  1. That there was no Office on last night, and there was an Earl hour. I hope they change that up and give The Office an hour show sometime.
  2. That's what we are going to do. We already balance our holidays with my family and hers. Last year, Christmas was exclusively at her parent's house, and "Christmas" with my parents was on New Years. This year, split both holidays (my parents are deciding to go to my sister's in Eau Claire). On the way home from my parents last night, we talked about when we have a house and kids, we, as a family, are going to start our own traditions. Parents are always welcome, but we don't want to haul our kids all over the state around the holidays. I don't care if we offend everyone, because we're not playing favorites.
  3. Trying to figure out how to make everyone happy during the holidays. Driving from A to B because you don't want to make A angry but you made B angry last year beacause you spent all the time at A's house, but A will be hurt this year if you spend the holidays with B... I can't wait till I am married with my own house and family, because then I can stay home.
  4. I really cracked up at the scene where Kelly hugs Jim then proceeds to tell him about the celebrity gossip, then Jim asked, "so what's new with you?" "I just told you." I started watching about half way through season 2, and this has quickly become my favorite non-animated tv show ever. Now I have to see the British version.
  5. The whole part about Jim using Dwight's stationary to send faxes from the future was classic. Unfortunately, I sort of saw the plot way ahead today, but it was still a great episode.
  6. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but back in the summer I was driving through the Marquette Interchange construction, in the right lane- left lane wide open- and the guy behind me flashed his lights at me. I sort of gestured towards the open lane and he got over and passed me. Both of us then proceeded to exit at the next ramp, and he flashed a car while on the off ramp. I'm glad this thread got bumped back up...'tis quite enjoyable.
  7. The "ESPN Sucks" thread from the MLB forum sparked this one.... The national sports media focusing on the same 2 or 3 stories for months, even over the course of several years. This really started to bug me Sunday before and during the Eagles/Cowboys game. Before the game (during the Packer game), they kept game breaking not to games in progress, but to TO warming up in Philly. Then when the game started and the Cowboys had the ball, they always made sure the audience knew where TO was on the field, by putting a little arrow with his name next to it. I don't care! He's one of their starting WR's, correct? Then he should be on the field. I don't need Fox to tell me that he is on the field. Then Sportscenter on Monday. Uff duh. They talked about 2 topics the whole show...TO and the Yankees losing (versus the Tigers winning). It got so bad, I turned it off. We all heard the same story from New York last year when the Yankees lost, so do we need to hear it again? I would have much rather have heard about the upcoming LCS's, but was forced to listen to stuff about Torre and Steinbrenner (until I turned it off).
  8. Other than the Foreman Grill episode from last season, I have never laughed so hard at a single episode. My favorite line was when Jan called Michael... Jan: "I just had a conversation with Dwight." Michael: "You were at the dentist?"
  9. NBC showing encore presentations of all of their new shows. Friday Night Lights was on last night. If I can't watch it during its normal time slot, don't rub it in by showing me what I'm always missing. If anything, show encores of The Office or something.
  10. I never realized how many smokers there were until the smoking ban forced smokers outside. I live by the Great Dane downtown, and when I walk past, especially late evening, I have to walk passed the mass of smokers huddled by the door. I like the smoking ban, but I don't like the smokers outside and all of the cigarette butts they just throw on the sidewalk when they are done smoking.
  11. I avoid them at all costs, but I was sort of dragged there today. Also, I've only stepped in one A & F once, and that was nearly 10 years ago.
  12. Ambercrombie & Fitch. Went to the mall today, and the music that comes out of that store is insanely loud. I feel like there should be a bar in the back with some strobe lights flashing and people dancing when I peek into that store. Then they have their advertisements. Their ads for guys jeans show a torso of a guy, no shirt, and like an inch of the top of the jeans showing. Yes, I want to buy something I can't really see a picture of. Then the clothes themselves cost a ton. What, $35 for a t-shirt, $80 or $100 for a pair of pants. Yikes.
  13. I'm having the same problem. I applied to 16 different school districts. I got 3 rejection letters, one interview, but nothing from anyone else. What really made me mad though was the place I interviewed never got back to me with their decision. How inconsiderate. I'm also having that problem now. "Oh, you'll hear back from us in a week or so." Three weeks later and I'm still waiting!
  14. I've got a few, and I'm going to give a little story behind each, so sorry in advance if it's a long post. I need to rant a bit more. Wal-Mart parking lots, main aisles and check outs I'm actually anti-Wal-Mart, and it has nothing to do with news stories about how their employees are treated. I don't like how crowded they always are. I almost get hit by like three cars anytime I'm in the parking lot. Then they have all the little stands full of merchandise in the middle of the main aisles, and people walk down the wrong side, causing traffic jams. Then the lines to check out are really long. Plus, the size of their stores are huge, so good luck finding anything. I've got more about Wal-Mart, but I'll stop here. Shopping mall kiosks I really don't like these kiosks, especially cell phone kiosks (and more specifically, T-Mobil). As you walk by, they always ask you questions. "Hey, can I ask you a question?" "You just did." At a T-Mobil kiosk in Madison, a worker yelled at a woman, "Hey, you, come here. Don't ignore me, get over here." Yeah, real good sales tactics. I think Mayfair in Milwaukee has 5 T-Mobil kiosks. Then there are the hair people. They ask my fiance if she wants her hair straightened. She has 15 inch straight hair. Do you think she wants it straightened? People who drive around in parking lots looking for a close place to park, especially on a beautiful summer day. I've come to a conclusion; If you park your car a little farther away and walk into the store/mall/where ever, you actually get in a little sooner than if you drive around waiting for a close spot to open up. I really don't like it when a car follows someone walking out of a mall until these people get to their car. Then they wait for them to get in the car and leave. Maybe these are all good reasons why I absolutely hate shopping.
  15. I haven't done posted in this thread in a few days, so time to add a few more... State Street in Madison becoming commercialized My wireless card disconnecting from my wireless network every time I move my computer (I have a laptop and my router is 6 feet away from the computer) Trying to find a part-time job to supplement my new job (substitute teacher in Madison...finally) Not getting called to go into my new job Being bored all day Not knowing HTML or whatever I need to know well enough to bullet my items People who don't pull up far enough in their street parking spot, thus making the spot behind them useless Drivers who don't use their turn signals Drivers who drive in the left lane of the freeway who are going slow and won't get over to the right lane to let you pass them My parents comparing my wedding next summer with my sister's wedding in a couple weeks People trying to tell me what to do with my life Sorry that there are a lot of personal things on there, but I've been keeping it in lately, so it feels good to let it out. I'll add more non-personal things later.
  16. A new one today... Everything sports related now a days seems to have a name and a sponsor. For example, ESPN is calling the pennant races "The Hunt for October, brought to you by Budweiser". Ok, MLB pennant races would happen if Bud brought it to me or not. Then there is the first week of football, both college and NFL. I don't know who the sponsor is, but they do have names. I know that certain things need named, but naming a race that is going to happen anyways? Just another way advertisers stick their names down our throats. Man, I have a lot of stuff that bugs me. I love this topic.
  17. I have a lot of things that bug me. The most current are... People who don't use their turn signal Not being able to find a job since graduation (I am really, really bored. Can anyone help someone with a History degree and/or teacher certification? I have both!) DirecTV not carrying Brewer games in FSN. Mostly the job one though...I'm pretty pathetic without a job to occupy my time.
  18. All those "Inside Hollywood" or "Extra" type shows as well as a thing like "the Buzz" on Fox 6 that talk about the stars and their personal lives. Personally, I could care less that Tom Cruise uses Kleenex instead of Puffs. I really don't care what Paris Hilton is up to or anything like that. Why, as a country, are people so caught up in what the stars are doing?
  19. Weather people. On last night's (Sunday) 10 PM news, they said it was supposed to be partly sunny today with a high near 80. I wake up, and it's cloudy and raining. I played golf at University Ridge today, so when I heard last night's weather forcast, I was pumped for a nice day on the course. But I got irritated when I was soaking wet for the first 10 holes. Yeah, it was really partly sunny today.
  20. I'm moving back to Madison in 2 weeks...I'd love to be a part of a BF.net softball team next summer and a part of some gatherings.
  21. So I logged in a couple times today to BF.net (on different computers), and a couple times before I could continue on to where I wanted to go, I got a big advertisement (an entire web page) for ESPN mobile...then I had to click on a link to get me back to BF.net. So is the site being sponsored by ESPN Mobile now? I'm confused as to why this happened...
  22. are any of these places indoor? I want to go this week, but if it's raining, I'll want to hit inside.
  23. So after the victory, I went out and celebrated like we won the World Series. 10 beers and 4 shots later I was coming up with my own lyrics to the tune of "We Are the Champions" about how the Brewers are no longer losers. Twas a great night, but not so great morning. I love the Eastsider...
  24. 4-2 against Cincinnati and Pittsburgh...2 teams who we've done pretty well against. I sure hope a week from today, we are truly celebrating...
  25. I'm getting a little tired of seeing, "In play, out(s) recorded"
