  1. Now that Brewerfan.net got 3TO promoted, time to work on getting Brad Nelson up to the show. A 12th inning game winning grand slam tonight. Turns out they needed all 4 runs as the usually reliable Erasmo Ramirez gave up a 3 run dong in the bottom half, but worked out of it to finish out the Redbirds. Nelson now hitting .327 with 8 homers and 31 rbis.
  2. Bob Uecker? Born in and played for Milwaukee. Hall of Fame announcer. TV career.
  3. It is Brae Wright on the mound. Stars playing well so far.
  4. Congrats to Donovan Hand. A well deserved promotion. I was dissapointed to see Patrick Ryan passed over in favor of Jason Shiell. Hopefully for Patrick, he will get a mid-season promotion.
  5. Per the game notes today, Calix Crabbe was activated and took the roster spot of Abraham Nunez who was released. Crabbe is in the starting lineup today, batting leadoff and playing left field.
  6. Good start for Nashville and Russell Branyan. 2 homers and 4 RBI's. Not so good a start for the BC Manatees. Rain takes out the Power game tonight as well. POWER RAINED OUT AGAIN Friday night's game between the West Virginia Power and Lakewood BlueClaws has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a double header on Saturday afternoon at First Energy Park in Lakewood, New Jersey. The first pitch in game one is scheduled for 4:05 PM. Right-hander Evan Anundsen (3-3, 3.85) will get the start for the Power and the BlueClaws will counter with left-hander Walter Tejada (3-1, 4.09).
  7. Indians 2B Asdrubal Cabrera turns unassisted triple play CLEVELAND (AP)-Indians second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera turned the 14th unassisted triple play in major league history, accomplishing the feat Monday night in the second game of a doubleheader against Toronto. Cabrera made a diving catch on a line drive by Lyle Overbay, touched second base and then tagged out Marco Scutaro to quickly end the fifth inning. Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki made the last unassisted triple play in the majors, on April 29, 2007, against Atlanta. Oakland second baseman Randy Velarde last turned the trick in the AL, on May 29, 2000, against the Yankees. This was the record third unassisted triple play by a Cleveland fielder. Indians shortstop Neal Ball made the first one in history, in 1909. Cleveland second baseman Bill Wambsganss turned the only one in the World Series, in 1920 during a Game 5 win over Brooklyn. The Indians also have been victimized three such times. The last player to pull an unassisted triple play against them-Ron Hansen, in 1968 for Washington - is now an advance scout for Philadelphia and was at Progressive Field to see Cabrera's feat. "First one I've ever seen from the stands," Hansen said. "That kid is a real good fielder and has a great future. "On a play like that, it's just reaction and he reacted right." Hansen said he sent both the ball he caught and his glove to the Baseball Hall of Fame and cherishes the moment forever. "I get asked about it all the time," Hansen said. "They didn't have one for 41 years before me and then another 22 after I did it. It's that rare." Undefeated Cliff Lee, who came in 6-0 with an 0.81 ERA, gave up consecutive singles to Kevin Mench and Scutaro to open the Blue Jays fifth. The runners took off on a 1-0 pitch and Overbay hit a line drive up the middle. Cabrera moved to his right, grabbed the ball with a backhanded dive and held up his glove to show the umpire he'd made the catch. At that point, the runners had no chance. Cabrera took a couple of steps to touch second to get Mench, who was already standing at third base. Cabrera then reached out to tag Scutaro, who had run past the bag. History made, Cabrera broke into a smile as he ran off the field with the game still scoreless. In the first game of the doubleheader, Cabrera turned two nifty double plays as the Indians shortstop in a 3-0 win.
  8. I wonder if Steve Garrison is too much to ask for in return for letting them keep Crabbe.
  9. Per the broadcast tonight, Pedro Lambertus has a thumb laceration.
  10. We used Integrity Roofing a couple of years ago and have only good things to say about the product and service we received.
  11. After today, I'm liking Texas or Arizona or any other state that doesn't get a foot of snow in March.
  12. I'll second that, and actually third that as twice when I had kidney stones I ended up throwing up.
  13. I'll post this here and if it is better suited for another forum, please move it. Yovani Gallardo's brother Jorge is a high school pitcher coming off elbow surgery. Last season he was all district. Colby, or anyone else, do you have any info on him? Could he end up in the Brewer's system? http://www.star-telegram.com:80/757/story/532491.html
  14. Thanks for the generous offer Pedro!! Please add my name to the hat.
  15. I came across this at Baseball Digest. It is Matt LaPorta's spring training blog. Some insight into one of the Brewers' top prospects. http://blog.baseballdigestdaily.com/blog/_archives/2008/3/8/3568667.html
  16. Does it really matter whether Munson bats lefty or righty if he is going to make out 8 out of 10 times? The other thing to remember is that a manager is usually reluctant to use their back up catcher as a pinch hitter and not have someone on the bench should the starting catcher get hurt (or tossed). If the argument is bench flexibility with batting, then I think Munson makes it, but then Rottino also makes it.
  17. Keith Foulke ended his retirement signing with the Oakland A's for 1 year at $700,000 with the chance to make up to $2,500,000 with incentives. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=229250&hubname=
  18. I wonder how much of this was city/county workers off because Monday was MLK Holiday? I'm guessing that may have something to do with it. Again, not an excuse, but a possible explaination.
  19. I am pretty sure the + sign in a phone # indicates international calling. Best I could find was that Somolia has a 252 country code, but not knowing the standard of their phone system, not sure how the rest of the #'s work out. As far as stopping it, I have no idea, but I wouldn't answer or call that # back.
  20. Other than the Brewers, I don't care about any other Wisconsin teams. The only other sport I follow is hockey, and there the team is the Vancouver Canucks.

  22. Well, Vargas' injury is not season ending as during the broadcast today, I heard he was activated from the DL.
  23. Not being on the 40 man roster could be an obstacle for Bray, but it's not like they couldn't easily make room for him. If Drew Anderson was really in the Brewers plans, he would be in the dugout by now. Are either Vargas or Parra going to be healthy enough to pitch again this season. I would like to believe it is something as simple as no 40 man roster spot, but it seem like more.
  24. Baseball America is also showing pitchers Efrain Nieves, and Pedro Lambertus and third baseman Edgar Trejo on the Helena Roster. Trejo played for Helena on 9/29.
  25. 19 year old Pedro Lambertus with an impressive outing so far tonight in Arizona. Through 6 innings, a 14-3 ground out to fly out ratio.
