  1. Wahoo!!! No power or internet lost tonight. Heck, I didn't even know storms raced through, I was in class until 7. Turned on TMJ and they were listing all of the places without power. I'm pumped for this series. Cappy going for #17...who was the last Brewer pitcher to get 17 wins? Eldred? ...Brewers playing for .500 in MID SEPTEMBER!!!...I just hope tonight they don't hit one of those nights where a guy with a sky high ERA looks like a Cy Young winner.
  2. Cappy needed to be done when they got up to 13 runs in the 6th...enough run support to pretty much guarantee win #16 (or 17, which ever he'll be at). Oh well, I shouldn't be complaining when we have a 9 run lead, and I should be celebrating that. I just wish they could spread some of the runs out a bit. Score 12 in one game and 1 in the next, score 1 last night and now up to 14...geez...
  3. I agree. Get them some work so they aren't rusty when they have to come in and mop up for one of our starters by committee (Helling, though he pitched well last night)...
  4. Just drove past the stadium for the 3rd time about a half hour ago and the roof is open. My guess it will stay open unless there is rain in the area.
  5. I think 1290 is the back up, but if it isn't, try 1250 WSSP. I've driven past the stadium a couple times today and it's been closed all day...a good sign I think.
  6. If the game had been tied or the Brewers ahead at that point, I would have done what they did...keep Ben in and sac bunt. But when you're down by a run and there is a runner on 3rd with 1 out, what is the best thing to do in that situation? Bunt? The runner at 1st wasn't the runner they needed to move to the next base. Yeah, to win, they needed him to score, but they needed to tie first. I also don't think you could have PH'd for Magruder right there because there was no one on the bench to play CF for him.
  7. With runners at 1st and 3rd with one out and down by 1, what do you need? A run or to move that runner to 2nd? This should be a no-brainer to anyone on this board. What gives us a better chance at a run, a fly ball or a bunt? I'm not sure I would have kept Sheets in the game at that point or not, but I severly question the bunt. Sheets CAN hit that ball out of the infield, it has been done before. Yeah, he's a horrible hitting pitcher and the chances of him grounding into a double play are pretty high...but...WHY BUNT?????????????????? (anyone hitting in that situation, Branyan, Helms, anyone, can just as easily hit into a double play) We needed one run there, not two. Why try to score 2 runs with a base hit with 2 outs and not one run with a possible fly ball out?
  8. I think this game really showed our lack of depth on the bench. I don't like only having one player to come off the bench and play the outfield. I understand it's near impossible to take out Jenkins or Lee just because of their bats, but there is only one person to play 3 different outfield positions, should one of the 3 normal starters sit or get hurt. Today, Clark getting hurt left no one on the bench to come in an play, either as a PH or as a defensive replacement. As a side, what's going to happen when/if Cirillo comes back?
  9. Well, at least we're still ahead of the Cubs.
  10. Not as bad as lefty-lefty. I know, lefty-lefty didn't come up... You know, I guess all said and done, the cards still scored 8, and no matter what, we probably wouldn't have had that many in the game. This shows how bad we need a better 5th starter and how our long relief still needs help.
  11. Only Wes Helms starting. I cringe when I see him field a ball. Plus, it's always good to have someone on the bench who can come up to the plate from the bench and get a hit, which Helms has excelled at this year.
  12. I'll take it back to even before the 4th inning. Why doesn't Yost start the best 8 players available? Branyan holds his own as a starter and Helms is great as a pinch hitter. Hardy or Hall is a wash. He should play the best 8 to begin with. edit: Hall is a better hitter...and his D isn't too bad, so maybe it's not a wash.
  13. So start Branyan and save Helms for a PH. He's one of the best in the league at pinch hitting...
  14. They also have to stop the other team from scoring runs. Obviously, everyone but Santana couldn't stop the Cards from scoring, so why not take every possible step to keep the Cards at 4 runs for the rest of the game? As was said earlier, our problem was giving up runs...and did PHing for the pitcher help us? Nope (though I'll admit, all is 20/20 in hindsight)
  15. Is Eveland supposed to be a long reliever? If so, why did he only pitch 2 innings? He was dealing, and yes, his spot came up in the order. So? Don't wear out the bullpen too much and bring up situations where our bad relievers (DLR) have to come in.
  16. All the more reason to start him at 3rd base and keep the best PH in the league on the bench to be used as a PH in situations where we need a hit.
  17. Would have rather had 3TO hit in the 4th with the bases loaded and 1 out than right now. Back in that inning, even a simple hit scores 2. Now a base hit scores only 1. If he strikes out in the 4th, same result as we had with Magruder batting.
  18. Not a Tavarez fan...ever since he jumped and flexed his muscles against the brewers back in '98
  19. This team has issues hitting the cut-off. It's been a problem all season. Fundamentals...we need to work on them...
  20. Why not PH Muscle??? He has a 67% chance to drive in a run, if you believe in 3TO...
  21. I despise Grudzielanek...though he's from WI, he's a Brewer killer this year... THROW STRIKES!!!!
  22. I leave when it's 8-6 mets to workout, then return, expecting it to be over, I return and T-Bow is pitching to save...excellent. Maybe I should leave more often when they are losing.
  23. There we go...gamecast on milwaukeebrewers.com is working. hopefully there will be no more delays (though I'm still getting updates faster on the board)
