  1. Was the car at all damaged when found? Does the card have anything do do with the man's death?
  2. I'm going to guess that even though he went to the restaurant and left by himself, he saw his wife at the restaurant, and she was cheating on him. She didn't see him at all. He saw his wife just as he took his first bite. He became so distraught, he went home and killed himself. Edit: even though it's a good guess, I know I am wrong. I re-read the posts and know this can't be true (from the clue that no one he knew was there).
  3. Was he depressed?
  4. was his wife/significant other at the restaurant?
  5. Guy went into a mint, stole a plate so he could make his own money, got shot by a security guard before he got away.
  6. Yep, that happened to me. I was told growing up that I was a direct descendant of a brother of John Adams. Well, after doing my research, I found that that is not true. I did find out, however, that a part of my family came here in the 1650s, were some of the first people to free their slaves, and had an active part in the underground railroad. I also found out that farther back, in the 1500s, my family were a part of the English nobility, and the roots do go back to William the Conqueror. Another part of the family was royalty in a German principality, before Germany was unified.
  7. I figured this is as good of a place as any to ask about this... My wife and I are planning on taking some of my birthday money and our Christmas money to buy a camcorder. We don't need something that fancy, and am trying to stay under $500. I've looked into the different formats available...miniDV, Digital8, DVD-RW, Hard Drive, and Flash/memory card. I think I've ruled out DVD-RW and Digital8. I like the idea of not having a tape, so I'm pretty much ruling out miniDV, too...which leaves hard drive and flash. Of all of the formats, which does everyone think is best? If this helps, I would like to edit videos on my computer, and burn them to DVD. I also want something that will make it easy to upload videos to YouTube and to blogs (I'm going to video journal our next vacation, and may upload them to a blog). We will use it to video tape social gatherings, vacations, and our future children (and current nephews).
  8. I'm a big fan of going for it when a team is between their own 45 and their PK's field goal range (opponent's 30-35 for a lot of kickers). If team A has the ball at team B's 40, why punt? Chances are the punt will go into the end zone, resulting in a touch back, and a net gain of 20 yards. I really believe that most teams should go for it on 4th when it's 4th and 7 or less (average NFL play is over 6 yards per play).
  9. I'm supposed to head to Eau Claire on Wednesday. It's supposed to snow up there tomorrow, down here both days, so I'm not sure when the heck I'll get out of Madison.
  10. Any clue how Tuesday and Wednesday are shaping up? The NWS indicated that it could be another round of 6+ inches of snow, which could really screw up my travel plans.
  11. Now, we're under ANOTHER winter storm watch, and a wind chill watch...this time for Saturday night and into Sunday. Forecasts call for near blizzard conditions, with nasty wind chills.
  12. My wife just called me. A Madison Metro bus got stuck picking her up, now they are walking to a different stop.
  13. I just read through a good chunk of last winter's thread. It's amazing how similar the Decembers were...a couple big snows with some minor/mid-major snows sprinkled in between.
  14. Classic scene from "The Simpsons" (can't find the video)... Kent Brockman: But first! Let's check the death count from the killer storm bearing down on us like a shotgun full of snow. Weatherman: Well, Kent, as of now the death count is zero. But it _is_ready to shoot right up. Kent: Oh my God. [shakes fist at heaven] Damn you snow! I feel like that watching the news sometimes.
  15. For a winter storm warning that doesn't begin until 9 PM in Madison, there are sure a lot of closings for this evening. Why does Blackhawk Tech have to close at 5? Why are all 7 PM activities in Sun Prairie canceled? I don't quite get it.
  16. I make a really good dish where I take a pork loin and wrap it in bacon, fry it so the bacon sticks together, and cook it in the oven. It is amazing. Also, when I go to Iowa in the summer, I go to a store that sells turkey breasts wrapped in bacon and they are grillable. Fantastic! Bacon makes everything better.
  17. I walked into the teacher's lounge at school today, and it smelled like bacon. I instantly thought of this thread.
  18. Seeing that someone in the NWS wrote "Bring it on" in their discussion makes me believe that this isn't going to be a dud like our last couple of big storms have been (8-10 after Thanksgiving, we get 1.5...8-10 last Tuesday, we get 6.5...yes, those are duds). Watch, we get more than predicted... I'm sort of watching out for next week's potential snow, too. I've read that we could have a decent snow from anytime Monday night through Wednesday. A lot of people will probably be traveling Tuesday or Wednesday.
  19. Madison's digital TV line up has a fairly new channel...27-2. It's the Retro TV Network. It has all of these TV shows that I remember as a kid. I have tried to watch some of the shows...and they are just plain awful. Also, I love the intros to some of the "action" shows. They all show highlights of some action scenes from different episodes. All of them do that.
  20. Here we go again...(although they said the track of Thursday's storm is still uncertain) http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/fxc/mkx/wx/File.png Edit: They way I posted this pic makes it change with what the website has...
  21. Can someone explain to me how "It's Cold Outside" is a Christmas song? It's about a guy trying to get a girl to stay at his house longer, and the girl being reluctant but talking herself into it.
  22. The roads suck, but it's not snowing that hard in Madison right now. I have seen the sun peeking through a couple times today, as well. It's hard to say how much we actually have, but I'd put estimates in the 5-6 range. Looking at the radar, it looks like this thing may be over sooner than later.
  23. Well, Madison schools closed today, and that doesn't happen very often at all. The news this AM said we only had 3-4 inches, but the NWS said 6-8 inches so far. Also, last night at the very end of the 10:00 news, they said the model changed and the heavier snow would be farther south than originally forecasted. Stay safe out there.
  24. I was born in Iowa my family's allegiance is split amongst the Twins, Cubs, and Cardinals. We moved to Wisconsin in 1982, and my parents got into the lottery for playoff/series tickets and won. They were hooked on the team and became fans. They taught me how to say "Go Brewers" before I was 2, and I grew up a Brewers fan. The best part about them getting to go to the playoffs and World Series was that they took my great grandfather, who had played professional baseball back in the 1930s (for the Cards), and was perhaps the biggest baseball fan I ever knew.
  25. Looks like we will have another shot of 1-3 inches again tomorrow night, but this has me interested (from the NWS)... ACCUMULATING SNOW IS LIKELY SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. STRONG LOW PRESSURE TRACKING ACROSS THE MIDWEST MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY WILL HAVE TO BE MONITORED FOR THE POTENTIAL OF BRINGING WINTER STORM CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN WISCONSIN.
