  1. The game is too close. Wang won't play unless we're a touchdown ahead or behind.
  2. Well, we need to have a bullpen of seven guys, not five. Henderson and Wang have to play at some point. It's ridiculous to have two guys who aren't playing.
  3. It would be nice to see Segura hit the ball out of the infield once and a while.
  4. Beltre has 376. He's averaged 31 a season for the last four years. He just turned 35 yesterday, so he'd need to average 25 a year for five years. If he stays in Texas... perhaps.
  5. I wonder if Viagra is okay for baseball players. If there was ever a 'performance enhancing' drug, that would be it.
  6. I have not watched much baseball this year (spring training or regular season), but what is the feeling about Overbay for those who have seen him? I can look at his stats and see some concerns, but the sample size is so small. I hate to say the guy is washed up based upon a few weeks. Again, for those who have watched Lyle, how's he looking at the plate? Is he looking slow? Or he hitting the ball hard and just running into some tough luck? Overbay had a .586 OPS after the all-star break last year. At 37, you just have to wonder what he has left. Thanks.
  7. It's odd looking back at the guys you get excited about (and those you didn't). In 2011, I really liked Lindor. I was also high on Sonny Gray and Kolten Wong, but I thought the Jungmann pick was pretty good. In 2006, I was hoping Lincecum would drop. Teams didn't like his size and delivery. In 2005, I really, really wanted Ryan Zimmerman. I thought he'd be another Scott Rolen. I also liked Pelfrey. Funny thing is that I don't remember much about Braun - just that he had a (deserved) rep as a bad fielder. Interesting note - 3 of the top 6 picks in the 2004 draft never made it to the majors (Kyle Sleeth, Chris Lubanski and Ryan Harvey).
  8. I haven't watched any games this year, but I saw the highlights from Saturday's game. I have to admit that K-Rod had some wicked action on those strikeouts to close out the game. The ball was just slightly tailing off right as it reached the plate. Pretty sweet. If he pitches like that, he deserves to close.
  9. Peavy was all over the place for one. Second is the reward of getting the 4th run isn't worth the risk of running yourself out of the inning and 3rd since you already tried to steal once in the at bat, they were probably aware of it and so Peavy was probably quicker to the plate. I meant, why try and steal in that situation. Frustrating we have a runner at 3rd and leave him.
  10. Excited to see the link report again!!! Thank you to everyone who helps out. I've been following it for years. It's great. Thanks again.
  11. Thank you. I appreciate the info.
  12. I'm worried this is something that will linger for him. Hopefully not. But if he needs a couple of weeks to regain strength, they should just DL him for a bit. I'd rather him miss two weeks, and come back at 100%, than have him be 80-90% all year.
  13. Who would you rather have: Prince Fielder or Jeff Francoeur? Here's a heated debate about the subject: viewtopic.php?p=136248#p136248
  14. Questions about our AAA roster: - How many 30+ old versatile career minor league vets do we need. Falu, Orr, Velez - even Elian Herrera is almost 30. That's four guys who really have no chance on helping the big league club except as a little used back up type. Weird and wasteful. - Stephen Parker - a .238 hitter in two AAA seasons. No power. What do we see in this guy? Honestly, I don't know much about him, so maybe he brings something special to the table. I just don't see it. And how much will he even play? - Kevin Mattison - a .230 hitter in two AAA seasons. He strikes out a ton (138k in 334 ABs last year). What's the attraction? Is it the facial hair? Otherwise, the club needs to be grooming players for 2015. 1B will be open again. 3B could be open as well if we don't pick up A-Ram's option. And we need to see how Scooter and Khris Davis progress. What that in mind, we should do the following: - Let Morris play everyday at 1B. It's time for him to step up and set himself up as the team's 2015 1B (or not). - Let Rogers play 3B everyday. He needs to face advanced hitting (and get lots of reps at 3B) to set himself up as the possible 1B or 3B in 2015. - Let Taylor Green play everyday at 2B (or DH). After missing all of 2013, he has to get reps. If he does well, he can potentially be in the picture for 3B next year (maybe even 2B). - Gindl needs to play everyday to be ready to take over in RF or LF if a player is hurt or falters. - Kentrail Davis should be at Nashville playing everyday. Redoing AA at his age isn't helping him or the club. - I'd like Jungmann at AAA. If the club believes Hellweg or Pena is destined to go to the pen, then move them there now and let Jungmann start. Otherwise, move Fiers there.
  15. Here's a look at Aiken by minorleagueball.com http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/3/31/5564478/2014-mlb-draft-profile-brady-aiken-lhp-california-hs The author loves him.
  16. Trading Segura now doesn't make sense. As many have pointed out, he's cheap and there's no obvious replacement for him in the near future. And the team is trying to win now. Downgrading the position would be counter productive. If we have a potential replacement in a few years, then you can consider moving him. But now makes no sense.
