  1. Predicting news on Yu Darvish.... maybe we pulled the offer.
  2. Super Bowl over, time to make more predictions... Yu to Dodgers Arrieta back to Cubs Brewers get Lynn Cards get Cobb All are signed by next week.
  3. Always was against DH in NL..... Now, I can stomach the idea, especially after seeing a few of our pitchers getting hurt batting or running bases (Anderson, Nelson, Guerra). What I'd be in favor of is having a rule where the DH cannot be just one guy in the line-up. Meaning, after the DH bats, he cannot play the field/hit again. Rather, it would have to be someone different each time up. That would allow the strategy to stay in the game (pitchers COULD still hit to save the bench or pitchers would be used to bat with 2 outs, nobody on, when scoring in the inning seems remote). Perhaps one or two players could be added to the 25 man roster because of the rule. The way the game is trending with more pitchers being used each game, that might be happening sooner than later anyways.
  4. Knebel, Santana, and Davies?
  5. Plan A- Super Staff ---Trade Domingo, Knebel, Davies for DeGrom We sell high for true ace who is controllable for 3 years. ---Sign Arrieta or Darvish to the big deal ---Trade one of the 1B for prospects allowing Braun to play there a bit DeGrom Arrieta Anderson Nelson Chacin Plan B- Super Lineup --- Sign Moose to play 3B --- Sign Walker to play 2B --- Move Shaw to 1B --- Trade Domingo for high pitching or catching prospect(s) --- Trade both 1B for pitchingprospects Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Moose Walker Pina Arcia
  6. One was discussing the validity of a Brewers theme day on a morally divisive topic, planned for the first time this year at Miller Park. The other is discussing beloved Brewers hot dogs and sausages. There's the difference. If both are considered non-baseball topics, then the negativity and petty back and forth should be treated equally- lock down the topic like the other was. If both are considered topics related to the Brewers, again lock it down like the last was for the negativity and needless combative words. If the topic of morality is the difference between the two and you don't want that kind of stuff discussed here, you should take a hard stance against the Brewers themselves promoting these type of days, whatever side of the issue you're on. If it's not ok in your view here, then why there? Instead, silence reigns. Don't discuss it. Don't write abou it. Yet the Brewers can hold a themed day publically celebrated to the masses on it? Respectfully, If you can't see the hypocracy, then I don't know what to tell ya. From the Fan Forum Etiquette: "Please keep politics, religion, and sex out of the forum. Fairly or not, these topics have regularly resulted in threads going out of control. Also, please avoid contentious topics such as racial and ethnic issues. If you're into discussing these topics, we recommend the separate forum Brewerfan Political Scene." The sausage race does not fall into any of these categories. Discussing the morality of sexual preference does and that type of discussion is not allowed here. Fair enough.... just struggling with this topic and the unneeded change the Brewers are making.
  7. I was just trying to gauge our new expectations, comparatively to the other sports in the state.
  8. Thinking forward on the Packers, you have to believe that McCarthy has little rope in keeping his job as head coach after this upcoming season. Meaning, he has to win many games and some post season games this season. I figure that he has to win the division and get to the NFC Championship Game. If he gets in as a Wild Card, it will take a trip to the Super Bowl to save his job. With Kidd gone, the rope on the interim Bucks coach might be to actually get to the NBA Finals. Anything short of that will probably get him replaced. That got me thinking about the rope that Stearns has from Attanasio and CC has from DS. If the Brewers don't make the playoffs in the next I'll say five seasons, Stearns is out. If the Brewers don't make the playoffs in my guess of two seasons, CC is out. You? You?
  9. I tend to agree with most of this... We overplayed but it hopefully will be part of the reason we are in the playoffs in the next few years.

  11. Count me as one who is skeptical of this move.... A lot of money given to a guy on the backside of his career. His d and off #'s will decline in the contract. We have quality depth in the OF, especially with the addition of Yelich. The odd man out (Santana) as of now, has 4 years left, is young and presumably will get somewhat better as he gets into his late 20's, will will be half as cheap as Cain, and with arbitration isn't getting guaranteed money. A trade of Santana for a good starting pitcher erases some of the criticism, however. The other saving grace, why I'm skeptical and not against, is that he Lord willing will make more contact with runners on and will give us a reliable bat that can get that run is n from 3B. His d is also above average and presumably will be for most of the contract.
  12. What about the injury issue with Fulmer at the end of last season? I think that would further push items toward Archer (or going with a FA).. He had a nerve transported to prevent irritation issues. That's not a big deal. So an 8 war pitcher at 24 (2 not even full years) isnt an ace because he doesn't K enough guys? Archer in 5 years has had 1 year better than fulmers average. One guy averages 6ip per start. 1 averages 6.3 at 24 years old. For me, he doesn't miss enough bats to be thought of as a sure year to year thing. More than that, he hasn't been very good long enough to give up a Santana AND a Woodruff/Dubon. Throw in the negatives that he pitches in a pitcher's park and that he has had a recent minor injury. If it is Santana and another Mediocre prospect or two..... sure. Woodruff is in the rotation. Dubon could possibly be a fixture of our middle IF in a year or two. Too much for the risk involved.
  13. So basically Cleveland is offering McKenzie and Meijia for Domingo and a throw in, why don’t we just do that, I would and not include Detroit. Anyone know if Fulmer is completely healthy from his injury at the end of last year? No way would I do this. Fulmer isn't a proven top of rotation guy. Santana alone might be fairer than this deal. Woodruff and change too? Please, no.
  14. Since no one is sure if it's bs, let the man post in peace without the hassle. He's batting a high percentage, and many here are appreciative of his insights.
  15. Maybe Domingo stays in RF.... https://www.brewcrewball.com/2018/1/26/16937202/brewers-ryan-braun-first-base-christian-yelich-lorenzo-cain-domingo-santana
  16. I e-mailed my group rep. and she thought single game tickets would begin being sold at Miller Park/online on Sat., Feb. 17. That seems a week early to me, but that is what she e-mailed back. I also asked about the Arctic Tailgate event that had been going on that first day of sales until last year. She said that the Brewers are in discussion on that topic. My guess is that it comes back, partly because of the hype generated from the acquisitions yesterday (and this weekend, probably).

  18. Hey weren't you going ice fishin? Yes. This will be my last post till Tuesday. 1 more “hot” smaller trade is in the works besides the Domingo trade per my source. I’m out. Go Brewers!!! I'll guess "hot" as in hot corner... 3B. How about Jed Lowrie, a switcher at 6 mil a year, FA next season. Had a great season last year, can play 2B or 3B. If he plays 3B, Shaw moves to 1B. How about Thames going to Oakland where he can DH/1B. Makes some sense. Stearns likes flexible position players. He likes switch hitters.
  19. Extension talks went no where with him....probably a wing and a prayer, but would Santana, Phillips, and Davies get it done? Sign Arrieta and now we are golden.
  20. Reactions... This is a let's win now move! We are looking to get better in the future and this year is part of that! Our deep system could not be protected in the near future, and this is a part of the need to trade players to clear near future 40 man spots. Would we rather have Yelich or Contreras (last year)? With Contreras last season, we probably make the playoffs. Yelich is top of the order bat we desperately need! Our system is still ripe with prospects.
  21. I smell misleading information....
  22. Pretty negative, guys. That's out of bounds for a non-baseball topic. Better lock down the thread.
  23. Hearing the names Ellsbury and Albert Abreu from Yanks from various Twitter feeds. One was same who hit on the Lucroy to Indians thing a couple years ago. Ellsbury would play CF and is owed 21 mil per for three years. Yanks would pick up some of the $ you'd have to believe. Albert is a top SP 22 or younger and could be vying for rotation spot. Would have to believe Santana or Brinson would be heading out of town.
  24. There are soooooo many free agents out there yet! The prices are coming down so we are in on more and more guys, imo. No cotton picken way are we entering the season with our current OF. Someone will be traded. We have built in backup lifers like a Wren and Orf, as well. Significant additions plural are coming our way, no doubt.
  25. That the Brewers are picking sides on moral topics like the new "Pride Day" at Miller Park. AND One B would be getting locked out of this topic on brewerfan.net...... I next tried to post in the "religion and politics" section. However, that whole section is fittingly locked, as well. The Brewers can celebrate one's gayness but a Brewer fan site can't merely discuss it. Seems about right...
