  1. I got front row bleacher seats to one of the summer Cubs games. I doubt that would have been possible if I was fighting thousands of outside the state fans on the first day of ticket sales.
  2. Would Jenkins start in this outfield? I'm not sure he would even be a back-up.
  3. Stop it. Stop making every damn thread about your Villar hating agenda. It is so damn tiring that every year you do this with certain players. I didn't get any sense of hate in Briggs' thread. I did in yours, though, including the cursing. I haven't agreed with Briggs on every topic, but he may write every one of his threads about Villar. In fact, I'll hit the dead horse with Briggs until CC wakes up and plays Sogard until he proves he cannot play.
  4. Boy, it is tough to see how we can believe that we are much more than a .500 team with a middling farm system. To make big moves like adding Yelich and Cain without seriously addressing the pitching is really puzzling. To top it off, we might be handing Aguilar over to another team in a couple of weeks while sitting Santana on opening day. Most Brewers fans can'f be pleased with the offseason so far, correct? Something big has to happen yet in the next two weeks. Just has to...
  5. Would trading our best reliever, with multiple years of control (4?), after one of his best years, possibly ever, be a prudent thing? Probably not, I know, but if we could get a TOR starter straight up for him and Woodruff or Santana, wouldn't we be wise to listen? Shutdown bullpen guys are rare, and it wold be tough to see him go, but pair him with an OF or young pitching prospect for deGrom, let's say, and I'd be thrilled. Has anyone heard of any rumblings about trading Knebel? I heard Hader was basically off any type of trade list, but no word on Knebel.
  6. If we don't add a starter.... We probably should return Cain to the FA heap
  7. HH still has him likely signing with the Brewers on Monday, correct?
  8. Not many have more walks than K's in all of baseball..... His OBP was way better than most last season, as well. I'm not sure why people don't appreciate Sogard more. He does very well in his role (or at least a bench role). Would we rather have another K machine that might hit 20 HR in the line-up with a weak glove and mental lapses? Seems to me that DS is moving away from that all or nothing hitting approach by signing Cain and trading for Yelich. Why? That is pretty much the only time in his career when he has put up those numbers. He never walked more than he struck out until last year and his OBP last year is an extreme outlier compared to the rest of his career where he struggles to get to a .300 OBP. He has never performed like he did during that stretch and he probably never will again. I lose zero sleep if he gets cut today. My outlook for this team wouldn't change one iota. Pretty much My take on Villar, as well.
  9. Batting- We might be a little better than avg. Pitching- As of right now, we might be a little worse than avg. Overall a .500 team is what we look to have right now. That keeps us in it until early September.
  10. I think you're putting way too much weight on baserunning. I also think you're putting way too much weight on Sogards hot 6 weeks when he came up. Pretty awful after that. He is steady defensively and can walk, great. Dublin can do that and is even better in the field. You can always find a Sogard at any point of the season. 11. Good, not great..... too many needless mistakes. Inning killing and demoralizing. He said he shows promise, meaning good to great play imo. The real crazy thing is the negatives toward Sogard when he obviously gives you more from the bench (steady glove, smart baserunner, contact hitter, walks more than K) than Villar. CC wouldn't even use the 2016 SB leader regularly as a pinch runner last season.... very telling. I think you're putting way too much weight on baserunning. 13. What has changed? Well, the season for starters. It's a brand new one. And if we cut a 26-year old Villar, who has shown a lot of promise in his short time in his Brewer career over the likes of a Sogard... Stearns if flat out stupid. We could insert Counsell in our lineup and he could do what Sogard is going to give us this year. Stearns was silly for even offering him a contract. The guy is a flat out bum at the plate. We already have one of those as our versatile guy in Perez. What kind of reality are you living in? Sogard is washed up and Villar is poised for greatness? Sogard could all but walk and strikeout and have a better OBP than Villar. Actually, I was upset with Villar in his good year (2016) because of his antics on the bases and unsure glove. He did not have a GREAT season. Nah, he can be traded or released if Walker comes back. We don't need another K machine and headache in the field and on the bases.
  14. The big one for me is when the first batter of an inning is announced and THEN the manager comes strolling out to pull the pitcher! Easy fix is that pitcher must face that batter.
  15. More like 2 years at 15 million total
  16. A salary floor (100 mil range) and cap (200 to 210) makes the most sense. That would force small markets to take on some more FA, currently unsigned. It would increase competition throughout the league. The biggie would be Increasing the revenue sharing so small markets could afford yearly FA. I believe Bob Costas came up with a formula where each MLB team's home game's revenue is shared with the visiting team, whether it's TV, radio, tickets, whatever. The big markets still come out ahead because their 81 home shares are much more than 81 home small market shares. The huge divide in team revenue that is now so apparent would be much less then with this plan, and smaller markets would have to use their added revenue on players. Plus, fan bases would be given hope almost yearly because of the acquisition of new or proven talent to the roster. If the big markets cannot stomach giving up so much revenue, I suggest added benefits to small markets (45 man rosters for bottom half revenue teams, no 1st round pick for top third revenue teams, an uneven schedule where small revenue teams play more small revenue teams, big markets play more bigbmarket teams, etc.). Basically, level the playing field. I mean the Brewers are considered as "going for it" now, and their payroll is still half of Big market teams..... what a joke.
  17. He reminds me of a young Jimmy Nelson/Ben Sheets type. Burly. He throws fairly hard with good command, a nice slider. You're right in that he had to go through a weird season, rehab and all, and then get pushed into a wild card race. I have high hopes for him.
  18. Glad we don't have him.... He didn't seem too interested in being with a mere, small market team. If he got $21 mil for 6 years, I would think 5 years at 95 mil would get Arietta.
  19. Not the playbook.... more like a part of your soul
  20. Got Brewers/Cubs tickets this morning at 9:05- 1st row of bleachers for game in June. Seats were $24 each-$27.50 with all fees. Parking was $12- $14 with convenience charge. I probably would not have gotten as nice a seat if competing with Illinois, as well. No way would this have been possible when standing in line for an hour at Arctic Tailgate! Kudos to the Brewers for doing this! Not selling them, and proud of it. You can't be much of a Brewers fan when selling to the hated rival, imo..... might as well being wearing another team's hat (wink, wink). I hope a few more Brewers fans are there (with nicer seats) this year to support the team. Isn't that what it's all about?
  21. This will help bring more Brewers fans in the park. Whether that means a few hundred more or a few thousand more, it is a step in the right direction.
  22. This way pitchers will never bat, but the strategy and bench depth is still a part of the game. Both sides get what they really want. Sounds like a great idea! Well done.
