  1. White Sox are trying to shed payroll,. We all know that. I really think they'll overpay for young talent. I'm thinking a big deal is in the works, and it may have escalated to even bigger after the Weeks injury. Maybe even Narveson and Danks are involved? Who knows? I think the White Sox are going to be blown up. You look at the number of players they have that have a fit in Milwaukee and it's crazy. Rios, Ramirez, Beckham, Dunn, all the lefty relievers....wowsa
  2. I don't see why we wouldn't deal Corey for Beltran. 1. It improves us this year. 2. We'd get 2 draft picks for Beltran after the season. 3. We'd get out of Hart's contract. Last year I thought Corey's contract was team friendly. Now I'm not sure. 4. It gets us another LH bat in our lineup against good RH pitching. Do we want Corey facing Halladay, Lincecum, Cain, Hudson, Jurrjens, or even Carpenter in the playoffs? I think not. He's clueless against good RHP.
  3. Why? 1. Until this year they had pretty equal numbers over 2009 and 2010. 2. They move 13 million worth of salary 3. They have someone to play third while they rebuild. 4. And it's Hendry.
  4. My idea: Trade Casey McGehee to the Cubs for Ramirez and 10 million. I realize this could really burn us down the road. But, I think if the Brewers only have to cover 13 million over the next 1.3 years, they may be able to deal ARam after the season to make room for Taylor Green. Positive for us. Helps the Cubs.
  5. But since his SB percentage is much higher versus RHP, and he isn't going to face lefties, that percentage should go up.
  6. I think this addition does make the team better. You have to get on base to get thrown out. That may be the reason that he runs into more outs than Gomez. And can we get rid of worrying about slugging percentage when we talk about players that can steal bases? A lot of those singles turn into doubles and doubles into triples. And, Gomez starts in right when Hart is out of the lineup. He has the arm for it.
  7. Erick Almonte and Boggs both make the team. Almonte moves Hart to CF and gets a good number of at-bats this year.
  8. This is the time I kinda wish we had a bad contract to send to Texas. I think Michael Young is a good comparison to Derek Jeter. Their career numbers are quite similar. The guy can flat out rake and is comparable to Betancourt defensively. Betancourt and Hawkins for Young and 15mil?
  9. I'm not sure what topic to put this under, so feel free to move this... We need a second left handed stick in our lineup somewhere. We have a few options as it lies now. 1) Stick Gamel in right and move Hart to center. Gamel plays everyday and bats sixth, behind Casey. 2)Platoon Gomez and Dickerson- and Betancourt and Counsell. That gives us three lefties against right handed pitching. 3)Sign Podsednik- Probably not a popular idea, but can get on base and play some center. 4)Get Edmonds back- Platoon him with Gomez, since Edmonds cannot play everyday. I'm sure there's more options, but these four seem possible. What do you think?
  10. They made a $108mil offer to Crawford. They made a preliminary offer to Lee. They have money for Prince. Getting Santana and Morales for Prince and Jeffress or Gamel would make me quite happy. We'd get our first baseman and a starter, plus not add a ton of payroll. A move like that could give us room to still sign Pavano. Gallardo Marcum Santana Pavano Wolf Me likey.
  11. I have this telepathy. I always knew when Favre was throwing a pick too.
  12. Maybe my Cain/Odorizzi/Jeffress deal is on the table!!
  13. Agreed 100%. I would guess that teams outside LA, TB, CWS, SF, SD, Boston, Tor, KC, and Texas would not be getting calls from DM. But I would be surprised that Hellickson's name hasn't come up yet.
  14. Just because those three are rumored, doesn't mean that would be the whole trade. Fielder/Cain/Jeffress for Kemp/Loney/Broxton sounds a bit better to me.
  15. I'm trying to figure out why people think this deal is bad. 1. We get an arm. A solid #2. Threw 195 innings with a whip of 1.24. Less hits than innings pitched in the AL East. They played 51 games against the Rays, yanks, and Red Sox. 2. Lawrie is far from a sure bet. Not a good attitude or work ethic. 3. We didn't give up a man in this year's plans. If we are going to go for it, why are we worried? 4. Most players peak at 27 years old. If Lawrie is 22 when he makes the majors, we would only have him for 2 of his peak years. The same length of time we have Marcum as of right now. 5. He is blocked at every position he could play.
  16. Would a Cain/Odorizzi/Jeffress combo land Grienke and a lefty stick?
  17. My 2 cents is that the Brewers feel they need to get less right handed, especially if Prince is dealt. I could see a flyer on Ankiel. A power left handed stick off the bench is necessary.
  18. Well that would look absolutely awful for Doug. But if it ends up Morrow, Lawrie, and another prospect, I don't think we could or would want to compete with that.
  19. This is a silver lining I want to believe. Good point. What's not to like? The fact that Marcum has been a legit #2 guy for all of one season, and doesn't throw hard enough to give himself any room for error.Marcum's swing and miss rate was well over average (10.8% to 8.4%). So he's not pitching to contact. Go look at clips of him. His stuff is nasty. The ball moves everywhere. The guy is good.
  20. You guys are nuts. We wanted to improve our pitching and we did. Quite a bit IMHO. In the NL, Marcum is a solid #2 pitcher. There is no way one hitting prospect goes for a legit #1. EVER. Close to 200 innings, a low 3 ERA, and very few walks. What is there not to like there? Remember, two years ago, Escobar and LaPorta were our top prospects. We should've traded both of them.
  21. I keep reading this on mlbtraderumors.com and can't help but laugh to myself. Isn't an aging Derrek Lee a better option? pena didn't even hit .200. Would LOVE to see him batting next to Soriano in Chicago. Hendry is easily the worst GM in baseball. Ick.
  22. I'd bat Dunn third, between Hart and Braun. I see him fitting in real well around here.
  23. Who in the world do the yanks have left in the minors to trade? Maybe eat 40mil of Burnett's salary and package him with their AAA catcher? I don't see a trade happening where Greinke goes to NY.
  24. The main problem I have is the lack of motion on the bases. We may have the fastest team in the NL and we did nothing to steal or even move runners. Amazing that we have zero pitching and the offense is the first complaint from me.
  25. Here's my ideas for 2011 and beyond: 1. Trade Prince to Tampa for Hellickson and Zobrist. 2. Trade McGehee, Parra, and Odorizzi to KC for Grienke 3. Non Tender Coffey and Narveson Rotation: Yo, Grienke, Hellickson, Wolf, and Bush Pen: Axford, Jeffress, Braddock, Hawkins, Loe, and Stetter (or a FA) Lineup: Escobar (SS), Cain (CF), Hart (1B), Braun (LF), Weeks (2B), Zobrist (RF/3B), Gamel (3B/RF), Lucroy © Bench; Gomez, Dickerson, Kotteras, Counsell, and a FA with power
