixth, and get the first out of the seventh, but he was removed from the game after walking Colton Shaver. Michael Petersen took over for Hernández and got out of the seventh by getting the next batter to ground into a 5-4-3 double play. Petersen would work around a two-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning to maintain the 2-1 lead. Rodrigo Benoit was called from the Wisconsin bullpen to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning, but there was a slight scare before the inning began. Benoit slipped on the mound while delivering a warm-up pitch and appeared to injure his left leg. He received a few extra warm-up tosses and was deemed ready to go. Ready to go would be putting it mildly. Benoit struck out the side in order, including a called third strike to end the game, earn his fourth save, and give the Rattlers their third straight win. Hernández picked up his sixth win of the season. He has won five straight decisions and has allowed a total of three runs over 20-1/3 innings in his last three starts. The last five Timber Rattlers games have been decided by one run. The series continues on Tuesday morning at Modern Woodmen Park. Dylan File (5-2, 3.60) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Quad Cities will counter with Leovanny Rodriguez (1-0, 2.25). Game time is 11:00am. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log

  22. Final: Burlington 3, Wisconsin 2 Rattlers Triumph in Ten over Burlington Henry drives in winning run in bottom of the tenth By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers concluded their long homestand with a 2-1 walkoff victory over the Burlington Bees on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Payton Henry knocked in the winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the tenth to give the team a little boost before they head out on an long road trip on Monday. The Timber Rattlers (20-23) had the best early scoring opportunity. KJ Harrison doubled to start the second inning and moved to third on a grounder off the bat of Gilbert Lara. However, Bees starting pitcher Luis Madero struck out the next two batters to end the threat. Madero pitched five scoreless innings, allowed two hits, walked none, and struck out three. The Bees (17-23) broke the ice when Jo Adell cracked a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning. The homer was the sixth of the season for Adell, the number one prospect in the Los Angeles Angels system. That was the only run allowed by Rattlers starting pitcher Bowden Francis, who gave up just three hits over 5-1/3 innings. Wisconsin got the game back to even in the eighth inning. Nick Roscetti singled with one out, but was still at first base with two away. Then, Tristen Lutz delivered for the Rattlers...again. The Wisconsin outfielder lined a 1-2 pitch from reliever Kida De La Cruz just fair down the line in left for a double to send Roscetti home with the tying run. Lutz has driven in at least one run in eight of the last nine games he has played. This RBI on Sunday did two things. It tied the game and kept the Rattlers from being shutout for the first time this season. The game remained tied and went the Rattlers went to extra innings for the third time this season, but for the first time at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. As per the new rules for minor league baseball this season, the Bees started the tenth inning with a runner at second base. Wisconsin reliever Gab Friese retired the first batter on a fly ball to right that was deep enough to move the lead runner to third, but he escaped the inning with a popup and a grounder to keep the game tied. Wisconsin sent pinch-runner Zach Clark to second base to start the bottom of the tenth with Bees reliever Austin Krzeminski on the mound. The Bees infield was set up for a bunt by Roscetti and Clark attempted to steal third. He was unsuccessful and when Roscetti popped out, it looked like the game was heading to the eleventh inning. Demi Orimoloye had other ideas as he extended the tenth inning by drawing a walk on a 3-2 pitch. Lutz followed with a single to center that brought Henry to the plate. Henry sent a soft liner to right on a 3-2 pitch and Orimoloye, who was running on the pitch, scored easily and the Rattlers celebrated their second straight win. Three Wisconsin relievers - Matt Hardy, Cody Beckman, and Friese - combined to pitch 4-2/3 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit to give the offense a chance to win the game. Wisconsin concluded their 14-game homestand with an 8-6 record. The homestand started with a walkoff win over the Lansing Lugnuts on May 7 and ended on Sunday with the walkoff win over the Bees. The Timber Rattlers hit the road on Monday to start an eleven-game road trip that begins with game one of a four-game series at Modern Woodmen Park against the Quad Cities River Bandits. Nelson Hernández (5-2, 4.43) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The River Bandits have named Yohan Ramirez (3-2, 3.38) as their starter. Game time is 6:35pm. *** Wisconsin Box Score Wisconsin Game Log
  23. Ray was, relatively speaking, a raw college hitter. He's also a fighter who so far has overcome everything presented to him. To think that he couldn't overcome his "shortcomings" is naive, to say the least. He's a big league hitter. Those saying otherwise over the past year are going to look pretty ridiculous.
