  1. I think it is unlikely we get him back, especially since he past up the mutual option at such a high amount. The only chance is if we have Shaw on the block, and we are looking to fill his absence. It would take a 3 or 4 year deal at 15 million to get his interest, though, which would be a real stretch.
  2. My guess is that the following happens: 1. We get a multi-positional player to play 2B this year, partly so he can play or back up elsewhere when Hiura comes up this year or next. 2. To get anything of starting value, we need to give at least a 2 year deal. 3. The #2 spot in the order is up for battle, as well. An aging Braun goes to hit #5 or 6 in RBI positions, Yelich to #3 possibly, with the new 2B (eventually Hiura hopefully) hitting second. 4. A Jed Lowrie signing for 24 million for 2 years, and a club option for 10 million (opt out 2 million) makes the most sense...... I guess this is done December 31.
  3. Then again, without Moose and Granderson, the only lefties are Shaw, Thames, and Yelich, right? I'll backtrack on this one.
  4. Gotta believe that they are looking for a righty bat.
  5. Hope that we stand pat somewhat with our young SP and deal from our OF depth. We could add to SP at midseason.
  6. Maybe for their choice of two of the three (Burnes, Santana, Ray). Maybe.
  7. Defending Doug here.... not fair. Only a handful of bad contracts when with the team, and those, put next to the bad ones today, are not comparable.
  8. Tough to turn down that much money and security..... but yeah, he could have gotten more.
  9. Great thing is that the team doesn't have to pay it....
  10. Thanks for the info. This would ease my concern if we do offer arby.
  11. Another byproduct of this decision.... Offering him arby puts added weight on Stearns shoulders with more salary and less flexibility. DS would be even more limited in making moves or adding salary before most of the offseason action even begins. A strength, his wheeling and dealing, would be hindered. Some options to potentially improve the team probably wouldn't be off the table, but the next moves might be. Signing Schoop means he is the 2B to start the season, right? Shaw is penciled in at 3B. Really, the whole lineup is set outside of a blockbuster move for a catcher. Are we ok with the same boom or bust offense? For me, we think more of getting a plus contact bat at 3B OR 2B in the top/middle of the lineup. Stearns gets the luxury of having some time to get that done. Whether that is a Lowrie on a 2 or 3 year deal or a DS trade, getting a solid bat would be a top goal. If it isn't there between now and spring training, so be it. We go with Perez or some other temporary option. If we could offer Schoop arby in Feb. as a last resort instead of by the end of the week, I'd see it more your way.
  12. Still not sure why this is a debate.... he played horribly for us. Just too much $ for a small market team, even for just one year. Also, if we nontender him, we have options internally, with trades, and FA.
  13. The money is the biggie to me. If he was getting 1 or 2 mil, maybe he would be in the mix for playing time in 2019.
  14. I'll take avg.
  15. The problem is they would need two or three year deals. That is a roster spot being used on someone who may only start for half a season. Using that spot on someone to play the same role as Perez or Dubon means losing a spot to protect someone on the 40 man roster next year. Or to risk losing someone who is out of options and equally valuable for less money. For me Schoop's main value is that it is only a one year commitment. I wouldn't pay Schoop the money. We could do more with it- either get another 2B or use it for raises elsewhere and by time for Hiura. Also, I'm all for someone better taking over for Perez.
  16. I tend to think it's ridiculous $ for Corbin.... 5 years for 100 plus
  17. Nuts if we take on his big salary when he performed so poorly. Worst looking batter against any sort of righty with mid to high 90's heat. Nice D, though, and couldn't possibly be worse at bat than what he showed last season with us, yet really this should be an easy one. And there are a few better veteran 2B for potentially less $ on two or three year deals. And we have Hiura in the wings. And we have Shaw if need be...
  18. Kluber for a package of Peralta, Ray, Davies, and change?
  19. Ray and a boatload of salary...... maybe. Greinke is getting pretty old.
  20. Info on group tickets for 2019 was sent out recently. A few notable changes: *The Club IF sections have been extended down the line in both directions, maybe six new sections total that are now Club IF instead of Club OF. *Bernie's Terrace sections have been cut down to two instead of four(?). Terrace Box and Terrace Reserved now take up old Bernie sections. *Overall, it looks like most group ticket prices have expectedly increased slightly from last year. These prices usually correlate well to ind. game prices. * Super Bonus dates are numerous.... maybe eight or nine total in April, May, June, and September. However, the Loge InF. are now $15 instead of $10. Most other prices for Super Bonus have stayed the same. * Most expensive seats, series wise, will be the July series with the 2nd place Cubs.
  21. Loaded jerky words for a fan site based on one's honest opinion, be it right or wrong. Please clarify.... It hasn't happened yet = bad idea? Only hotel developers have the wisdom to know where to build? So you yourself have no opinion or do you think it's a bad idea? And if you are against the idea itself, with which developer do you work?
  22. It's within driving distance to everything in Milwaukee; it has easy access. Conventions, meetings, wedding parties, Etc. would use it. I think of all those out of state fans of the opposition that we see in the stands..... it would be super easy to see two games and stay for a night next to the stadium rather than heading downtown. If you are against this one, you probably are against the operation of 90% of the hotels out there already. Weekday traffic? Events going on in Milwaukee? How do they manage?
  23. While we're at it, put a pool on the roof (8 floors) with a retractable roof, if that makes sense.
  24. I'd like to see the hotel attached to Milller Park. Perhaps a skywalk to the Club level and access to the Field Level on the first base side of Miller Park could work, with the hotel itself rubbing up against the northwest side of Miller Park. How this could be twisted into a bad idea is beyond me. Put 30,000 people in a building for any event 8o times a year and you'd expect to have a hotel within walking distance of the venue.
