  1. Photography. I been doing it for a few years now and even have done some pro gigs like weddings and corporate shoots. I have a photo show in Chicago's bucktown neighborhood this friday if anyone's interested. I also love baseball - playing and watching. I will be playing this sunday at Miller Park part of the brewers bootcamp... feel free to stop by after 12 (its free) and root us on. I guess I got a busy weekend ahead of me!
  2. I love Sheepshead, I used to play in College all the time, but then I moved to Chicago where all they play here is Euchre. Nothing wrong with Euchre, I just think Sheepshead is a superior game. I also learned a southside Chicago african-american game called Bid Whist that is similar but there is a lot of bluffing and big social element to it. I forget the rules since its been a while but it was fun. Regardless I am a fan of Trump-style games. Too bad I haven't played in a while http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Anyway I play JD with leasters. Never got in to the Pick Ace rule (not sure how it works) even though I am originally from Milwaukee.. I learned Madison rules I suppose. Next time there is a yahoo game, let me know and I'll try to make it. Local game is out unless its part of a brewers tailgate on a saturday. Then my buddy and I are in!
  3. Cool website, I like the overlays. Looks like they might do some Milwaukee historical overlays. That would be very interesting.
  4. I dont have stats to back me up but back in the day I'd always hate having to face Hollandsworth and Grudzelanek in a clutch situation. Thank God that they are both gone from the division.
  5. I wasn't sure to start a thread on this or not, but it seems pretty relevant so I figured to stick it here, but someone put some quantitative analysis on injuries on MLB teams of the past few years. Apparently the White Sox have done good job of avoiding injuries and not too shabby is the Brewers. Take a look: http://www.beyondtheboxsc...ing-the-disabled-list-by
  6. Hey was that Ron Wolf in the 3rd base side seats next to a teen in a card's shirt?
  7. Insomniac, I just ordered the perfect birthday gift for my buddy! Thanks
  8. Good Luck unstable! You are a class act for posting.
  9. That's too bad, what is this? The old people section of Camp Randall where you can't stand up during play in a Playoff game? I was up for most the game and so were most people around me. I did feel bad for the guy behind me so I tried to make sure I wasn't blocking his view but please... If you don't want to stand, fine, just don't be pissed at those who are up showing excitement.
  10. You know I haven't had a chance to go on-line since Friday so when I read the article this morning I was a little pissed so I wrote the author about what I thought about his observation. I also figured there was a thread on this, so I checked after I sent this email and sure enough BF.NET did not disappoint. Anyway here was my email: That pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter but in a more polite way than I initially wanted to be.
  11. I have 2 tickets in the club section 321 for $38 (face) I posted this in Craigslist at http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/tix/788939981.html Let me know you want them, call me at 773-744-7083. We can meet near Miller Park to complete the transaction. Thanks!
  12. A photo I took a month ago in a bar here in Chicago (Shubas) where there was a schlitz maiden with a globe and a light inside of it. I though it was pretty cool so I took it a shot of it, made it grayscale and real grainy. I titled it "Our Lady of Beer"
  13. Well it seems to me the base issue here isn't nickelback, but a dissatisfaction about how this world works. Nickelback (and most rock bands) is popular because of hype, marketing and a little luck. I think any semi-competent band could come up with a catchy tune that people will like, but to get to the milliondollar realm of NB, we are talking about record labels putting into the machine to get $$$ out of it. Why do you think Paris Hilton is popular? She has no discernable talent that I can tell. Hype and luck (think gene lottery). So unfortunately talented, passionate musicians have to live in relative obscurity, especialy if chosen genre isn't today's flavor. The only thing that irks me is the John Cage quote because it implicitly declares that music for the sake of entertainment is a misuse. Perhaps I am mis-reading that or it is out of context, but I strongly disagree with that sentiment. I had no idea who John Cage was so I looked him up in Wikipedia and he was an influentual american composer who died in the 90's. So at least I know one more thing for my next whirl of pub trivia Edit: I read further, I just realized he's the dude that sat silently at a piano for 4 minutes. I heard about that in college and thought that was creative and finally a song I can play on piano!
  14. I am a photographer. I take 2 kinds of photos, photos for my "art" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif and snapshots for memories. One is because I want to capture an image and find an interesting story/mood/work in it. I use my DSLR for those and put time and thought into it. The other I use my point and shoot to take pictures of me and my friends/family. They are fun photos and I don't put much thought into them other than "oooh lets get the gang together for a pose". These shots are for fun and too look at years later. My point is I enjoy both and am not exclusive of either. Hey I don't care if me, my girlfriend, and my buddies' faces are blown out from the flash while the bar in the background is barely decipherable, and while I'd never show it, I'd enjoy it for capturing the sillyness that ensued. I see music in the same way. Some is serious and some isn't so and there is nothing wrong with either. Heck I love playing Rock Band. its a hoot. I also like playing guitar too. Disclaimer, I don't particularly like Nickelback, I find it to be blah, not irritating like, say, some lame boy band, but not fun nor interesting. Anyway the reason I decided to post here (after not posting in a longgggg time) is because I have one comment about Nickelback that I've been saying for years: Their music is the kind of music that you would see strippers dancing to. Seriously, so I've heard http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. I am the habitual lurker, havent posted much this year but come on the site regularly, I just had to get in on this... http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VNVEXCYBL._AA280_.jpg
  16. When people pronounce the T in often. It's silent! I was taught it was silent in school and someone in the early 90's decided the T should be heard. C'mon, it just sounds dumb. I also dislike the word Horrific. Over used, although not as bad as it was about 5 years ago. Someone else talked about not liking tatoos. I dislike them on women. I am 30 and it is a major knock in my book if a woman has a tatoo, and a double knock if it is a lame butterfly or something in the small of the back. Not original. Then I see these gals with tatoos all over their arms and back and legs. At that point it is just disgusting to me. Ok, I know I sound like an old man, but I just don't get it.
  17. I am jumping on the left-handed mojo for tonight. I am left-handed and I am typing this post with only my left hand! Lets go Zack Jack and win one for the crew!
  18. Making the drive up to Milwaukee for this game tonight! Hopefully the good dave bush will pitch. I was there last time he won against the reds in the laugher. Also lets hope he doesn't serve anything up to Bonds tonight. It will be interesting to see how hard he will be booed tonight. I know I'll be one of those guys. Imagine if he was getting close to Aaron instead of Ruth how crazy tonight would be, especially being in Milwaukee (or Atlanta too I s'pose).
  19. Sitting in the office today with a couple of cub fans, so they are listening to the radio. Yeah they are pumped about winning the game right now, and actually I hope the cards fall too! I guess that's the only common ground we got as cubs-brewers fans
  20. So my question to all the "innocent until proven guilty" people, what if he did admit to steriod use? I say he's in when he's eligible (I am a "innocent unitl proven guilty person"). But if he admits to it, I am not so sure what to think. I guess I would feel cheated that the '98 hr chase was a fraud. I'm on the fence, but would lean towards letting him in anyway because like colby pointed out, what exactly are the mesuarble effects of steriod use? 70 HR? Also remember we could have this same arguement with Barry Bonds, and even after the two of them, where do we draw the line? Clemens? Sosa? Sheffield? Griffey Jr? Schilling? Until news breaks on this, I vote yes.
  21. Great article and series! I like how you broke down the numbers. You give a compelling arguement. I vote he's in. I'll go check if there's a poll and vote.
  22. ok just to lighten the tone of the thread: I have a lot of French in me. Whenever I see a hot chick, I go up to her and ask her if she has some Mexican in her. When she says no (presumably), then I just ask her if she would like some. Usually worth a slap in the face. Anyway feel free to use it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  23. Was that a 10 pitch at bat? Reminded me of what Molly used to do!
