  1. Lets Go Cardinals. August 17th will be our last day in second place.
  2. With the pitching match-ups the way they are, the Cards will have a very hard time winning more than 1 game in this series. The Brewers not getting one game against St. Louis is really hard to swallow right now. They are not very good.
  3. Great post, Geno. I agree 100%. I don't understand this attitude that so many of us fans have. That "if you told me that the Crew would be in 1st on Aug......blah,blah,blah" attitude. Sure, we're all happy that the Brewers have been in 1st all this time. But if someone had told me in June that the Crew would BLOW a large lead by mid August (and frankly we're lucky it hasn't happened earlier) my reaction would have been, "Typical Brewer season." I guees I believe in baby steps and didn't judge this team by its first 34 games. As a Brewer fan, I am happy we are in first place on August 17th. All that tells me is that through the first 110-120 games of the season, we are the best in the division. If we don't win the division this year, will I be disappointed?? Of course I will. But I am not going to sit here and bash a first place team when this team hasn't been in contention for a legitamate pennant in years. I can be unhappy about how the team is playing at the moment, but IF we can turn things around here soon I would rather be in the position we are now compared to being in 3rd place 4 or 5 games back.
  4. I think alot of it comes down to pitching and our approach at the plate. The more our pitching struggles, the more the offensive players feel like they need to do more at the plate. It looks like every guy is up there trying to hit a home run and get us a run with one swing of the bat. I think it is as simple as that. We simply haven't been playing the game the right way. Our approach at the plate is somewhat comical at this point. BUT all it takes is a game to swing things in the other direction. All I know is last year we werent' in this position so I am going to do my best not to complain. Season ended today, we are in the playoffs and if we dont' make the playoffs this year, it will always be beneficial to experience meaningful games in August and September.
  5. This board needs to do something to help this team win the Divison. With baseball being a very superstitious sport, I think I am going to change some things in my life for the next month and a half to help the Brewers win the division. #1. I am not going to say another bad word about Ned Yost until the season is over #2. I am going to make sure I always put my left shoe on before I put on my right shoe.
  6. Seriously, why is Ned Yost STILL our manager? What has he done to deserve it?
  7. Good news is we are in first place on August 17th....I will take it. Doesn't matter what has happened over the last 2 months...we are still in first place.
  8. We have to score some runs tonight....don't we?? Lets atleast get one back in the bottom of the first.
  9. 1. Skip Bayless 2. Chris Berman 3. Rosie O'Donnell 4. Carlos Zambrano
  10. I would be very surprised if Linebrink was on the team next year. I think T-Bow is the closer if we lose Cordero.
  11. Saturday and Sunday games are at standing room only, but I would expect low 30,000 Tuesday through Thursday.
  12. Like clockwork....base hit Tampa

  15. Powell just talked about this during the last game and seemed to have the same opinion I do. Teams are hot until they aren't. Then they slump until they start winning again. The last time the Brewers had a horrible stretch, they immediately went on to win 9 of 10. Other than the impact personnel changes have on a team, you aren't really going to see any kind of streaks that can't be explained by random chance. It would be more surprising if teams didn't have some bunching of wins and loses over a 162 game season. Couldn't have said it better. If momentum played such a huge role in wins and loses then there is no way the Brewers would have lost that game last Sunday, after the dramatic come from behind win on Saturday night and the big early lead on Sunday.
  16. Personally I am so tired of hearing about the 24-10 start. Why are the majority of media and fans so stuck on the first 34 games of the season....just because that is the highest games we were ever over .500? I am more concerned with the fact that we are 60-55 with 57 games left to play. So far, in my opinion the Brewers are right where they should be and need to be to have a realistic chance to secure a playoff spot. As a Brewer fan, I can't really ask for anything more. I am so excited for the rest of the season to see how it all plays out. 1/2 game lead heading into the 2nd weekend in August is pretty exciting. It starts tonight with Houston, it is time to start winning big series. And this series is as big as they come. I expect the season to swing around a little bit starting tonight while the team makes their push towards a division title.
  17. Atleast we are not the Dodgers. They have been shut out in consecutive games in Cincinatti and are falling out of the race in the West.
  18. Won't a 2 game lead seem like a huge cushion at the rate things have been going?
  19. It sure is nice to see Cappy pitching like this. A win tonight would be huge.
  20. We will not have a lead this whole series BUT we will win the division. The season will start to turn around on Friday. The good news is, the Cubs are in serious trouble without Soriano.
  21. Luke, what do you think about Will heading out to NDSU?
  22. I told many people this, but I will be surprised if the Brewers ever have a lead in this series. My prediction a 2-4 road trip with the Cubs going 3-4. 1/2 game lead heading into next week. I still think we will win the division.
  23. Luke, I know you and like you a lot, but you are gonna look awfully silly when the Brewers win the divsion (please don't take that personal). Considering the circumstances, with the Brewers being in first place in August, just try to enjoy it. On a side note, I'm happy for your brother that Will Ryan signed on at NDSU....
  24. The NY, Chicago and LA markets are a small portion of the overall market. But there are also people who were born and raised in NY, Chicago and LA living all over the United States. You can just look at the market in those specific cities.
  25. Endaround, I am stating that I want Gallardo to finish the season in the roation and not worry about his innings. I am just proposing the question that do we know for sure the Brewers are going to stick to their original plan? Also, we have no idea that if we extend Gallardo to 30+ innings this year, he will get injured in future seasons. Comparing him to Prior is just one example. I know there are many others but I'm also sure there are plenty of young guys who didn't have their innings limited that never did get hurt in furture seasons.
