  1. With Narveson going to the pen until after the September 1 call ups, that puts 4 guys in the pen who can easily go multiple innings (Narveson, Estrada, De La Cruz, Dillard). It also means that the pitching staff with 4 starters and 9 relievers. This situation sends the clear message to bring up at least one bat from AAA. This gives more options off the bench on offense. It also makes the player eligible for the playoffs. Basically, the Brewers would have a week to "preview" what managing the playoff roster would be like, with the notable exceptions of Gomez and Weeks [both on DL]. Either Dillard or De La Cruz should be dropped for either Gamel or Green before the Cubs series this weekend. I can't imagine Melvin and Roenicke actually going through August 31 with 13 pitchers, but some moves have been surprises before.
  2. 0-for-10 according to Gameday. A number of them with 0 or 1 out, including some ABs from the better hitters in the lineup. There's the source of the loss. Can't wait to have Weeks back in the #5 spot and see McGehee and Betancourt bumped down in the order where they belong.
  3. Hope this game isn't one of those with the dreaded "Rookie Pitcher's First Start Curse" attached to it. Too many of those in the Brewers' past.

  5. 7IP, 7H, 2ER, 0BB, 2K at 100 pitches. That's a pretty tidy line for Estrada. Excellent for a #6 starter.
  6. Yeah. I was at a stoplight in Center City, Philadelphia when the earthquake was felt. My Forester started shaking around. I thought it was the subway underneath the road. All sorts of people then started coming out of their office buildings. Just weird feeling.
  7. Failure to score after having bases loaded, none out. Easier to take when up by six runs, but still is aggravating to see.
  8. I've got to wonder if Roenicke just needs some more time to "master" the National League game. It's his first managing post and he had spent much time in the American League. Forcing the opponent's hand by getting to the pitcher's spot in the order is probably not thought of right away in his mind, but perhaps he is learning. Now if Roenicke can just get the idea of defensive substitutions through the double switch down........
  9. Good work by Gallardo to close out the inning. No more knuckleballs for the hitters to face. Time to rough up the Mets bullpen again!
  10. Man, when the starters begin to lose it, they seem to lose it fast.
  11. Let them off the hook. Terrible ABs after getting the first two on.
  12. Way to go #4 & #5 hitters! It's going to be one crazy win-percentage graph today.
  13. Mark Kotsay......Professional Hitter. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. 2 on, none out. Great start! Must score situation, regardless of what game it is.
  15. Failure to put batters away after getting them to 0-2 counts + bad defense = a lethal combo.
  16. Complete mismanagement of the pitching staff in this inning. Will be fortunate to have the lead going into the 8th.
  17. Another multi-run homer! The ratio of runs to hits is just amazing.
