That's because they had the worst GM and the worst owner in baseball at the time. Best move for Molitor, though. He never would have won a ring in Milwaukee.
JJ had Wednesday and Thursday off at the All-Star break. He also had back-to-back games off last week in Cincy. I think he's just messed up in the head when he stands in the batters box. He's kind of fallen into the same thing that plagued Weeks: watch the fastball down the middle of the plate and then swing at the junk outside the strikezone. When he does make contact, he's just not hitting the ball hard. Early in the season, even JJ's outs were hit hard, it seemed.
How about a comparison between Yost and Alan Trammell with Detroit. Trammell took his lumps with a young team for a few years, then they dumped him and brought in a veteran manager and a few key veterans. Maybe that is what the Brewers need to do. Bring in a veteran manager.
It's hard for me to have a lot of faith in this team. In the last five games they've had leads of 6-0, 5-0 and 5-0. They've lost all of those games. Couple that with their crappy play on the road against rotten teams and it leads one to believe that this team just doesn't have what it takes to make the playoffs. Many on this site keep screaming "YES, but were STILL in 1st place!!!" Well, they're watching a different team than me in the last few months. The Brewers have ripped defeat from the jaws of victory way too many times.
A lead off double for the cubs, and two wild pitches to score. I thought that's how the cubs were suppose to lose games. Everything is going right for the Cubs right now. Nothing is really going right for the Brewers. If things don't change soon, it could get ugly in the NL Central by the end of the month. This isn't a vent, more a statement of fact.
I was going to vent, but then I've been watching CNN most of the night and watching the tragedy in the Twin Cities. It's hard to get upset over a stupid game when you see something like that. My heart goes out to those involved in this terrible disaster. I just drove over that bridge 2 days ago.
Manny Parra looks like the real deal. I'm surprised Vargas hasn't had more starts this year like the one tonight. Frustrating to watch the Brewers offense get shut down again after scoring early. This may not be our year, but it sure looks bright for the future with the young infielders and Parra, CVillanueava and Yoga.
I'm going to assume that Milwaukee is one of the teams on Gagne's no-trade list. I don't think he would ok a trade to Milwaukee if he was going to be Cordero's set-up man.
I can't believe he's tired. Many relievers and/or closer have pitched more innings than Cordero. Jenks, Putz, Jones, Rodriguez, Wagner ... If he's tired then the Brewers would be idiots to sign him next year.
Look at it from Linebrink's point of view. His wife is about to give birth to their first child, and he's traded to a team half way across the country. In the span of about a week, his world is getting turned upside down twice. I think the Brewers are doing a good thing in giving him a lot of time to get his head on right. I hope everything goes good for him and his family.
In the last 6 games, the Brewers got to face 6 of the worst starting pitchers MLB has to offer. They won 1. Nice. At least Turnbow's meltdown saved Cordero from another blown save.
