  1. This is my favorite quote from the story on ESPN... "We want Manny back, but we feel we are negotiating against ourselves," Dodgers owner Frank McCourt said in a statement. "When his agent finds those 'serious offers' from other clubs, we'll be happy to restart the negotiations." Obviously, McCourt knows the ball is in their court. If Manny wants to play this year, it will have to be with the Dodgers. I'm wondering if clubs are thinking they don't want to put up with him playing when he wants and all the other antics he pulls.
  2. I'm disappointed that for the second week in a row, it's not a new episode. 30 Rock is new, however, so all is almost well.
  3. The ads are back this morning.
  4. GREAT DANE'S BRAT & BACON PRETZEL BURGER A one-third pound USDA choice ground beef patty and a one-quarter pound bratwurst patty grilled with caramelized onions and topped with applewood smoked bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles and tomatoes. Served on a pretzel roll with a side of Peck's Pilsner mustard.
  5. So lately, I have had a very strange smell coming out of my car. It smells like celery (strange, I know). It only happens when I start the car and when the engine is cold, and normally goes away after a couple minutes. About a month ago, I had a coolant leak from the reservoir, so I had that replaced and had a coolant system flush as well. I'm thinking maybe coolant got somewhere it shouldn't have, and is burning off when I start the car. Any ideas?
  6. On many occasions, I agree. However, when I do it myself, I am only using 25% of the labor cost of a normal line (there is always one person for every four or so lines), so they should give us a discount for not using their labor. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. I'll help... It is the second month of 2009. How are 2010 models of cars already be out? Along those same lines, how come Madden is always one year ahead. Why will Madden 2010 come out this year?
  8. Your body was very similar to the one that hit Gmail last spring. I know it sent it twice from mine, but the first time it sent to the first half of my contacts and the second half the second time. After I changed my password, it didn't happen again. It's eerily similar to the Gmail hack...which is now fixed.
  9. From what I read on my Gmail hack was it probably wasn't from my end, rather Google's. It happened to a lot of Gmail users, from what I understand. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea what the body of the e-mail said?
  10. The same thing happened to my Gmail account last year...it really sucked.
  11. I would LOVE to have a talk with your grandpa. That sounds like an incredible story.
  12. No it's not!!! Remember, UW has a hockey and football team. Hockey games are mighty fun! Not knowing where you live, the decision may come down to where you want to live during college. Do you want to live in Madison, or Milwaukee? Living in Madison during college was great...and it's even better now that I'm out of college. I lived in Milwaukee for a couple years, and didn't like it as much. But that is me. I like the smaller city that surrounds a couple of lakes. Another thing to take into consideration is what kind of experience you want to have. UW is huge, there is no doubt about that. However, as you progress in your college career, it gets a lot smaller. There are tons of chances to meet people and to get to experience a lot of things at UW (I'm sure Marquette has a lot of these same things, too). When it comes down to decision time, you will know.
  13. The Flight of the Conchords concert in Madison sold out in less than an hour. The two shows in Milwaukee are down to single seats only. We really wanted to see them.
  14. I have a question about Turbo Tax... Last year, we were above the income threshold to file for free (above $30k or something like that), and I have a lot of deductions, so the basic didn't cut it...I had to spend $30 to file my taxes, which was fine. I'm in the same situation this year, so I was thinking about buying Turbo Tax deluxe, which runs around $60. If I buy it, do I have to pay to buy next year's version (or pay for an update)? I sure hope they wouldn't scam people by making them pay a lot of money every year for updated software.
  15. I am about to do my taxes, and I came up with a question... Do we have to count the $1200 stimulus check we got from the government last spring as income from 2008? I didn't think we did. I thought that money was not going to be taxed, and it wouldn't add to my taxable income from 2008. I tried looking this up, but finding answers to tax questions is near impossible.
  16. I have the apparatus for making this, but haven't used it yet. I heard they are super good, so maybe that's what I'll have for dinner tonight.
  17. I took my car in for some repairs. They fixed what they were supposed to, but now I have a squeaky belt, and it wasn't squeaky before I took it in. I hope it just had some fluid spilled on it and it goes away. I don't want to have to take it in again...
  18. I was born in December, right around Christmas. I actually like winter, normally (the past two years are really trying to change that). I think as I get older, I like it less and less because it affects me negatively much more now than when I was a kid. Mentally, it is taking a toll this year, big time. That being said, I still like a good snowfall, and I cheer on temps like we had last week, if for anything, it makes a great story to tell. I like summer, just not when it's 95 and humid. I think I like it more than winter, but not by much. Once again, I like it less and less as I get older because I don't get to enjoy it as much as I did when I was a kid, or in college (if I get a teaching job soon, I'll love it once again). So, do answer your initial question...I was born in winter and like winter, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite season.
  19. We stopped by that store too, and I was disappointed that they were only offering discounts up to 30% (only 10% on big ticket items). The way I look at it, the prices were probably already about 5-10% higher, so there really weren't any good deals at all. I was hoping to go in and score something for a ridiculous price. I may stop by in another week or so to see if the discounts are any better.
  20. It may have hit a flock of birds, which would explain how both engines were taken out. Amazing that everyone got to shore safely.
  21. They could have left through the emergency exit, and no one would have seen them.
  22. They were the only people in the theater?
  23. Is the gate a starting gate?
  24. I was reading the forecast discussion at the MKE NWS, and it indicated that one of the forecast model has predicted higher amounts than the 5-8 that is currently predicted. Although they said it doesn't appear likely right now, it could be a possibility.
  25. Was the card a memory card, either from a camera or a computer?
