  1. I hate shoe shopping. I have feet that are difficult to fit, and no one ever has shoes in my size that I like. It's not like I have Shaq sized feet either--size 12. Are there a lot of guys out there who wear size 7, 8 and such? Because there are a lot of those, and not a lot of 12's. Also, there are certain brands that I like better than others, and it seems as if my favorite brand stopped making shoes and is just doing apparel now-a-days.
  2. Any of the Wisconsin Lottery commericals on the radio, especially the song...
  3. I have seen the play, and I didn't understand it. They made a movie out of it, so rent that first, see if you like it. If you do, go see the play. If I had my choice right now, I'd see Spam-a-lot (saw it in Madison).
  4. Madison has dodged a bullet this afternoon, but there is a storm with a tornado warning heading right towards us.
  5. We had this problem with the heat in our old place. We put covers on the floor vents, and closed up the ceiling vents in the warm parts of the house to push the air to the cold parts. I'm guessing the same thing could be done with AC.
  6. Great Ormelife, is without trouble http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2128/2547125369_4be9a354cb_m.jpg
  7. I'd rather have all this rain. Everyone is affected by the snow. 10 inches of rain doesn't shut things down, but 6 inches of snow does. The rain doesn't stay on every street until (if you're lucky) the plows come by. And, after the rain, I don't have to bundle up...I still get to wear shorts.
  8. Not today...I have an event there tomorrow, though. It's outdoors, too. We were up in Waunakee today, and there were some very strange cloud formations. I saw clouds going straight up, straight down, coming from a couple directions at once...it was pretty crazy. No hail, though.
  9. I was thinking about how they went 8-1 at home, but couldn't pull it out last night. I'm wondering if the reason for the success at home during that stretch was because Yost didn't have to make a lot of the decisions that may have an impact on the outcome of the game. Yeah, there were some close games, but there were also a lot of blow outs and non-save situations. Also, if I remember correctly, a lot of the close games were decided in the 7th or 8th, and the set-up was sort of a non-factor. Also, the starters went deep into games in 7 games or so, so that reduced the amount of bullpen management Yost could have done. Last nights game bothers me on so many fronts. First off, I don't understand why the team's best centerfielder wasn't in the game in the later innings. Cameron is a gold glove winner. I remember last year (and a couple times this year) Yost pulled Braun for a "better" defender late in games. Why wasn't that done last night? I think Cameron gets the first ball, and has a chance at the second. Also, I think I may have a video game mentality when it comes to the use of a pitching staff, but I believe in using as few pitchers in a game as possible. Villy can be a starter, and we've all seen that. So I was sort of under the assumption that when he moved to the bullpen, he'd be a multi-inning guy. Why couldn't he pitch 2 innings and then hand it to the closer? Last night also proves to me that the roles bullpen guys have are meaningless. I hate the closer, and the set-up guy. I believe anyone should be able to come in at any time.
  10. Realistically...I'm guessing 3-3. I think they'll go 2-1 in Colorado and 1-2 in Houston. I'm still scarred by Sheets' outing a couple years ago when he got shelled at Coors because the effect of his curve ball was limited due to thin air. I think we caught Houston at the exact right moment over the weekend. Their bats won't be so quiet at Orange Juice Park.
  11. When I first saw this, I didn't think there was a chance they would get it. But looking at the finalists...Rio, Tokyo, Madrid, and Chicago...I now think this is a possibility. London will host the 2012 summer games and Sochi, Russia will host the 2014 winter games, so I think the IOC would be reluctant to give Europe 3 consecutive Olympics. Bejing has this year's, so Tokyo has a shot since it's a ways off...but it would be Asia, Europe, Asia. Then there is Rio, who I think is the toughest competition for Chicago, I think. The biggest advantage to Rio is that South America has never hosted an Olympics. However, there is a very strong possibility (if not a definite one) that Rio will be hosting the 2014 World Cup finals, which outside of the Olympics, is the biggest stage in international sports (and I'd even argue that the World Cup is bigger). I would definitely pursue an opportunity to go see some competitions. I was thinking, how cool would it be for the rowing to be held on the shores of Lake Mendota in Madison? It won't happen, sadly.
  12. The problem I see is that American car makers keep thinking that people will come back to the large gas guzzlers, and the foreign makers are making smaller, more fuel efficient cars. The American companies can't sell them, and the foreign makers can't make them fast enough. I think foreign makers adapt to the needs of Americans better than American makers do.
  13. Hmm....can you try to copy everything except for that file over? My guess is that it is just a song or some artwork. Should be easy to replace.
  14. Try following the directions on the link I put up above in a previous post. It worked perfectly when I did it.
  15. I think it is uber fitting that the President of the site that pays homage to 3TO was the one who met him. Could this be karma doing its magical work?
  16. I think a rattlesnake is one of the few creatures on earth that I never want to come in counter with.
  17. It's a good thing the puny victories thing is in blue, because a 67-29 run differential is so huge, you wouldn't know what would hit you.
  18. Yeah, I remember that vividly. I was a junior in high school and it was the night before my confirmation at church. Earlier that week, we had a German foreign exchange student arrive at our house. We told him about tornadoes and the sirens and what to do if the sirens blare. My window was open that night when I went to bed, not knowing that it was supposed to rain. I remember waking up to the sound of distant thunder. I laid in bed for a couple minutes, and then the tornado sirens went off. My first reaction was "Oh, poop" and adrenaline kicked in as I raced to the basement. On my way from my room to the basement, I noticed my father outside getting cushions off of the patio set. Hans, the German kid, had still not made it downstairs...he was asleep. We got him up and downstairs as well. I remember a constant roar as well as constant lighting. The next morning, my dad came in to wake me up so we could drive around town looking at the damage. I lived in Port Washington at the time. On the north side of town, there is a Sentry and there used to be a Burger King across the street. The cart corrals from Sentry ended up blown up against Burger King, and I think one made it up to Allen-Edmunds. Someone I knew had their trampoline end up 3 blocks away in a tree. Huge trees were knocked down all over town, crushing cars and garages. My house was without power for close to 24 hours. Somehow the church where confirmation was held still had power, so it still went on. A couple days after, we drove to West Bend. As we passed the airport on Hwy 33, there were probably a half-dozen planes flipped over and a couple hangers knocked down. We took a lot of pictures that day...
  19. Yeah, it's not so summer-like this morning. It was almost 70 when I went to bed last night, and now it's down to near 40. Burrrrr....
  20. I was going through SI.com's list of most recent no-hitters by team (there are only 2 teams with a longer drought than the Brewers...Cleveland and the Cubs). I get to the picture of Juan Nieves, and he's wearing a WHITE SOX uniform! Couldn't they dig up the pic that SI itself had in its magazine during the streak in 1987? Come on!
  21. I'll be on the grounds of the finish line...hanging around the brats or the horses (there is a horse show going on at the same time as Bratfest and the marathon finish tomorrow). Good luck!
  22. I remember a game the first year the Brewers were in the NL. He got a guy out to end an inning, and flexed his muscles towards the Brewers dugout. I've hated him since.
  23. Here's one... This happens pretty much as I fall asleep. I instantaneously go into a dream where I am doing something with my arms, like swinging a bat or a golf club or something, or I am running, jumping, falling, etc... As I do what ever action I am doing, my entire body twitches and I wake up. All the dreams are similar, and it only happens once per night. Does this happen to anyone else?
  24. What if the first player (I don't know tons of BJ terms) doesn't follow the book, but the other players all do, and it results in the dealer winning. How is that different from the 3b making that mistake?
