  1. Supposedly. Yeah, who knows. Does it really matter at this point? Not sure that it does.
  2. Middle relief pen is largely a second set of starting rotation arms. And Woody coming back soon too.
  3. These two are largely interchangeable and have nearly identical skill sets. Murphy views the 6 spot as a second leadoff as it statistically leads off the second most innings after the 1 spot. So it makes sense to have them hitting with Turang at 1 and Sal at 6. But Frelick has better offensive numbers while Turang is slipping a little. Wouldn't it seem logical to flip them some days and see how it pans out? I wouldn't mind even seeing them in the 1 and 2 since we're getting almost nothing after 6. Yount and Molitor were regularly at the top of the lineup. Turang and Frelick are the closest thing they have currently to that HOF duo of the past. Why not try that recipe and let the power hitters 3-6 get more ABs with men on base?
  4. Yes, they have to be strategic / smart about it.
  5. Let him get a taste. No reason not to. If any of the minor league infielders were ready for 3B, I say get them up for a taste as well. MIL literally has nothing to lose. They are a wildcard at best and even that is bit of a stretch unless the heart of the order start hitting again.
  6. My knee jerk reaction is also "you don't move a gold / platinum glove". But my opinion has changed. There can be circumstances where that becomes a blind spot in how a team can best manage its assets. If you can spend virtually at will to acquire or retain the upper crust talent, then keep your GG's at the position. But for a small market / shoestring budget team, I'm no longer married to that concept. I think it would be less preferable now in the middle of the season to shift Turang to SS, but I wouldn't be opposed to it for next season. MIL is biding its time with what they have until a prospect or three arrive in a couple of years. Nobody of the ballyhooed prospect pool is expected to make the jump next year from what I read. Durbin and Ortiz are band aids unless they start hitting. And I doubt they pick up anyone of significance in the off season for 3rd or SS to alter the current infield options. MIL is stalling until Pratt, Wilken, Adams, Bitonti, Boeve, Made etc are ready and gambling they are MLB quality talents. We have a couple of "meh" seasons to chomp threw most likely.
  7. LOL, nope. I despise MLB's financial / competitive imbalance. Whether or not they get overlooked is entirely subjective, and you may have your opinion. I happen to believe it's in MLB's interests to have its shiniest awards go to its shiniest stars in its big market franchises whenever possible. Of course there will be exceptions. But to your point, I do think sometimes they "throw a bone" to small market teams as a feel good consolation prize like Murphy's Manager of the Year. Really meaningless award, but hey, Brewers fans can thump their chest about something, and that will keep them watching this grossly tilted league. I believe there is an aspect of that in the MLB business model.
  8. Yes, I wrongly interpreted that you meant this season. The rest of your post is on point. He has MVP potential no doubt. Stiff competition though. Has to be lights out obvious as small market players will get overlooked if there are several neck and neck considerations. He'll be an All Star no doubt. Probably multiple times if for no other reason than he will be the marketing face of the franchise for most of the coming decade.
  9. I don't entirely discount team leadership, But I do think some fans put too much weight on it is what I was getting at.
  10. LOL... you win the optimist award this week!
  11. I think the fascination with Adames as mentor / team leader / cheerleader was overblown. He was the dugout, class clown whose Gatorade dump schtick seemed to entertain a lot of casual fans. Nonetheless, I could see how a bright eyed, minor jumping to the big stage could find a security blanket in a veteran Hispanic teammate with a big personality. The bigger / better point is having the centerfield responsibilities thrust upon him unexpectedly. Overall, he is doing fine. Like I said, I just wonder which version we should expect in the coming years. Will he be a classic slow / streaky starter who tears it up in the 2nd half annually? Or will he level out his peak production throught the season(s)?
  12. What do you think explains Chourio's drop off this year? The HR production is still respectable, but the average is... well.... average. Sophomore slump to some degree? Pitchers have enough video to learn his weaknesses? Did he set the bar so high last year, that it's unfair to compare year 1 numbers to year 2? I'm not down on him by any means, he's still only 21 years old. I just wonder if the Chourio of last year was the exception and this year's version is what we should come to expect, or vice versa.
  13. Agreed 2B is the only logical place for Seigler. Wasn't advocating for him to play anywhere else. I know Turang came up as a SS. My point was driven off of comments from the broadcast recently. They said that (paraphrasing) Turang and the coaching (Lane) had developed an advanced fielding practice routine for the that targets the specific nuances of playing second base. My interpretation was that it emphasized building on the skills necessary to field at an elite level for ground ball situations unique to the position. Building muscle memory, reflexive instinct, recognition etc. Like probably many posters here, I played SS, 3B and 2B in very low level ball, and I know it's fairly easy to transition between them. But to play to an elite level, is a different matter. Turang could easily move to SS, no doubt. But they've invested a decent amount of effort to make / keep him elite at 2B. Would the tradeoff of moving him to SS in order to bring up Seigler be worth it? That's something I don't think they are ready to decide just yet. They wouldn't just flip the switch, they would have to let the cat out of the bag by giving him practice reps as SS for awhile I would think.
  14. Not entirely unlikely. But it's kind of hard to move a guy not only off a position he excels at, but to do so in the middle of a season where all his prep has taken place at 2B. Yes, Turang has played plenty of SS, but it's been awhile. Throws and positioning, footwork etc all change and the muscle memory doesn't come back over night. Maybe at that point they would figure they have nothing to lose however by trying it.
  15. He has, unfortunately, disappeared.
  16. Your last sentence says it all. Hard to compete when 3 of your 4 big guns are all having down years., and the fourth has traded power for batting average.
  17. Yes, it’s available on the Roku channel. Thought I heard through June, but not certain.
  18. Beyond it being a successful formula at present, I like that it gets Hall some innings in a starter’s role. Really hoping that piece of the Burnes trade bears fruit for the rotation.
  19. It’s an antiques shop, so I assume it’s for sale. He did ask me if I was interested.
  20. So, the owner told me he got the sign from a guy who was relocating to Florida. The sign came from a Rattler's renovation project from years ago. The current owner supposed the guy he got it from was a contractor working on that renovation at the time and salvaged it. He told me it lights up too.
  21. Excellent article. Really enjoy getting decent updates on some of the brighter prospects. I catch a few innings of every level some weeks, but still don't always have a great feel for how they are doing overall.
  22. Yes, maybe. I never heard any specifics. It seemed unusual they would be shopping him. But I think the potential (at the time) of Bregman to Phil may have been involved. It was just too good of a fit to be true - they needed a closer with a chance to resign him, we needed a short term, affordable answer at 3B that can actually hit for average and some power. Was not meant to be. I don't know what else might be feasible in the way of a trade that A) doesn't block prospects, B) is small market affordable, and C) is an actual significant upgrade.
  23. The article does a commendable job of polishing the turd statistics. But c'mon - he doesn't cure what is ailing the Brewers woeful left side offense. Plus, he costs too much to gamble that the Brewers hitting coaches can get him right. They should have pounced on Bohm when he was dangled as being on the block. They "missed 100% of the times on the shot they didn't take - Wayne Gretzky" -Michael Scott, Regional Manager, Dunder Mifflin.
  24. Fans also tend to (naturally) overrate their team's prospects too. We're jacked about these guys, but are the front offices of other teams equally so? I doubt it. in '24, MKE gave up their 21st ranked prospect last year for Civale. They also gave up a marginal reliever and OF along with cash for Montas. Those guys are about the type of quality of depth that MKE might be willing to part with at present, and that's about what they would get back. If the recent improved offense sputters again taking them out of contention, perhaps they could/would move Perralta and Quintana. You might get a quality upgrade 3B for Perralta, but they wouldn't need one this year as that's why they're selling to begin with. And you don't need a long term upgrade if they believe in the Wilken, Pratt, Boeve in '26 or '27. And you're right. Nobody is going to give up a meaningful 3B upgrade for a minor league asset. Several assets perhaps, but at what cost?
