  1. Well just saying statistics say Sogard is not a MUCH better pinch hitter. Braun is a much worse pinch hitter than Villar, by that logic. Statistics say Braun is hitting .000 this season.
  2. Jonathan Villar, acccording to BR.com, is a .333 hitter as a sub with an OPS+ of 157. I imagine sub=pinchhitting. Strikes out waaaaaaay too much, doesn't take pitches or walk much, not a defensive upgrade anywhere...... common'
  3. Sogard is a MUCH better pinch hitter....... but he probably is gone when Walker gets here. Villar and his huge upside stays...... vomit.
  4. Reinforcement comes after enemies take over island.
  5. You are right.... they are making a needed move that I have been calling for, and that should be mentioned. Good move. Yet, why the wait? I guess the big thing with me is that they have played so poorly, hit so poorly, and everyone has their fake smile on about how we are right in it. Just get Villar away (trade him for something if he has this load of future star talent) and beat bad teams at home. Not a lot to ask.... the people predicting flop after the break didn't even think they would be this bad. So frustrating and people are venting.
  6. Sad thing is, Neil will take Sogard's spot and we'll be left with Villar up in pinch hit situations striking out. Would still rather have Sogard to pinch hit and make contact, walk, and play D.
  7. 4 weeks late.....
  8. Provide evidence the 30yr old DeJesus is a better talent than the 26yr old Villar as well as provide evidence that he's going to outproduce him immediately and for the remainder of the season... DeJesus has never had a better season than he's having right now as a 30yr old in AAA (3.5yrs older than age for level). He's a product of CS/PCL. He's had over 420 MLB AB the past 2yrs combined posting 248/311/653. Did you have the same sarcastic responses last year about Villar's talent from watching him day in and day out? Doubt it Provide evidence? That's the point! I can't! He doesn't get called up! His Numbers are staggering! The guys above him are performing awfully! If I'm Dejesus, I ask for a trade and say "thanks for letting me play at AAA, but you should have let me know that how well i perform simply doesn't matter".......

Doubt it I was negative on Villar last year too.... countless, well more like 27, unforced errors on bases. Thrown out at third inexcusably.... He was really good at the plate, but his careless antics ran us out of so many innings until the benching. I would have welcomed a trade, much like Gomez before him.
  10. Why not the .360 hitting infielder in the minors? Dejesus..... I guess performance doesn't warrant an opportunity. But, man, that Villar sure has potential! So obvious from watching him day in, day out. The season is early; he'll cone around.......
  11. Wow, that is a really interesting article. For those that haven't checked out that link you should do so. To give an idea the name of the article is: Study Finds Buying Brewers New Spring Training Park Will Lose Money, So Town Buries Study And Commissions Friendlier One As a side note, I actually invested a lot of effort researching this topic (public finances used towards professional sports venues) for a college class many years ago. In most cases using economic projections to justify using public funding for sports or entertainment venues is going to be significantly flawed and/or a losing battle. One example, the "jobs created" are typically overstated and many of them are of the "seasonal employment" variety. I honestly think a better approach than trying to justify that the stadium is going to pay big dividends to the local economy would be to be stick with the pitch surrounding intrinsic benefits gained by the public in having a team located in their community as well as coming up with creative ways the public could utilize the facility throughout the year to maximize it's appeal as a local landmark. Great article... I always thought the season was too short, games were in the middle of day, Brewers were really not a big draw to a large percentage of sports fan... to get huge money thru taxpayers to build and upkeep a stadium. If Brewers wanted to foot the bill to build it, have town upkeep it, then it is a more beneficial agreement.
  12. He's still on the air. The issue isn't dead like the horse.
  13. The ironic thing is that Scooter was considered too limited at 2B, not enough power/speed, and now Scooter has 20 plus HRs while we are seemingly stuck with Villar on our roster wwithout a great option at 2B.
  14. Commenting on a bunch of posts here.... Wasn't a runner on 1st when Edwards made that catch? No way was Baylor under 200 lbs at end of career... Baylor would do a Rickie Weeks and even dip into inside pitches to get hit. Also, Baylor was at his all-time best as the number 5 hitter(?) on the Andgels/Red Sox(?) in the original RBI Baseball.
  15. And this is the reason Stearns is the GM and the folks on are.., well, not. You can add Nelson to the list as most were reluctant to give him a starting spot out of spring training. I don't remember a strong furor over the possibility that Villar would fall this far. Where would this team be if each of those things had come to fruition when the popular opinion was to do so? It just proves that Stearns is really, really good at his job and most of us would pretty much suck at his job. You can't be a GM and react emotionally. Agreed..... Stearns has been good. We are glad that we have him. Yet, there Seems to be a lot of OF and bullpen shuffling going on... can't believe emotions aren't involved there (most I'm ok with). If you believe roster stability is a key to being a good GM, then Stearns wouldn't be your guy. Seems every other day a roster move is being made. Look, We have a fairly deep group; some of the popular moves to get guys out of the lineup/rotation might have been the better move at the time. Some guys also stunk it up royally before being sent down, and one (Villar) is seemingly stuck here til 2018.
  16. If we are just going to dance around cheap, fixable problems at 2B and CF, why even bring Hader/Brinson up? Pretty near jerk reaction there, DS... zing. Coulda brought them up June 2018 to save a year of Arby's down the road.
  17. Check out this article from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Haudricourt: Brewers GM David Stearns stuck to team's trading strategy and avoided impulse buys https://jsonl.in/2wvqMVK I have a different take based on the low cost of some of the rentals going back in trades this year. We have HOLES in CF and 2B, and I have to read about how disciplined we are in not getting back something to fill these areas that won't come close to damaging a rebuild?
  18. Easiest way to say it is you can't walk anywhere. It's the game and Drive 20 minutes to the restaurant, hotel, etc.
  19. Agrreeed..... Cc doesn't play that way for some reason.
  20. Wouldn't' that be great?
  21. No - he's on a throwing program and at last report was said to be ready to get in the field by the middle of August. I assume he'll get extensive work in the field in fall instructionals as well, if not the Arizona Fall League. Huh? He is just hitting? DH at A levels?
