  1. So I'm about to leave to go get married today. What is the last thing I'm doing before I get married? Posting on Brewerfan.net. 99.9% probably don't care that I'm getting married, but I'm uber excited. Next time I post, I will be a married man. I will be finding a TV tonight to check the score too. Die hard I am...I'm off!
  2. Well, the first picture is from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "There are some that call me.....Tim?", which references to Tim Lincecum. I don't know the second pic.
  3. The win and the series. Two series wins in a row now on the road, and they were no hit in one of those games, and a winning road trip. Fantastic. I hope they win tomorrow, but I'm glad they appear to be back to winning baseball. Let's get out of Minnesota tomorrow with a win and back home to destroy the Giants and the Royals. Huge week coming up for the Crew.
  4. Oh boy, 2 singles against CoCo....
  5. He was last night too as the DH. I'm not worried...they showed his stats since coming off the DL...not good. I hope they can continue hitting the ball. I'm now convinced the no-hitter was a result of fantastic pitching, not our hitting, so let's keep the hitting going and take the series tonight.
  6. Hawing, just now when I went to reply, it said Re: re, and that wasn't me who did that... Anyways, about once a week, I receive a piece of mail from TDS Metrocom wanting me to switch to their phone service. The first line in the letter is "You've been receiving a lot of mail from us, and you still haven't switched to TDS Metrocom." No kidding I haven't. I don't have local phone service, so I can't switch. Since I haven't switched after receiving your first 100 letters this year, why would I do so after the 101st letter? Stop sending me letters...I'm not going to sign up for local phone service. Obviously, I don't want it.
  7. So, I've never seen an area under the "High Risk" category from the Storm Prediction Center, and now the entire state is High Risk. They also said that there is a good chance of a drecho forming. For those who do not know what a drecho is, it's nasty. They are storms that move really quickly, and have straight line winds well over 100 mph. Back when I was in high school, Port Washington (as well as most of Ozaukee, Washington, and Milwaukee counties) got hit with one in the middle of the night, and damage was very widespread and devastating. I'm also headed up north this afternoon. We should be up there before all of this starts, but I'm wondering if our cabin has a storm shelter. Guess I'll have to ask that question. Being the weather freak I am (and when I was really young, thunderstorms of all kind freaked me out), I'm a bit nervous about this system. I'm hoping it's all hype and we only get a few showers out of the deal.
  8. Looks like the Orlando Magic offered more money than Donovan would get from his new extension he just signed... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2888555
  9. As long as you can still play softball, does it matter? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm all about being happy, even if it means less money. I'm trying to be a teacher for crying outloud...not much money in that, but when I teach, I absolutely love it. I'm not telling you not to take the new job, but don't do it simply because of the extra money (which it sounds like you wouldn't do anyways).
  10. If I remember right, he wasn't necessarily moved into the closer's role, but was placed there after an injury. He wasn't a starter then one day a closer. He had some arm issues several years back and I think he missed significant time, like a whole season or something like that. After he had surgery, they weren't sure if he could fill the role of a starter again, due to stamina issues, but he could still deal, so he became a closer. He was incredibly effective and was one of the most dominate closers in the game at that point. A couple years later, he had enough conditioning and his arm was good enough to become a starter once again, and he is still the same old Smoltz...really good.
  11. I completely agree with you on this. On a night like tonight, we don't have to have two people working, so I'm really not picking up any slack at all. I mean, I'm sitting here obsessively clicking the refresh button to see all the new posts on BF.net tonight. The difference, though, is what I'm doing won't bother guests or give them a bad impression. I'm going to admit, though, that when she leaves at 10, I will probably go sit down in the back office and rest my feet and back for a few minutes. But, we have monitors to look at so I will know when someone is at the front desk. If I got really busy right now, she would have no clue because she never pays attention to the monitors (or anything for that matter except her phone, laptop (which she is using now) and MySpace). Not only do I pay attention to the desk when I'm in back, my activities in the back will not leave a bad impression on the guest. DHonks, mildly to the common man, to me, no...I can't stand immaturity (and I'm getting married in a month, so my official answer should probably be no). I do get paid more than her though, which is nice.
  12. Time to add to the coworker saga................. We are working together right now as we speak. I am at the front desk as I am supposed to be, she is in the back office, chatting away on the phone. She was listening to music pretty loudly just a few minutes ago. I can hear her phone conversation at the desk, which means guests could hear her too (but there are no guests tonight........hardly any that is...4 more scheduled arrivals). Right after my boss left, she went to the back office and was there for well over an hour before she peaked up to the front. She is scheduled to work until 10 and I just told her she can leave early. She doesn't want to leave though because she want the hours. I'm thinking I am going to have a conversation with my boss tomorrow afternoon when I arrive....no e-mails this time...face-to-face conversation.
  13. I'm trying to figure out what happened with Karen. Is she going to stay in New York and quit Dundar Mifflin?
  14. I worked with her for the first time since that incident last night. Both of my supervisors were there. I know she sat and talked to them for nearly an hour in an open door meeting, but I didn't listen to what was being said. After, my bosses had a closed door meeting, and she proceeded to chat away on the phone with her mom for about a half hour. Sigh...
  15. He was arguing OBP, not OPS...
  16. Let's not forget this game vs. the Mets from 2005.
  17. Andy floating in the lake was pretty funny...especially when he was off in the distance over Michael's shoulder. Not the funniest show this season. I didn't laugh as much as I thought I would.
  18. Brian, we'll do one of 2 things...1) ask a current moderator to do stuff for us, or 2) designate myself as the moderator for the Madison softball forum (I talked to TooLiveBrew, and we agreed that I can be the moderator). Do which ever is easier or would work better. Thank you much for all of your help in our new forum. Now that we have the team off the ground, I hope it can go for quite a few seasons to come.
  19. I know this is getting posted literally minutes after the creation of the Madison softball forum and transfer of all posts to that forum... How do we control what gets pinned to the top and all that good stuff? There are a couple threads that probably deserve to be up there, mainly our schedule, but as far as I know, we don't have any control over that. Could someone either show us how to do that or do it for us? Many thanks would be in order. By the way, I like having a separate forum, as I'm sure Milwaukee does too. Things are so much cleaner.
  20. Bust out the brooms, we've got another sweep on our hands. 9-1 home stand...Unbelievable! Remember when we considered a 6-4 home stand to be a good home stand? That was last year. Wow.
  21. E-mail has been sent to my 2 supervisors about my co-worker last night. I sure hope she gets talked to about it.
  22. Do we have any other relief pitchers other than Turnbow and Cordero? I'm not convinced we do, because they don't get put in when the starter falls apart like this.
  23. I'm a bit late, but Yost needs to go all Lou Brown on Weeks... "Every time you pop the ball in the air, you owe me 20 push-ups".
  24. We work at the front desk of a hotel...an e-mail to my boss might be written, but I don't want to be like a little kid and tell on her, but it is affecting our job performance. She has moved away from talking on the phone at the front desk and moved to the back office, which is almost worse....
  25. My co-worker got here at 5. It is now 7. With the exception of about 15 minutes, she has been on the phone on personal calls. I'm quite annoyed and angered, yet I am too nice to say anything.
