  1. "...and Prince catches CC coming off the ropes and is about to give him the "Fielder Bomb"!"
  2. I though Brantley was one also under consideration. At the time of the trade, he was on the DL. He's been playing pretty regularly now since then.
  3. Prince Fielder Julian Tavarez Barry Bonds Carlos Zambrano Aramis Ramirez Alfonso Soriano Manny Ramirez Jose Guillen Jeff Kent Kenny Rogers
  4. Lakewood is up 5-4 bottom of the 6th.
  5. I'm happy about this. I will go to some games. The only concern I have is the lack of parking in the area. I'm hoping they are able to draw enough to keep the team around for a while.
  6. <---------------- Johnny Drama (Entourage) Tommy Gavin (Rescue Me) Coach (Cheers) One of my all time favorite lines from any show was when Coach answered the phone at Cheers and then asked if there was an Ernie Pantuzo there to which Sam Malone replied "that's you Coach" and then Coach back into the phone says "Speaking". Cracks me up every time.
  7. Best of luck to you Game. There have been more than a few days within the last calendar year where I wanted to walk out but my family responsibilities have not allowed that. I admire your courage and hope for the best for you.
  8. Erik Komatsu continues to destroy Pioneer League pitching. 3 hits including a grand slam home run. Brock Kjeldgaard 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 4 rbi's. You have to wonder where he would be if he hadn't started his career as a pitcher. Stosh Wawrzasek with the start tonight for the A-Crew with 3 scoreless and 3 K's. Jake Odorizzi following him to the mound tonight.
  9. Heck of a night for Dan Merklinger. 5 innings, 8 strikeouts, 3 hits 1 walk. 6 of the other 7 outs were ground outs!
  10. Erik Komatsu is having a night. 2 three-run homers, both no doubters, and an outfield assist. Helena up 8-0 in the 6th.
  11. Owings is one of the players to be named later per The Arizona Republic. Owings to Reds in Dunn deal 20 commentsby Nick Piecoro - Aug. 12, 2008 04:57 PM The Arizona Republic DENVER - Right-hander Micah Owings is one of the players to be named later in the deal that brought Adam Dunn to the Diamondbacks on Monday. It's unclear if Owings has yet to be placed on waivers. He will have to clear waivers if he is to be traded before the end of the season. It's possible that Owings has been placed on waivers already and was claimed by another team, at which point the Diamondbacks would have pulled him back off waivers. That would mean he would not be able to be traded until the conclusion of the regular season. http://view.atdmt.com/NMK/view/cnoccqm20460000012nmk/direct;wi.160;hi.600/01/ It's also unclear is Owings' physical condition could be a factor in the deal. He is expected to miss his start Wednesday with shoulder stiffness. Owings was inconsistent in his 1 1/2 seasons in the Diamondbacks rotation. He had a 4.30 ERA in 29 games (27 starts) last season, but was in jeopardy of being bumped from the rotation on several occasions. And after a strong start to this season, Owings has a 7.09 ERA since April 21. But Owings is known as much, if not more, for his hitting. A former designated hitter in college, he has a career .313 average (35 for 112) with five home runs. Minor league right-hander Dallas Buck also is part of the trade, but the identity of the third minor leaguer is not yet known.
  12. Blake Billings the starter tonight for the Arizona Crew.
  13. It depends on their age when signed. 18 and younger, it is the 5th draft after they have signed and 19 and older it is their 4th. - Example: 18 year old drafted and signed in 2000. He would need to be protected for the 2004 draft and for 19 year old or older in the same situation, the 2003 draft. For the 2008 draft, I see 5 "for sure" protects currently in the Brewers system. Alexandre Periard, Angel Salome, Omar Aguilar, Mat Gamel, and Lorenzo Cain. A few others that could possibly be protected are David Welch, Mike Bell, Brendan Katin, Derek Miller, David Johnson, (Both were eligible after last season as well and were not protected) and Patrick Ryan. The toughest call could be Mark Rogers. I'm sure the Brewers want to hold on to him and the odds of some team taking him after all the injury troubles would be slim. I believe he would slip through the draft and the Brewers would hold onto him without having to protect him. Then there are the players like Joe Bateman. If he's added to the 40 man for September and pitches well, he very well could be kept.

  15. As Nashville is a lock not to make the playoffs, their season ends on 9/1. No need to wait for the playoffs to end. I figure Gwynn, Iribarren, Nelson, Stetter, DiFelice, Rottino, and Dillard. Outside chance: Bateman, E. Ramirez, and Stocker. Edit: I forgot Dillon had been sent down. I would include him as a lock to be up on 9/2.
  16. I play hockey. I started playing in 1994. My first couple of seasons I led or was near the lead in penalty minutes. My friend told me I was not big enough to be a goon, that I was just a mini-goon, and it has stuck. I still play, and last season I was near the lead in penalty minutes again.
  17. 18 year old Allixon Cequea left the game after the 1st inning. He had singled and was out at 2nd when Lou Palmisano grounded into a double play. Cequea was hitting .343 in his last 10 games going into tonight. I doubt the game plan going in was to have Cequea play 1 inning and take the rest of the night off so lets hope for the best. AZL Brewers Bottom 1st Carlos George strikes out swinging. Allixon Cequea singles on a soft fly ball to left fielder Terry Serrano. Lou Palmisano grounds into double play, shortstop Cesar Fuentes to second baseman Fred Bello to first baseman Alfredo Mateo. Allixon Cequea out at 2nd. AZL Mariners Top 2nd Defensive Substitution: Joseph Paciorek replaces third baseman Allixon Cequea, batting 2nd, playing third base. Alfredo Mateo singles on a fly ball to center fielder Jose Rangel.
  18. Diamondbacks lock up Dan Haren through 2012. Seems like a favorable deal for the Diamondbacks.
  19. For me it was the 2nd push to the face that really got under my skin. I understand, but do not condone, the 1st push. That was an emotional reaction or overreaction. But after that, it took thought to continue and go after Parra a 2nd time. In my opinion, Prince is in the wrong here.
  20. I'll guess that it was between the Brewers and a couple of other teams that he was considering signing with at the beginning of the season and agreed to the Brewers because they offered a 40 man spot where others didn't. He certainly has not done much to hold onto it though.
  21. Fact for the day - Helena leads the Pioneer league in home runs.
  22. Some Brewerfan.net love from Steve Wendt tonight during the Helena broadcast!
  23. 3 games against Milwaukee this season. 2 in Atlanta, 1 in Milwaukee. 3-0 record, 19 innings pitched, 14 hits allowed, 3 earned runs, 1 walk, 18 strikeouts, no home runs allowed, 1.42 ERA. Season: 6-4, 108 innings pitched, 92 hits, 35 runs, 31 earned, 21 walks, 76 strikeouts, 9 home runs allowed, 2.58 ERA. He's having a good season, but definately owns the Brewers.
  24. Arizona game 1 has Seth Lintz starting. A balmy 113 degrees at game time. I don't care if it is a "dry heat", that's hot!
  25. I couldn't agree with you more Crew07. I want what Atlanta had through the 90's.
