  1. The idea is good, but you will need more than Cordell fetch a guy like Hand. The guy has been awesome the last year and a half. 1.8 WAR in 2016, 1.2 WAR already this year. I mean, Will Smith got a top 100 prospect for us. If the Padres want to move Hand, they'll get more than that. The main issue will be that all the contending teams will line up for the guy - and you're talking bidding war at that point.
  2. Draft results to date: 1 - Tuesday, May 30 - Minnesota Twins - Kyle Wright, RHP, Vanderbilt 2 - Wednesday, May 31 - Cincinnati Reds - Brendan McKay, LHP/1B, Louisville 3 - Thursday, June 1 - San Diego Padres - On the clock 4 - Friday, June 2 - Tampa Bay Rays 5 - Monday, June 5 - Atlanta Braves 6 - Tuesday, June 6 - Oakland Athletics 7 - Wednesday, June 7 - Arizona Diamondbacks 8 - Thursday, June 8 - Philadelphia Phillies 9 - Friday, June 9 - Milwaukee Brewers
  3. With the second pick in the 2017 draft, the Cincinnati Reds select Brendan McKay, LHP/1B, Louisville. The San Diego Padres are on the clock. Please make your selection by EOD on Thursday, June 1. The Reds pick of McKay was a pretty tight one - with Hunter Greene a close second. Here's a breakdown of the voting: McKay - 8 Greene - 6 Lewis - 1 Gore - 1
  4. The Minnesota Twins select RHP Kyle Wright from Vanderbilt with the top pick in the draft. The Cincinatti Reds are on the clock. You have until the end of the day on Wednesday, May 31, to make your selection for Cincy. The results for Minnesota's pick are as follows: Wright - 7 votes McKay - 4 votes Greene - 3 votes Lewis - 2 votes Carleson - 1 votes
  5. 4. 1 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 4 BB, 6K, Game was in Nashville. The end result - one earned run - was nice. But lots of baserunners.
  6. Encouraging items about Phillips: - He is hitting .312 at home, and .309 on the road. OPS is 1.056 at home vs .942 on the road. So his performance has not been just a Colorado Springs thin air bump. He's been pretty consistent no matter where he has played. - He's hitting .310 vs a PCL average of .272. - He's got 20 walks - with a walk rate of 11.1% Not saying Phillips is going to be a star or anything - just nice to see the solid numbers being put up. He still strikes out too much (30% K rate), and his BABIP is really high (.406). I'm holding out hope he can be a productive major leaguer.
  7. http://www.canoebay.com I've known a couple of people that loved this place. More on the high end scale of things (cost and feature wise).
  8. Jacob Barnes is now over 50 IP in his career - so he is ineligible as a prospect going forward.
  9. Community Mock Draft starts today! viewtopic.php?f=69&t=35194 Come make the first pick in this year's amateur draft (if you are so inclined). Twins are picking today.
  10. Are cluster headaches and migraines different things? Yes, they are different, even if they have many similar symptoms. Ultimately, they both suck. I have had migraines throughout my life, but I've known cluster headache sufferers. Cluster headache sufferers - from what I understand - often endure a series of really painful headaches - as noted, that can last days or even weeks. Migraine sufferers have the headaches, but also get disoriented, have blurred vision, nausea, and a variety of other symptoms. Migraines are more common - and the severity is really all over the board. Both often get lumped together - and its understandable as they share a lot of the same symptoms.
  11. Dear BF.net members, if you want to participate in our Community Mock Draft - head over to the Draft Thread and enjoy. viewtopic.php?f=69&t=35194 The process is pretty simple - anyone who wants to participate can head over to the above thread and make one pick a day (starting Tuesday, May 30). The player selected most often will be that team's pick. The next day everyone can come back and vote for the next team - and so on and so on - until reach the Brewers at the 9th pick (on June 12). We don't vote on weekends. You don't have to vote everyday if you aren't available - so don't let that stop you. So head on over to our community draft thread in the next few days and check it out. If you want to vote - the Twins are on the board. You can vote on their selection at any time. Also, check out all the great draft information in the forum. Lots of great discussion about who might be the Brewers pick. Thanks.
  12. I want to remind people that we are doing another Community Mock Draft - just like last season. viewtopic.php?f=69&t=35194 The Twins are on the clock - pick must be in by Tuesday, May 30. So when you are ready, head on over and get your pick in. Thanks.
  13. If someone wants to start a thread about Braun and his PED use (and the entire ramifications surrounding it), please go ahead. But please don't hijack this thread to go down a path that has been well, well tread on these boards. Thanks.
  14. Maybe you believe this would happen, but I don't. I don't think Mark A is an impetuous man who would risk his investment. He hired Stearns to do exactly what he is doing. He will stick to the course. While I'm excited about the offense thus far, I am skeptical of the team as a whole maintaining their success this year. The pitching just isn't good enough - despite a solid offense. And our defense hasn't been particularly good. We have some streaky hitters as well - and as we are seeing - we will be vulnerable to rough stretches (but also some good ones as well). I just see more rough than good. Makes sense. I think our pitching needs far more improvement than just a trade or two. So it makes little sense to unload prospects to improve a club that just isn't that good. I think we will be stay the course. Bring up Woodruff at the break. See how Guerra, Davies, Nelson and all the others finish out the season. Maybe in the offseason look at free agents - or perhaps add a decent starter via trade (particularly by taking on salary). I disagree. Mark A hired a guy to do a job a specific way. You don't make hundreds of millions of dollars by radically deviating from your strategy to make a long shot play at success. That's like playing roulette with your retirement fund. Building a winning team is a methodical and specific process. I have to believe Mark A is in full support of that process. All this comes with caveats. I mean, if the team has a .600 winning percentage at the all-star break, that's an entirely different story than if they are at .500. Stearns and Mark A would be foolish not to look to shore up the team's pitching (or whatever) if they are one of the best teams in the league.
  15. Cordell has a .740 OPS on the road this year. 1.088 OPS at Colorado Springs. My interest in the guy is piqued when see his overall numbers, but then I temper things when I dig a little deeper. He's an athletic player with a lot of skills, but I'm not sure he does quite enough of anything that well to be a starter. The Corey Hart comp is interesting. I think Corey had a better hit tool, but Cordell is probably a better defensive player. It will be interesting to see what happens to him - it might just be him getting a chance - which I don't know will come in Milwaukee due to the crowded OF situation. But who knows.
  16. Hader getting mauled. 3 innings, 8 earned runs.

  19. Sox Drop Series Opener Noriega, Wren, Cordell record hits in 5-0 defeat. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Tim Dillard struck out two Isotopes in his two innings of relief Friday night.(Photo: Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Not a pretty outing for the Sky Sox on Friday. The team’s batters managed only three hits - all singles - as they were shut out 5-0 in Albuquerque. On the mound, Josh Hader was roughed up, surrendering four runs in 4.1 innings of work. The struggling leftie gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out five while taking the lose. Sky Sox batters were stifled by Isotope pitchers - particularly starter Barry Enright, who gave up only a pair of hits in six innings. Kyle Wren (1-4), Ryan Cordell (1-4) and Gabriel Noriega (1-2) had the only Sky Sox hits. Hader has gone from mediocre to out right struggling thus far in 2018. 20. Sky Sox Fall, Earn Series Split Ryan Cordell drove in the lone run in first inning in 4-1 loss. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Ryan Cordell recorded the lone RBI in the Sky Sox 4-1 loss in El Paso. (Photo: Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Colorado Springs was held to just one run on seven hits on Thursday in a 4-1 lose to El Paso. Sky Sox batters could not come through when they had the chance, going 0-8 with runners in scoring position and leaving nine runners on.
