  1. I disagree. Collins will be 29 this year and last year could easily have been his peak. Very few peak after they turn 30, without needles. He was a rule 5 pick last year for a reason. He wasn’t on the playoff roster. Mears wasn’t on the NLCS roster either. This is his last year of arby and could easily make 5-8 million dollars next year. They almost didn’t even tender him a contract. I think they even tendered him, knowing they were dealing him. This could just be a salary dump after they didn’t get any offers for him.
  2. It isn’t that we save the four million as much as his cheaper salary that makes him more valuable to other clubs. The Brewers have either been lucky with their closer situation or have just proven that they can be replaced with a quality arm they they reign in and teach them a quality third pitch.
  3. 2-3-2 is a huge advantage for us. LA has to win in 5 to clinch at home and not in front of our crowd.
  4. You can be picked in lower rounds of the rule 5. And have to stay in AAA all year.
  5. Contreras to the IL….Jansen/Haase until he returns. Three catchers in September.
  6. Brewers get Suarez for CRod, Black, and Cortez. With Arizona flipping Cortez to the AL for two more prospects. Brewers bring Patrick back up and move Miz into the 8th inning role at the end of August. Limiting his innings. Come playoff time, they have Koenig/Uribe for the 6th and 7th, Miz in the 8th, and Megill in the 9th. That solves any possible pen issues.
  7. I’m not sure why Mitchell is the one everyone is pushing. Outside of Chourio, I’d trade any of our young outfielders before Mitchell. He is very fundamental, and has the shortest and best swing of the bunch.
  8. Since Yeli is out, I could see them going after Bellinger and Taillon. Black, Rodriguez, and Blalock could get that done with the Cubbies throwing some cash in on it The other idea I had was something to do with Kikuchi and Vlad. That same package could get that done.
  9. The fact that they turned approx 20 Hader appearances into Contreras, Payamps, and Gasser is incredible. I wouldn’t trade any of the three for Hader right now. The Brewers had a closer in waiting. And they always say you trade from a strength when you make your team better. I hope people don’t flip when we sign Contreras long term and trade Quero.
  10. I’d think he’d jump at 4/110 with opt outs after each year.
  11. By adding another RHH that hits well against lefties, I’m guessing Adames is gone very soon.
  12. Adames and Wiemer for Sheehan Wiemer platoons with Heyward in RF for them. They have Betts at 2B now. Adames takes over SS.
  13. Because he hurt his shoulder once, doesn’t make him injury prone. Plus, he came back earlier than expected. Honestly, I’d rather see a Mitchell, Chourio, Frelick OF with Yeli at 1B/OF/DH, depending on the matchup.
  14. Personally, I’d rather trade Frelick than Mitchell. Mitchell has done nothing but hit when healthy. He’s more consistent than Frelick so far too. I might be in the minority there. But I think we get a .290’s hitter that won’t into extended slumps with Mitchell. And to me, that’s exactly what this team needs. He was the spark on this team before he got hurt. The idea that they left him off the playoff roster for Winker is something that still makes me shake my head.
  15. Lux is another lefty bat. We already have Turang, Block, Yelich, Mitchell, and Frelick hitting from the left side. I’d much rather have Miguel Vargas. Sheehan, Vargas, and Kopp sounds very feasible.
  16. C: William Contreras ($0.77M) 1B: Rhys Hoskins ($15.0M) 3B: Tyler Black ($0.77M) SS: Turang ($0.77M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.77M) RF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M) DH: Garrett Mitchell ($0.77M) Bench OF: Joey Wiemer ($0.77M) Utility: Monasterio ($0.77M) Utility: Owen Miller ($0.77M) Backup C: Caritini ($2.5M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($15.10M) SP2: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M) SP3: Wade Miley (Minus Buyout) ($9.00M) SP4: Adrian Houser ($5.60M) SP5: Colin Rea ($3.50M) CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M) RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M) RP: Joel Payamps ($1.70M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M) Payroll is 26.02% under budget
  17. If CC is back, I think they bring back Santana. He loves switch hitters and our defense was top 5 after we got him. C: Contreras, Caratini 1B: Santana 2B: Lux SS: Turang/Monasterio 3B: Black/ Monasterio OF: Frelick, Mitchell, Taylor, Canha, Weimer DH: Yelich SP: Peralta, Bobby Miller, Miley, Ashby, and Houser RP: Rea, Uribe, Peguero, Milner, Williams, MeGill, Payamps, and Lauer Brewers trade Burnes and Perkins to LA for Miller and Lux
