  1. bernie- This is probably a REALLY stupid question, but I've been wondering about shorts and you will probably be able to answer my question. I signed up for this 2 days ago after reading this link. So far I've shorted 2 people. One now has a +%, and one a -%, but they both say "gain." I'm guessing the -% is what I want, but I want to be sure. When you short, you still want the -%, they don't switch it around, right?
  2. How predictable was that? Good grief. Why can't we have someone else even halfway decent that can play the outfield?
  3. Games like this just kill me. I don't mind if we get beat. But when we beat ourselves, that is hard to swallow. The Phillies offense did nothing today.
  4. I'm sure his dad will be singing the national anthem. "Now singing the national anthem, Joseph Antanasio!"
  5. LINK to ESPN article about Burrell leaving practice today. Maybe our good friend Geoff Jenkins will be seeing some extra PT.
  6. I'm knocking on wood as I say this. So if Cam goes down in the first inning of the first game, you wouldn't mind trotting Hall out in center for the whole series? Or putting Nelson/Dillon in right and shifting Hart to center? This is the most important 5 games for the Brewers in 26 years. I don't think there is any way they can risk that. A lot of playoff games are won from pitching and defense. But I agree, Gwynn should then be the last option off the bench, and should HOPEFULLY only be used as a pinch runner/defensive replacement.
  7. I highly doubt they will send you anything in the mail this late in the week. My tickets got lost in the mail, and when I called yesterday to get them replaced she said there was no way to mail them, I had to pick them up at will call. But as for parking, I believe general is $15. I'm not positive, but I think that's what I remember what I paid. If you don't wanna drive to Miller Park, there are a couple passes on eBay. They may be more expensive, but you can probably arrange it to be shipped to you.
  8. I'm pretty sure I also heard them say during the postgame celebration last night that FSN WI was going to broadcast the event starting at 5.
  9. Yeah, thanks. I decided I should probably call today just in case something happened to them, and she just called me back. Apparently they were printed (and she thought shipped) on the 18th. She said she would do some digging, and get back to me. But if I remember correctly, these tickets didn't have any tracking or anything on them when I received them last season, so I'm not sure how she is able to track them down. Maybe I'll just have to go through my closet, find the shirt that shows off my muscles the most, and start going door to door!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  10. This isn't really on topic of this thread, but I didn't want to start a different one. I have both a 20 and 10 game pack. I received my 20 game pack playoff tickets last week. But I have yet to receive my 10 pack playoff tickets. I ordered them when they went on sale, and looking at the confirmation email I received, it says "all orders shipped via U.S. Mail will be delivered within 7 days." It has been more than 7 days, almost 2 weeks. Have other 10 pack ticket holders already received their tickets? Should I start to get worried?
  11. For the Phillies series, I'd keep all 3 lefties on the roster. I don't wanna see Howard or Utley facing a righty late in a game EVER. So for the first round, at least, my roster would be: Pitchers(12): Bush, Gagne, Gallardo, McClung, Mota, Parra, Sabathia, Shouse, Stetter, Suppan, Torres, Villanueva. Catchers(2): Kendall, Rivera Infielders(7): Counsell, Durham, Fielder, Hall, Hardy, Nelson, Weeks Outfielders(4): Braun, Cameron, Gwynn, Hart My last spot went to Nelson, and that's only assuming Branyan can't go. I just like having a lefty with some power coming off the bench.
  12. My feelings have been really strange. I'm calm when I watch the Brewers, pretty much no matter what happens. But when I sit down and watch Gameday rooting for the Cubs/Marlins, I get REALLY nervous. And throughout the season whenever the Brewers lost, I'd be ticked. But over the last couple weeks, it has totally changed. I am able to, strangely, take the losses better. But anyways, I just can't wait for tomorrow's game to get here. On a side note, who is starting for the Cubs tomorrow? I've seen both Guzman and Zambrano. Anyone know for sure?
  13. I was drinking a glass of milk while watching this episode, and when Phyllis said "I wonder what people like about me... Probably my jugs!" I about spit it everywhere. I thought it was a great episode. I thought Dwight hammering fruit into the vending machine was classic, along with him and Andy wearing the trash bags trying to lose extra weight.
  14. Well... Volstad is not very sharp so far. Come on Marlins!!
  15. 3 games are a LOT different than 162. A player can get lucky over 3 games and hit well. Heck, if Escobar gets 12 ABs the rest of the way, 3 hits puts him at .312 for the season. So does that mean he's a .300+ hitter? No. So I just don't understand how you saying that you can't expect him to hit .328. Hardy is a big bat missing from the lineup. So why not try the unknown?
  16. It's 3 games! Does it really matter if he does/doesn't hit .328 in those 3 games? I just don't really see how numbers are relevant when looking at 3 games. In my opinion, missing Hardy is a big blow. And maybe you can catch lightning in a bottle and have Escobar play well for 3 days. I'd rather have Counsell/Escobar than Counsell/Lamb. At least the former is much better on D.
  17. I guess I agree with Lou. I respect the integrity of the playoff race, but my team's goal is still to win the World Series. I could care less about the integrity of the game if it put my players at a higher risk of injury. I'm sure if it's pouring during a game in Milwaukee, he will do the same thing.
  18. First off, I believe Lou said he would be playing a similar line up tomorrow. Secondly, why in the world would any manager play their starters in those conditions when a playoff spot was wrapped up? If the Brewers were in that position, fans would want the manager's head if he played the starters.
  19. This is not good. Lou is not going to play or pitch any of the regulars with all the rain they are getting.
  20. Why would that be a perfect situation? Don't we want the Cubs/Harden to beat the Mets? If they are forced to play a make up game, I can guarantee that not only will the Cubs play their back ups, but none of their pitchers will pitch either. Wouldn't it just be better if Harden pitched 5 shut out innings, and the Cubs lead 5-0 when the rains come?
  21. I don't see how rain on Thursday can benefit us at all. If they play through the rain Chicago isn't going to risk any injuries, so their bench players will be playing and Harden will not be pitching. This means Harden gets pushed back to Friday, Dempster Saturday, and Lilly Sunday. No more Marquis. If the game is postponed, the same thing will happen. Harden will pitch Friday, and if the game is made up Monday, the Cubs will play their scrubs. And I don't think they would hold Dempster off until Monday just for the fact that the game may not be played. I'm praying the teams are looking at the weather and try to get the game in during the day. If they get the game in Thursday and Friday and Saturdays games are postponed, that's fine with me. But they NEED to get Thursday's game in, preferably with Harden pitching.
  22. Last I checked, CIN isn't exactly an easy series. They have ripped the rest of the teams in the playoff chase this month. 3.5 back with 6/7 to go is quite a big climb. I just don't see how being worried about a team 2.5 behind us with 6 to go is even necessary. If they win the WC, then neither the Brewers/Mets deserve to win it.
  23. Ha, that's funny. At one point they were showing Bart Starr, I believe, and Kapler was standing behind him. I said to my dad "Man, that guy behind Starr could be a Gabe Kapler double. He looks exactly like him!" I don't think they mentioned any of them being there on the broadcast last night, and if they did I missed it.
  24. What was Trenni's report on him yesterday? I was doing something else, and I thought I heard her say that in his last simulated game he threw 5 innings and 75 pitches. Is it a for sure fact he will come back in a relief roll? 5 innings is better than 3/5s of our rotation can seem to give us right now. I know Melvin said earlier that if he came back, he wouldn't be a starter. But that was a couple weeks ago when we had a "healthy" Sheets, a 5-0 in the month of August Suppan, and Parra could at least make it through a couple innings without getting shelled. If it was me, my rotation for the remaining games would be: Bush, Gallardo, Sabathia, Sheets, McClung, Bush.
  25. JJHardy7's comments made me think of when I was younger and my parents and I were driving to Florida and "The Storm of the Century" was rolling through Tennessee. Tennessee was hit with a couple inches of show, and being from Wisconsin we thought it was nothing. We pull off to get gas in Chatanooga, and people were walking around with huge amounts of clothes on (it was probably around 45 degrees) and many had plastic bags taped over their shoes. After we got gas, we tried to get back onto the interstate, but all the on ramps were closed and had barrels blocking them. There were still cars on the interstate, so my dad decided to whip it around the barrels and onto the interstate. The interstate was pretty much bare... and thankfully we were able to do that because about an hour later we heard on the radio that there were no more hotels in Chatanooga and the interstate would probably be closed for at least another day.
