  1. Woodruff wasn't ever hitting 97-99 in his starts like he was in his playoff spots......he threw really hard in a few playoff games. Hader threw mid to upper 90's all season- very sustainable for a couple innings. I'm not sure if Woodruff could hold up throwing that extra hard for 7 months. Worth finding out, though... Interesting to see what happens...
  2. All of this....
  3. A hotel right next to the stadium would add to the experience for many.
  4. The Best Western Milwaukee-West is a 15 minute walk from the RF entrance to the stadium. You could do that already I park on the streets southwest of the stadium for day games... don't feel comfortable with the walk back to the car on night games so I just park in the gen. lot. Who does this?
  5. I've been waiting for this to develop for some time. I would think that for the amount of fans that are concentrated in the area for Brewers game for roughly 80 plus nights a year, that alone would be enough to get a hotel close to the Miller Park. A few other thoughts... The Packers and Bucks have hotels extremely close to the field/forum. Most baseball stadiums have hotels within walking distance to the stadium. With the amount of extra activities going on year round at the stadium (meetings, conventions, weddings, etc..... you'd be surprised at how many events are held there compared to 10 years ago), an attached hotel to the stadium via sky walk would make sense. The Brewers have several fans traveling plus one hours to the game. Add that to the amount of alcohol consumed, I'd say many would enjoy a walk to the hotel instead of the long car ride home. Interested in why this couldn't happen... enough crap hotels make it work when seasons are slow and weekdays have nothing notable happening. I'd like to see the Brewers looking to make more money around the stadium like the Cubs and Cards. I realize it can't be the same but something small and smart would be nice for the bottom line and fan experience
  6. #1 - Likely going to happen.... #2- Can't see so much money (and years) spent on 30 year old OFs... just think Santana gets plenty of at bats #3Aguilar is staying.... the other two both could be on the move. Braun and Aguilar at 1B sounds good. #4 Shaw to 3B, ok. Mercer? Well, maybe not him but a guy like him, sure. #5 Splashy move? I'd be plenty excited for a trade for de Grom or a #1 or 2... I'm not sure how that gets done, though, without giving up 3 young guys with high ceilings.
  7. Getting Whit and then having his versatility for four years..... that would be Stearnslike. If Hiura has a special bat in the bigs, Merrifield would take over Perez's role.
  8. I hope you are right and he's our 2B for years to come. Yet..... Hiura hit .272 with 6 HR at AA in 73 games. What makes you so confident that he can hit well in the majors? As minor league hitting prospects, they are in the same world as another has noted with rankings, if not with milb stats, where Brinson has the edge. Brinson would have the edge with defense, as well, until Hiura proves himsellf at 2B. I'm pumping the brakes until Hiura show me a good 2019 at AA or AAA. You may be right with him, but I need to see more.
  9. Painful watching him versus a righty.... Throw hard anywhere and it seemed over.
  10. Dangle a Ray/Davies/Williams centered package and you might get Royals attention. I'd like to add Whit. Good right handed, contact bat, good avg, good speed. He can play multiple positions, especially nice when Hiura is deemed ready. He would be under control for four more years, right? I like the idea of trying to find a another solid long term piece. Seems like a good fit. Never sure what the Royals are looking for, though.
  11. Agree with the annoying part. Truth hurts sometimes. So glad to hear that debating people is now deemed as fine... cause I still feel sell outs sell out to Cubs fans. Glad I can say that again after being told otherwise. Seriously, we all have our viewpoints. I don't like them all and many I don't agree with either. It is nice to get other people's views, though. I have learned a lot about baseball by reading posts on brewerfan.net from big time fans.
  12. You are simply wrong. A runner on 2nd with no outs vs a runner on 3rd with 1 out is a 4% increase in a chance to score a single run. The odds with a runner on 1st vs runner on 2nd are similar. So you have to be successful with the bunt over 90% of the time for it to be a valid strategy. It is extremely rare for this to be the case. Bunting in the current game of baseball is a huge mistake unless you have a pitcher up or an elite bunter up. You aren't including the times the guy gets on whether by hit, error, or walk.
  13. Harsh... blowin the band up after an overachieving season. Replacements better not bust up the chemistry on the team.
  14. A lefty starter should be an early trade target. Suter, a lefty, should factor into our plans at some point; whether it is at the end of 2019 is anyone's guess. Miley should get a two year deal somewhere, probably too rich for Milwaukee now after his performances down the stretch. Gio could be had on a one year deal, but he will have other suitors too. The odds of having just one of these guys produce in a Brewers uniform next season is below 50% in my book so a trade for a similar lefty might be needed to balance out the starting pitching. With the depth and added payroll for arby guys in 2019, you would have to believe that some players will simply be traded next year. Preach depth all you want, but the number of guys to simply pay seven figure contracts is way up. Having depth AND paying them next to nothing is one thing. Taking on larger contracts only to have them shifting between San Antonio and Milwaukee, or the rotation and bullpen, is another. The Brewers began trading away depth at the deadlines, guys that possibly weren't going to be on the 40 man roster this year. That should only continue. Guys like Anderson and Davies are on the trade market, no doubt. They could be had in the right deal because they are getting paid, and we have already shown to have better options on the staff that are not. They each would be good candidates to be traded to small market teams because of their multi years of control and quality experience on a staff. Merrifield and KC could be a match. Giving them an Anderson or Davies, along with a young and blocked bat (Ray), makes sense for both teams.
  15. Agreed unless we get a deGrom like pitcher... someone who can avg 7 innings per start and give the bullpen a sort of rest every fifth day.
  16. With Davies and Anderson back, this is not the rotation in 2019. Anderson and Davies are in until they are traded. Chacin Nelson Anderson (probably traded) Davies (possibly traded) Burnes or Peralta Bullpen- I think Woodruff threw exceptionally hard in the pen! He was at 98 often. He takes Burnes role. Suter gets a long role. Knebel Hader Jeffress Woodruff Barnes Cedeno Suter Guerra
  17. Schoop at 10 million? Why? No way he is here for this.... will find a 2B by trade with Hiura in the wings and save the money for other arby guys. Moose will look for a long term deal.... perhaps with us. 3 for 40 mil? Cedeno is back, of course. A bullpen lefty, low price, enough trust to pitch him to a batter in Game 7.... he's back. No to Vogt, yes to Kratz. No to Jennings...
  18. Exciting and flamboyant sounds good. Flip your bat, stare down your HR, trash talk, celebrate like your life depended on it, I don't care. But in my mind there's a pretty clear line between all that and taunting your opponent or their fans with obscene gestures. It's the next step progressively.... that's why bat flips/stare downs/trash talk were negatively viewed for years. Besides it being selfish and not sportsmanlike, it naturally leads to much worse action. Make that ok and the "bad" boys will take it to the next step, as you've seen. No surprise.
  19. Winning one WS is going to change everything? Some would say that one in the last 50 would be a blip or insignificant. It stings to lose this one, sure. We had a terrific season. Show a little grace, tip your hat to LA, and hope for better next season. Yes. Winning one would change it for me, and a lot of other folks. It would be great to win it all, I agree. I'm not sure how my opinion of the team would change, however. Still go to games, still hope they get to the playoffs, still be proud to be a Brewer fan, all that. So in your mind we're all losers until we win one championship? Then we can wear our championship gear for the next 30 years and feel like winners? It would be great to win it all, huge fun, but not life altering.
  20. I've been optimistic that we could improve since I went to my first home game in 1979. At what point does the annual optimism just fall by the wayside? At some point, a franchise has to win. Instead, we've had decades of "wait until next year". I'm tired of people feeling the need to blow sunshine up my butt. We can spin all we want, but every year, we lose the last game of the season, and it's become incredibly deflating. Just leave the bandwagon then and stop cryin about it.

  22. Not this game, but Game 2 and Game 4, yeah. I can't do the "great memories were made", "good job guys!" thing. Just can't. We are known for losing and we lost again. We should have won this series. The crowning achievement will be game 163, the rest of this will largely be forgotten. It's an '08, '11. An insignificant blip. Wonderful season, heartbreaking Game 7..... I agree that Game 2 and 4, one of them, should have been a win. I don't agree with your take on how this season will be remembered..... significant September and October that was shocking and special.
  23. There is almost no situation in baseball where a major league hitter bunting helps your chances to score a run unless you have a really fast runner and an elite bunter. This has nothing to do with why we lost. Disagree. Bunting has its place. Getting a guy to 2nd or 3rd with a bunt, especially with a pitcher or low OBP guy to turn the lineup over, is needed especially when top notch pitching is on the hill. For the big inning, no, bunting has no place, I'll agree with you. You are talking about one run. Having a contact hitter or three on your bench to hit the ball when a guy is at 3rd has its place, as well. In Game 7, I agree with you. It's not why we lost.
  24. Maybe tonight.... not the season. Charlie would kick several GW field goals in that gif.
  25. I would absolutely love if this happened. That would mean Chacin would pitch today on short rest though which would be kind of pointless since we have to win today and tomorrow anyways. Maybe both pitch today! Johnny Wholestaff tomorrow!
